Just FYI I've almost gotten oetg-v (https://etg.dek.im/vanilla) back up & running. Need to work out some kinks that's making it difficult to use actives etc

Posting here since Team Darkness has opted not to horde a not-terrible pvp server for ourselves. Eventually oetg-v's AIvAI (https://etg.dek.im/vanilla/aivai.htm) tool should be operational again too; there's something broken in the AI's search algo atm

Given the prospect of Darkness providing a useable testing area (hopefully), I'll be so kind to share a coupon simulator with you. Obv, inelement allowed totals and percentage will be calculated for time given the basis I worked on (for total points this is irrelevant though and its easy enough to change this yourselves) and this is not the version that I myself use and you cannot edit it (this is for your own good really, dont want everyone to see your vault).
Instead, while being logged into a gmail-account you click on File -> Make a copy   to get an editable copy.
Put the cards you want in VaultCostCalculator, the cards will automatically be transferred to the three sheets for simulated coupons. You can then see the total costs in the respective sheets.

Enough talk, here is the link to the spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LXsm8fdS68-TRRxu7uzFUmQskm-FSjIEG7qyrEfVhmA/edit#gid=869944792)

Some copypasting errors may have occured, please point them out!

However, no you are not allowed to complain about the bg color being a little inconsistent due to copypasting!

Some of the cheaper cards (Cat, Deathstalker, etc.) don't have discounts on them. Don't know why this would be practical, but I feel like it's worth it to point this out. (I mean, who knows? Someone might want free Shields...)

2.3.1. Vault Discounts

Vault discounts may be chosen from one of the three discount groups available. Each group applies a different amount of  discount and affects different cards that can be bought from the market. The discount choice must be made in the first week of vault building. This choice is made by posting in your secret section in a response to the vault building topic created by the WMs, or by PM if your secret section is not yet secret.

Biologist - All Creatures cost 10 less points
Engineer - All Permanents cost 15 less points
Doctor - All Spells cost 5 less points

NOTE: Shards and cards costing below 45 are not included in these bucket groups, and do not have a discount applied to them!

Thems the rules. I didnt make them (it does make sense on the very cheap cards however)

That's not exactly what I meant. Colossal Dragons, which are supposed to be only 15 points with the Biologist Discount are 25 on the tool. This is the same for some other extremely cheap cards, too.

EDIT: So I can't read.

Any card under 45 cost does not give the discount
Colossal Dragon costs 25
Therefore will not receive the discount

Also, you'll want to make sure to edit the Q55's to your element and adjust the "black on black" value in cell V47 to 32,000 - <team cost in auction> = pts-avail-for-vaultbuilding. (Pretty handy having this, much appreciated kaempfer!)

While I like the market system, it seems to be much more Google Docs heavy than the previous 1-1 system. It is obvious that at least our current War Masters have problems with it without the help of the admins. I wonder if we should either go back to the previous 1-1 system or find an entirely new system in order to avoid such situations in the future...

EDIT: if this is in the wrong topic, please move it in the correct one.

I don't necessarily disagree with your overall point (I wouldn't revert to 1-1 at all, there are good compromises between balance and complex that can be explored), but you're conflating two different issues here. The Admins being busy this week only affects the creation and assignment of secret sections, not anything pertaining to the vault document itself.

So are we any closer to secret sections, and will vaultbuilding be 2 weeks from when we get the sections?
Presumably round 1 not till new years now?

The countdown started when we got the vaults through pm. Vaultbuilding ends in:
No time remaining

Is this also propaganda deadline? How can we find out whether we need more effort into propaganda?

Propaganda doesn't even get mentioned in the rules anymore, not since War 7. It makes that part of the event a fully self motivated activity

I'm pretty sure propaganda is mentioned as giving relics for effort. I don't know if it's in the official rules though.

There is no word about Propaganda in the official rules. But. Check the Propaganda subsection, where jijo explicitly
states that there WILL BE* rewards for making propaganda.

Since Manual screwed up and obviously no one likes www3, I think we can all pitch in for the greater good of the community. Everyone buys a couple SoFrees and throws them into a suicide deck to air, letting air terrorize aether once again. In return, Manual doesn't rage when my dusk mantle blocks 100% of his dragons even with 6 SoFree played.  :P

Got someone to stream all War Matches (or most) that occur between 6:30pm to 5:45am UTC. It will be a YouTube stream no commentary. Here is the channel where they will take place: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZmhI7xv0PwBOwiqmQr4GOg

Update: Since he is not in the game or forums, he will need notification if your match is about to happen. There is a discord link in the YT channel. If you could post the times your matches are happening, there is a better chance they will be streamed. Also, If your match happens a few hours after 5:45am UTC they may still be streamed; sleeping schedules are for the weak.

Just a reminder to all teams; if you will be dropping below 4 players playing (or think there is a chance you will) in a round, please make a post in your section stating who you want to play in the following round at least 24hours before the start of a round.

