One of the most important ways to do trading in WoE will be the Global Auction. It's basically one topic where any WoE player can sell their cards and items to the highest bidder.

- each player can have only one auction topic active at a time
- auction lasts a predetermined amount of time (like 3-4 days or something) after which the highest bidder gets the item. You have to sell it no matter who is buying, or what the price is.
- You can make bids from anywhere on the map
- You can claim your purchases only in a city or a town

There are tons of other details as well, but I forgot them all. :) Maybe I'll remember them later..

Does the seller have to accept any starting bid, or may they set a minimum first bid?

Will there be a cost when using the auction?

Um.. I don't know yet.

We could have a fixed service fee for using the Auction. So if it were like.. 10 electrum, I would have to deduct that 10 electrum from what I get from the sale.

I'd like to hear some arguments for and against a system like that.

I think a percent of the money(maybe five or ten) is more realistic, but either way, I do think a minimal cost should be implemented.

I dislike percentages because players would have to count them by themselves which would lead to failure. If more people knew basic math, then yes, percentages would be better.

I don't suppose fractions would make it easier? Ah well, I'd say a set small fee would be best, then. Or you could have prices for certain brackets, 10 electrum for sales up to 100, 20 for 101-200, etc.

Those price brackets could work. I think we should go with that.

Price brackets would be easy and with everything else going on with the game, simpler would be better. Over time however the percentages might be better as they are more exact. I say just for alpha and beta, run the brackets, but for full release try percentages

Will there be a possibility to have more than one auction running or lower the price for the auction?

:D i vote we make a google docs spreadsheet!!!

But, on a more serious note, This could operate exactly the way we want it with google docs, considering it was built specifically for occasions like this. We could have a form for submitting a bet, new action, or something entirely different! this would completely automate it and allow for a serious amount of ease.
