Title: The Defensive Shrieker (Is it possible?)
Post by: hammythepig on February 04, 2011, 01:55:28 am
I slightly tweaked this classic shrieker rush:
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
55k 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58o 58s 58v 590 590 590 590 590 590 591 591 591 591 591 591 592 594 5rl 8ps

Still play your shriekers and graboids first.
Then play Pulverizer, and enchant it if possible.
Gravity Pillar is for using the Pulverizer.
Shield really helped my win/loss ratio especially if played early.

I almost always have extra quantum near the end of the game, and I figured out how to use it:
With extra quantum use Golden Hourglass to draw Shriekers faster,
and Stone Skin for an unsuspected heal when you have low health (who expects healing in a rush?).
REMEMBER TO STILL PLAY GRABOIDS AND SHRIEKERS FIRST!

:earth :time :earth This is for AI3 and lower.  :earth :time :earth
I'm also going to try it now on T50 and HB's, but I don't think it will work effectively.

Hmm... this is an interesting deck for sure, but there are several things that can make it better.

First of all, that :gravity pillar and the Pulverizer don't work well together. This is because if you draw your Pulverizer before your :gravity pillar, you wouldn't be able to use its ability. I'd recommend taking both of them out in exchange for a single cheaper weapon- say, a Short Sword or Hammer.

Secondly, your Golden Hourglass looks out of place. You'd want to use an Hourglass early in order to draw more cards to attack faster or set up your defenses earlier. However, early on in the game you are using your :time quanta for your Graboids; you wouldn't want to use it on your Hourglass then. As such, the Hourglass cannot be used in the early game and in the late game it isn't nearly as effective. I recommend simply taking it out.

Everything else looks okay. I love the "surprise defensive" twist to this deck ;) Good job!

i would take out most, if not all the shriekers, pulvy, grav pillar, hourglass, and enchant
add in more SS, 1 more shield, and a couple of RTs

You went over the 30 cards quite a bit, and the pillar and shrieker amount is huge. In a backed rush or a half rush I wouldn't go over the 32/33 cards. The rest is right. Your single backup cards do not fit into that deck. A rush is no healer stall. How will you save some quantas if you ever draw the stone skin?

I would make it way simpler than this. 13/15 pillars, graboids and 4/6 golems. You still have some room for shields/BB/rewinds. I think enchant artifact is often redundant, but you can use 1 or 2. If you're counting on any card, I wouldn't put a single one in a deck. Can take quite a while to draw....

The pulverizer works better with mark of gravity, then you ditch the graboids. Totally different deck. Golems are good, but you will be slower.

Stone skin really works best if you defend heavily and do not attack. When you obtain the 75  :earth you can lay down your best units and heal yourself a few times. In a rush it can only be a mediocre card, since usually you will not have any quanta. I found that a deck with ''time mark+CC/earthcontrol/dragons/shields'' will do to stall, as well as the ''gravity mark /pulvy/earthcontrol/dragons/shields.'' Earthquake and reverse time is excellent to stall, earthquake and pulvy or gravity force also. Many variations are possible. If you have 75 quanta anyway the dragons are a nice touch, and not many people can stop them.

Well, near the end of some games, I have lots of my shriekers/graboids down, and I realize that because of all the pillars, I have lots of quantum left over.
since usually you will not have any quanta.
I DO usually have enough, and Stone Skin can really help when you draw pillar after pillar when waiting for shriekers.

I could change pulvy for hammer, then take out grav pillar...

And hour glass could be removed too, it doesn't really help that much...

Thanks for all your opinions so far!
