Odd Couples

Two player teams.  Teammates create unupped mono decks of opposing elements, any mark is ok as are non-mark "other" cards (ie. if player A makes a mono-dark with a death mark, his teammate must make a mono-light deck).

In this Swiss-Style tourney, both teammates must play each of their two opponents in one game only.  A win is one point, a loss is zero.  Most points after five rounds wins.  No-shows count as 0.75 points.

Score Handicapping

Players are separated into five categories according to score.  All cards are allowed in deckbuilding.  In this Swiss-Style tourney winners are awarded points equal to 5 + your quintile - opponent's quintile.  So winners will be awarded 6-10 points.

In any round a player may choose to use an alt account (with an observed W/L of 0) and drop down to the lowest score bracket.

Pillar Envy

Pillars and marks used one round are not available for your use in future rounds.

I have an idea.

Heaven and Hell

It's a double-elimination tournament which, like all double-elimination tournaments, uses winners brackets and losers brackets. When you lose once, you drop down to losers bracket. When you lose the second time, you are out. Here a visual:

Winners brackets would be Heaven. In Heaven you can only use the following elements:  :air :life :light :water

Losers brackets would be in Hell when you go after the first loss. There you can only use:  :darkness :death :earth :fire

Finals would be held in Purgatory (place between Heaven and Hell). Winner of Heaven and winner of Hell would fight each other using only:  :aether :entropy :gravity :time

My idea may seem complicated, but...

Elements of Round

Twelve teams (one or two players by team), one per element. Each round, the teams are shown in a circle, like this :

 :aether > :air > :darkness > :death > :earth > :entropy > :fire > :gravity > :life > :light > :time > :water > :aether

First rule :

All teams start with 20 points. During a round, a team (called A) can challenge one opponent (called B). B may not be challenged by any other team this round. B can refuse the battle if he has posted after A, but loses 3 points.

In other words, if you post early, you can choose whoever you want but you won't be able to refuse a battle.

Second rule :

You must have the Mark of your Element, but you can use any cards from your element or the 2 adjacent elements on the circle (+ Other cards)

For example, with the circle above, Death Team may use Mono Darkness with Death Mark...

Third rule :

If you are victorious, you earn 2 points. The adjacent elements' teams earn 1 point.
If you are defeated, you lose 7 points.

If a team which has no more points can not play (and earn points) anymore, but stay in the circle.

Last rule :

At the end of the round, teams which have fought swap their positions in the circle (in the order of the challenges).

---

About the length of the event : total amount of points is 240, and every challenge (accepted or not) decrease it by 3 points. So, there would be maximum 80 matches...

That's it.
Went AWOL. No reason.
Now silent. May return.

Thanks for all the ideas. We'll have someone look at them and pick the best ones. These ideas will then be further developed into PvP events.

Keep those ideas coming.

SG, you have my idea in your inbox for a month or so now. I'm still patiently waiting for a response  :))
Hm.. I went to see your PM and I have replied to it. Not sure what I replied, but the "you have replied to this" stamp is there. :)

Like I said before, I like your event idea, and hopefully it will be run at some point.

I will appoint Main PvP Organizer(s) soon. You should PM your idea to him/her/them, or just post it here. If you don't have it anymore, I can forward it. Organizers will collect all the ideas, further develop the best ones, and start events at suitable intervals.

The response was something along the lines "I like the idea, but am busy atm with war etc etc, will get back to you soon". :) But nevermind now, its been a while, I'm just glad we have this section up and running now :)
I'm coming back from my vacation in 2 days, and I'll spend more time in front of the computer, so I'd also like to apply to one of those PvP Organizer thingies. PvP is the only reason why I play this game, so I think I could help there a bit :)
But anyway, I'll be happy to forward the idea to anyone who gets elected for the job.

