I think this ruling is strange but don't matter to much since it's only benefit teams with small vaults. If it had benefited top teams only that would have been more problematic.

It also has a big impact for top teams because of last round's EC, for those that bet on light dying this round...

That's similar to salvaging cards and discarding them in the same round, which is not allowed.

So, team :light did the salvage/discard from round 6 before round 7 deckbuilding phase. Seems fair. This is bending the rules to a whole new level.

I am trying to make things clear here. Here are some "facts" from what I observed (from chat, spreadsheets and posts)

After R6 DB phase, :light vault has 102 cards instead of 104 (because they forgot the extra salvage). This accident was discussed between team :light and WMs during R6 Duel Phase, where they agreed to make that a transmutation instead. (this should leave them at 103 cards, and the transmutation would be reflected on R6 modifier) This is practically a late modification of vault, while acknowledged by WMs. Do WMs hold the responsibilties for this? Is this allowed from the rules? This is the first problem.

The second problem: While still during R6 Duel Phase (presumably after all 4 team :light matches), team :light contacted WMs and ask for a transmutation from their R6 salvages, because that would leave them at 103 + 12 (2 match salvage) - 40 (2 match discard) - 1 (transmutation they asked for) = 74 cards, which in turns become what you guys can see now in R7 thread (2 matchs for :light) and in standings page (74 cards, with the modifier already included). This is clearly an early modification of vault, which also affects the whole R7 matchups (and to some people, relic bets).

Personal opinion here. The first problem sounds like a minor penalty as it doesn't really disrupt war. However the second problem is much more severe as it affects quite a few aspects of the progress of War. In both cases WMs are a part of it. I am sincerely hoping for a public official response on this matter.

It would have been better if light just titled one of their threads wrong and taken a two card penalty... this I literally the worst possible solution to "give us -2 cards"

Which I might add I support. This wAR has been very "anti bottom teams" so far, with an even designed to tank weak elements, and a two deck minimum.

So if Fire wanted 4 matches I should have contacted warmasters ahead of time to break rules and get an official stamp of approval for it? I mean come on, if anyone has trouble with cards/match it's Fire. (127/5=25.4)

Oh, and where's Death's penalty for changing their mark vs Water last round? We're not allowed to but they get away with it unpenalized by not asking wms in advance? Do wms hate Fire/me so much as to make an exception for everyone but Fire?
