Title: The Mourning Sage
Post by: 5aruman on August 18, 2015, 08:02:28 pm
Okay, so right off the bat, the name is a play on words (or attributes?) derived from the two key cards, Morning Glory and Shard of Wisdom.

I don't think this deck has such complexity that needs to be discussed. I did it for fun, mostly.

One little note: you'd want to use [.deck] [./deck] (get rid of the periods) for deck pictures so that people can more easily test your deck independently.
Like this:

Make that two little notes: Flying Morning Glory decks already requires two card for an (admittedly immaterial) 8/4 attacker, at a cost of 5 :light (Morning Glory) + one :chroma (Animate Weapon). Adding Shards of Wisdom is going to expand it to three cards, which gives you more space for the so-called "Murphy's Law" (if it can go wrong, it will) to work its magic. Especially since you're using only four Animate Weapon in a 30-decker (FW/AW-reliant decks, IIRC, usually uses six).

Oh, make that three little notes: what you do plan to do against spell-reflecting shields (Reflective Shields, Emerald Shields, and their upgraded variants)?

FW decks usually use 1 less FW than they have weapons. 3 weapons = 2 FW, 4 =3, and so on.
Against spell reflecting decks is simple.. don't use SoW until you know they don't have Reflect shields :)
This particular deck is also known as Lightning Blade and is highly effective.

My bad. I thought that everybody was acquainted with all the card nowadays. How could I have forgotten to include the deck code? GAH!
As for the two shields, my idea was that rushing (yes, I was actually trying to turn this into a rush deck) the opponent with the MGs–especially seeing how they have 100 HP– would be more than enough. I play the MGs and Animate Weapons and go slowly on the opponent. Once I see any shield in play other than those you mentioned, I start using the SoW immediately, especially against Phase Shield and Bone Wall. If my opponent has either Reflective Shield or Emerald Shield which I would expect from a Life / Light user, I will first withhold the SoWs and go steady on him / her. When I'm close to OTK (One Turn Kill) I use all the SoWs in my hand. If one of my MGs already deals spell damage, I believe that my Phase Shields and Miracles will keep the opponent at bay. This is why I always use a single SoW or more on the same MG when I'm wary.

Sssh, don't let him know I'm testing him! :p