Hm I just got a nice idea.
Make a PVP event where national teams are fighting each other in tournament until one team is a winner.
How would that work?
First , captain of each national team (lets say active player with the highest score ) would choose 4 more members of the national team that he thinks that they would be the best to represent his country.
16 teams would be divided in tournament brackets. Every round would last for 3 days: first day unupgraded decks only, second day - upgraded decks , no restrictions, third day - themed decks, like mono , 60 card decks etc . All 5 team members would fight other team members every day randomly drawn.
The team with more individual wins in 1 day would get 1 point. At the end of the round team with more points advance to next round.
The winners of the tournament could be declared as world champions and they would hold that title until next national teams event ( for 3 months for example), and would also get a forum icon ˝national team champion" or "world champion", something like that.

I think it would be fun, and I don`t believe it would be too difficult to organize it.

There has been an event like that before. I believe it was USA vs. the rest of the world. I believe that was because, at the time, about half of the players belonged to one group and the other half to the other.

Interesting ideas guys. Here's another:

TEAM TURMOIL

Introduction:

You've done it. You alongside 2 of your closest friends have managed the greatest city bank heist of all time. Riding back with your riches however, the permeating silence allows for thoughts to enter your mind, greedier thoughts than you would've expected...

Do you want it all?

This is a 3 player team event with each player assigned a position of 1 - 3. Their positions are to be agreed within the teams and submitted by PM to the Event Organizer before the event begins.

In this event, trust binds the team together with each member unable to decide certain aspects of deckbuilding for themselves and even relying on each other to get the team to the grand finals. There is where it gets tricky... how will you handle facing the ones you trusted for so long? How strong are the bonds that tie you?

Organization:
The event will have a maximum of 48 spots open and thus 16 teams. Player 1s must face each other in a standard tournament format until there is 1 winner. Player 2s must face each other in a standard tournament format when the Player 1 phase is over. Player 3s must face in a standard tournament format when the Player 2 phase is over. The team with the most amount of points ends up facing each other.

Deck Building:
All decks must be a standard size of 45 cards and thus each player should start off with 38 cards in their deck after drawing their first hand.No mark cards or shards are permitted.Maximum upgraded cards vary from round to round:
Duel 1 matches can be played with a maximum of up to 3 upgraded cardsDuel 2 matches can be played with a maximum of up to 6 upgraded cardsDuel 3 matches can be played with a maximum of up to 9 upgraded cardsDuel 4 matches can be played with a maximum of up to 12 upgraded cardsDuel 5 matches can be played with a maximum of up to 15 upgraded cardsDuel 6 matches can be played with a maximum of up to 18 upgraded cards[/list]
Player 1s must create a dual element deck. The 2 elements that Player 1s must use are up to Players 2 and 3 of Player 1's respective team and must submit them by PM to the Event Organizer. Player 2 and 3 can select 1 element each for Player 1 to use. Player 1 is at liberty to select any mark and include Neutral (Other) cards in his or her deck. The same pattern outlined above applies to players 2 and 3 of each team. The other 2 players of their team are allowed to select 2 different elements for them to create their deck out of and each player is at liberty to select any mark and include Neutral (Other) cards in their decks.
    Point System:
Points are collected from Duel rounds 1 - 4. Points collected during those rounds affect Duels 5 and 6.A victory gives the team and the player 2 points, a loss gives the team and player 1 point and an absence gives the team and player 0 points. Points are given to both teams and players separately due to the fact that the players of the team with the most points, which will be called Team Alpha end up facing each other.Should there at any point be a tie of score which affects the following match up, a 1 round (1 PVP Duel) duel with the deck they last used occurs between those that are tied, and the winner obtains 1 point to his or her team and individual score.
    Showdown:
The player with the least points in Team Alpha faces the player with the second lowest amount of points. This match is considered Duel 5. The loser of this match receives
3rd place in the event. The winner of this match moves on to Duel 6.
The player who wins that match ends up facing the player from Team Winner with the most amount of points. This match is considered Duel 6. The loser of this match receives 2nd place in the event. The winner of this duel receives 1st place in the event.

Singelton games are interesting but too luck dependent in my opinion.  Having a max 2-3 cards for 30 card decks or 3-4 cards for 40 card decks is similar in idea but more fun from my experience.  But I think the other rules are great.
