I agree with deuce and not because I expect team Fire to perform so much better this round. The event card with transmutations imply you are going to try and maximize salvage regardless of the usefulness of the salvage, especially combined with the EC last round. People with precognition that went with multiple salvagers are heavily advantaged by this EC.

I suppose transmutation from round 3 is the choice for this round and hence the EC applies to that, but the pool of cards available to transmute from were already decided last round. Meaning you have no further influence on them this round, which may well be slightly unique.

Let's take an extreme -but remarkably similar- example of an event card that most people will agree to be bad (I hope): "gain 1 relic for each win last round".

It's a win-more EC. These kind of ECs are bad.

"Oh, you won 4-1? Here's some bonus relics."
"You had a bad round? Too bad."

Even so, I don't think changing ECs mid-round is a good idea. Just keep this in mind for the future ECs. They should either help both the winners and the losers, or something similar to the previous ones (but some effects that are actually worth using)

as much as I hate to give /anything/ to aether at this point I have to agree, this doesn't fit what ECs should. It gives more to those who have already gotten. I disagree with this style of EC, and i'd like to see future cards avoid this. Im not sure what can be done at this point about this round...

Tbh, your biased rant is probably just as constructive.
I like the EC, even though we didn't do so well, we had worse ECs, some that changed the result of war, and no one changed them.

Ultimately, I'm ok with bad EC's. But I have no tolerance for EC's that are unbalanced.

But its not unbalanced. I would rather take 2 graboids than 1 upped salvager. As said, its early so teams are unable to transmute into "good cards", unless they lost a lot. I guess we will find out at the end of phase to see how used EC was, but i doubt it will be used much.

The EC isn't unbalanced. There was an information deficit, sure, but the result of "gain relics for transmute" isn't inherently unbalanced-- you don't know the number of wins you'll have next round, either. I have no major complaints about the EC, though I will say that the timing is odd-- it would've been much more effective in a later round, when teams are actually low on key in-element cards. As is, I doubt there's any team that really benefits from exchanging two cards for one niche in-element card and a relic.

But it IS unbalanced. Some teams are capable of utilizing it for up to 12 relics, and others 3.

12 relics is A LOT, and that is game changing late in war. Whether teams decide to utilize that vs salvaging "useful" cards is debatable. But as Torb said, this EC mainly benefits teams that won games in a previous round giving them potentially an even bigger advantage. No EC should ever do that.

WMs, please modify the EC in some way, shape, or form to make it more balanced.

In general, the amount of choices you get for using an event card, should not be proportional to the amount of wins you had last round.

The easiest fix for this, is to simply let the EC apply to a maximum of one match won. I don't think any team will have a problem with that change.

War should encourage winning and offer more rewards if you win, no? Quoting haink, "I suggest encouraging "winning" over "not losing". I think one of the most annoying things in war is that the award of winning is vastly dwarfed by the award of not losing."

Is there a distinction between winning last round and winning in this round? Regardless of the matchups, you're trying to win all 5 matches either way, and you can't tell if you'll win a match until it's over. If the EC meant the matches of this round instead of the matches of last round, would it matter to you?
