I think what Gl1tch is saying is if we move the time line ahead after each WoE, by say 30 years, and Kevkev was got his name added in the annuls of history in the 1st WoE, how do work around a situation where he shows up 60 years later in the 3rd WoE? Same person, same name.
Ah, ok. I have an easy answer for that. Players are Elementals, not humans. Elementals live longer. :)

Also, to be quite blunt, there are some silly forum names that should never make their way into a serious storyline. Example, "all hail Lord 9270984!" Would be interesting to see how we'd rationalize a character's great deed when their name is "Evil Hamster."
Silly forum names like 9270984 are indeed a problem, but only from a role-playing standpoint. I'd rather have the RP section take a slight hit, then to have to deal with hundreds of different names.

I wouldn't want each player to have a second name for the game, and maybe even a 3rd for chat! It's going to be really confusing when players have names like this:

Evil Hamster (forums)
Miss Moneypenny (WoE)
Jebus (chat)

It would be a nightmare.

Maybe a compromise? The player that does something epic and worthy of recognition can make up their own name, one with small restrictions on it's naming convention. Say 9270984 does something really epic and earns a name. He can then choose "Sir Walter Kronkite" as his in-game WoE name. All we'd have to do then is develop the naming conventions while at the same time not restricting player's forum names.

I think we should first find out how much do people want to role play in WoE. If there is a clear demand, then we will probably add more RP, more complex or not. But if only a handful of players want RP, we will probably go with the most simple solution.

We'll see..

One way i propose we could do both, while keeping one name is nicknames/abbreviations. No one calls 9270984 by all the numbers. Many just use the first few number, and several others just call him "Numbers" But then he isn't the only one with an all numbered name, but my point is, instead of listing two names on the character sheet, leave it up to the players to come up with nicknames for each other, much like we have them do in the chat.

Really, I have no opinion on this topic. I could go either way, from my perspective. I'm really unoriginal when it comes to names, though. NUMBAHS FTW!!!

I can't understand the problem with "different" names. We're speaking of a different world, with different rules. Maybe, in this world, it's normal to meet people whose name is "918273645" or "ImTheKingOMGWTFBBQ". Role play ≠ Medieval or planet earth based world role play in my opinion.

No suggestion for the sheet for the moment.

I'm for using Forum name here, or otherwise for each interaction with a player you'll have to go search who that Batman is. Gets more complicated when observing map with all the codenames on it, and you have no idea who's who.

As for the sheet itself, might also want to add "Quests Completed" so there are no repeats or abuses on one-time quests.
This, and also an Active Quests list.

EDIT: nevermind, this is already on there. That'll teach me for posting before looking.

Silly forum names are difficult to avoid, considering the forum name is set in stone. There will really be no way to deal with this....

While we're on the topic of names though, we should have the character sheet display the user's chat name and ign. I'm also thinking that the user should be able to customize their character sheet to some point, like just putting their favorite element on it or a little bio perhaps? Something to make it less foreboding.

I agree with the ign and chat names. Bios are also a good idea, but I'm fairly sure no-one else will be able to see them (presuming that each character sheet is secret)?

EDIT: Unless there is a publicly-viewable master thread somewhere which lists all the players from each element, their igns and their chat handles. You could include bios there and keep all the information in spoiler tags.

Not neccsairly, the character sheets can display all public information, but keep sensitive information private. The same way that when you see someone's posts and are only allowed to see posts in boards that you have access to.

Yeah, bios somewhere would add to the whole role-playing feel especially if we can get some nice backstory and setting from the Lore masters.  Hope you guys are already working on that.  :)
