WAR #3 - ROUND 7

News:
There will be 26 pairings this round covering 3 days of deckbuilding and 3 days of dueling.
Discard for losing this round is 30.

First Elimination
Gravity left us last round but put up a good fight. Even with the loss of their Master they carried on and put as much of their spirit into their play as they could. Unfortunately a mistake in their vault left them with less than enough cards to carry on.

Event Card:

Shapeshifting:
Before each duel: Remove up
to 6 cards from your deck.

*The Full complete deck must be posted in the deck topic and in the Match results.
*If your deck was 36 cards, you could play 3 different variations for the match if you wanted.
*If you play a 30 card deck you can't possibly remove any cards.
*Your Mark may not change
*A deck need only be legal in its full state.

Deckbuilding:
Duel phase has started
Teams have to build decks for all players who are fighting during this round. Decks are to be posted on the secret team section. Team Deckbuilder starts the topic, and all team members participate in the planning. Please do not post your decks in public or talk about them in chat.

All decks must be made ready before the timer goes to zero, after which editing deck post is strictly forbidden. Failure to have all the decks ready will lead to a severe card penalty, and/or automatic losses. It is highly recommended that all team members double-check their decks before the duels start.

Duels:
Round has ended
Duel phase starts when deckbuilding ends.

PM your opponent and try to find a time that suits you both. Time Zone Converter (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html) might be useful here. If you cannot find a time when you are both are online, please contact Warmasters (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=293,3167) Kael Hate or ddevans96 immediately. If the match doesn't happen, you both lose by default, unless one of you is clearly more active and/or more flexible.

Duels are "best-of-three", you must use the deck and mark built during the previous phase, and you cannot make any changes to your deck or mark during the round.
Please make sure you record your duels correctly.

Notes:

An Audit of Team Water found the Following Discrepancies
- Round 4 SPDC In Error - Penalty 6 Cards
- Round 5 SPDC In Error - Penalty 6 Cards
- Round 6 Illegal Decks, Overuse of cards. First deck already lost Penalty 6 cards (Impossible to forfeit after the fact) Second Deck had, won so is reverted to a loss. 36 cards (Salvage and Discards must come from those gains if possible) and 30 card reperations to team Death (Cards will be those that were discarded)

An Audit of Life found many successive Penalties, totalling 120 cards in Adjustments (To be Noted Later)
One of these was a retraction of a winning game against Entropy. Here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,26011.0.html) Reperations of 31 cards will be paid. (That must be chosen from that Battle.)

11    Gen. Zeru   vs    Gen. Napalm Grenade

sevs again, and our Lt. vs Entropy again x)

Another event card that supposedly helps large-vault teams. Funny how the last one didn't, at all. Worst round for both Wadurr and Aether x)

For the shapeshifting card, is the mark flexible as well?  i.e., could one build a gravity deck with gravity pendula and include both dune scorpions and deathstalkers, removing one or the other before each duel and changing the mark from time to death?

No the mark is not flexable.

Let's say a 36-card deck has exactly 50% in-element cards. Is it permitted to remove enough of them as part of the event card's effect so that the remaining 30 or so cards would not be a legal deck?

Being where they are entropy should want the top teams now because it gives them the best chance to pull closer.  Also a lot of the teams in the top half are playing each other now because they make up such a large proportion of the duals happening.  The top 6 teams are involved in 37 duals compared to the bottom 6 in just 15 duals.

:earth fights the same teams and more.
:aether fights the same teams and more.
:fire fights the same teams and more.
:water fights the same teams.
:darkness fights the same teams.

The luckiest team this round is UW. They got lots of crapshot opponents. (They are in the same boot as earth was last round).

Don't expect anything to change. The seeding system maximizes the number of teams you are playing against, so soon enough the top team will have absolute certainty who they fight against.

I sense heavy exploitation possibilities. Building a deck with 18/30 in-element cards removing 6 pillars before each fight is nice. Also, UW shall love this card. :-/

I know it was looked down upon to strategize between matches (IIRC darkness was upset) what is the time limit that we have in between matches to switch cards?

Oh and the Upgraded cards must stay the same right?

Keep it to the minimal.
Let your opponent know how long you will need so they are not waiting.
If there is an extensive delay that the opponent is not aware of, report it to a Warmaster or SG.
Deliberately stalling out an opponent or running out their time will not be looked upon favourably if the pairing is not completed.

Oh and the Upgraded cards must stay the same right?
You can only remove cards, not change their upgraded status or not.

I noticed that the notes regarding the Event Card says that a deck post with the full deck is required for both the deck topic and the match thread.  However, do we need to post the deck code for each modification of the same deck we use?  Or do we just need to make note of which cards were removed during each subsequent game, if any?

On a more sophisticated note: Perevpic QuantumT you better kill Valimont LongDono, shove his arms down his throat, kick him to the gutter, tie his shoelaces together, cement him to a footpath, drown him in a lake, shave his eyebrows and feed him to the sharks. And in style.

(That was support for Air, not against any of Entropy Underworld's players so this doesn't get taken the wrong way)
And like always, no pressure  ;)

With the ruling that Water lost their R6 match to Death due to the illegal deck, the numbers in both the table in the first post and in the Standings thread aren't accurate; Water should be listed as having gone 1-7 and Death 4-4.

Yeah it was like a quasi-bye. Not sure if this was actually beneficial for us or detrimental (i'm guessing it kinda evened out). I'm just happy we get 30 cards back but too bad for team :water. They fought so valiantly to end like this. Kind of like death last war.

They were a classy team that I respect. RR wanted to prove Water could do well in War, and I think everyone will remember how they were second for a while. Of course, PlayerOa is just continuing the silly banter RR started, and that's part of the fun of War. No harm as far as I'm concerned.

Well, we could've easily got even 4th to last if we actually wanted to survive this round. But we kind of euthanazised ourselves in shame and losses.

Yeah it does hurt to go down like this.

As I already said in another topic, two things were most important for me this war.
- Proving Team Water can build solid war-decks and compete in war like any other team.
- Get to be respected and feared as a team, while keeping a mature and friendly attitude towards others (except Zeru ;) ).

Either way, it was fun while it lasted! I'm also happy to see the winning team at this moment is mature and friendly aswell.