If you do not post at least 24hours before  we will be going by the order in the rosters page for players for building the round matchup brackets.

EDIT: if it is easier for convenience, feel free to just make one topic in your section for player order and just edit it (or a new post if you prefer) each round.

This would apply at the 3-matches-in-a-round level for "Player 4" teams of three players, right?

This is correct. Player 4 will automatically be removed first if a team only has 3 players on it.

yes i agree player4 is an advantage and should not automatically be the first player cut when a team plays 3 or less matches a round

Imagind being the player you want less than no player at all.

Player 4 should of course go first.

I'm a nub when it comes to this. Anyone feel like sharing all decks used list for this war?
You didn't draft anyone who "can code a few things here and there" to your team? Nub-Gen-www3. :P

I didn’t realise you had to be reasonably good at coding to do well in war.
... You don't, Aether seems to be doing just fine as you are, no? 😉

To celebrate DoubleCapitals fixing the formatting of his post for my minor convenience, going to share a python script that pulls in the decks played in a round. Invoke with a parameter of the URL of the round

Code: [Select]
import asyncio
import aiohttp
from bs4 import BeautifulSoup
import re
import csv

deckcode = re.compile(r'([4-8][0-9a-v]{2} ){30,60}8p[j-u]')

writer = csv.writer(open('result.csv', 'w'), quoting=csv.QUOTE_MINIMAL)

sema = asyncio.BoundedSemaphore(16)
async def getsite(url, parser = 'html.parser'):
async with aiohttp.ClientSession() as session:
async with sema, session.get(url) as resp:
return BeautifulSoup((await resp.read()).decode('utf-8', errors='surrogateescape'), parser)

async def processMatch(x):
a = x.div.span.span.a
title = a.text
soup = await getsite(a['href'])
deckposts = soup.find_all('div', class_='post')
decks = [None, None]
for (post, i) in zip(deckposts, range(2)):
dcode = deckcode.search(post.get_text())
decks[i] = dcode and dcode[0]
writer.writerow((title.replace(',', '-'), a['href'], *decks))

async def processRound(a, page = 1):
pages = []
while a:
soup = await getsite(a)

We would’ve been 20-0 if I was able to get the decks used through that code.

    We usually have vault stuff done by now, but eh... we still have last round's stuff showing? When can we expect to get our vaults operational? I do not have a lot of time tomorrow...

    EDIT: For the record, it's not the absolute time I am worried about. If wms need rest of the month to get it done, so be it. Just let me know when it's done and give me 2-3 days afterwards. My current projections estimate we'll have less than 24 hours before deckbuilding deadline.

    I admit it is not a bad idea having a week rest, but it would have been better to know it already at the start of the round...

    (Though having 1 day extension is good, too.)

    I don't really mind. Not gonna be a problem for Gravity, and it gives me more to do in my spare time.

    I understand you don't mind, but me and Aves was working hard to have our private War 12 stat always updated, and it kinda pisses me that this
    sort of whining/no-work combo can be effective, too.

    Ehhh. Let's calm down a bit. All decks used is public information, nothing wrong with people choosing to share public info. Serp posted the script for this months ago, anybody can run it.

    Yeah, I only spend about 3.5 minutes a round keeping our all decks thread up to date

    FWIW, last war fippe had a public all decks used that he kept updating after every round. It’s not a big deal. War isn’t an event where you get tested on who can compile the list of all decks used.

    The difference is you have two people. Some teams might not even be able to afford that ;(

    Biggest mistake: 5 EQ + 2 Auburn. My fault for pushing that. EQ was trash with this semi upped meta. Would've liked to only go 0-3 sanct. SoD should not be cheaper than sanct

    I had no idea how to vault build and made a ton of mistakes. Not adding SoPa was not one of them though.

    -CP -Grey Nymph, shift around a few other things, and learn how to build Firestall/beat Grabbow. Also add fodder. Also SoV is a nice card, but it's up for debate whether it's worth putting in starting vault for Light.
    That's just off the top of my head

    It is really impressive that the guy who gave up on trying to win the event wins the event after all. Gratz, team :darkness!

    Darkness

    Insert epic speech here.
    No really, feel free to insert one for me.

    After all these wars, I might now be the most experienced Master generaling in war, but I gave up on trying to win like 6 wars ago.
    Yet here I am.
    Again.
    Just hoping to have some fun.
    All people looking for fun should join Darkness, I'll do all the required stuff, y'all just come on over and relax.
    Though you can join and put in some effort, too.
    If you want.
    Then, maybe, we may even be able to win this war.
    Together.
    That's fun, too, right?

    So, regardless of what it is you want, as long as it includes fun: join Darkness!
    And if you don't like fun, here is how you spell it: "Bans: Darkness".

    Will the little icon at the top of the tabs be changed to the :darkness now too?

    It already has. Refresh the page if it hasn't already.

    A year earlier someone asked if it is possible to make those icons different for each sections. I would welcome that version,
    it is really annoying that all elements-related tab has the same icon...
