8th Trials - Phase 2: Tournament of Masters https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=55176.msg1148182#msg1148182

Master's Phase 2
The Masters' Tournament

General Rules:
  • Masters were divided at random into 2 pools of 3 Masters each
  • Masters will play each other Master in their pool once
  • Once these pool matches are completed, Masters will be seeded into a single elimination tournament based on their record in pool play
  • Matches as best of 5 - First player to win 3 games wins the match
  • Players will be awarded points in pool play as follows:
    • 3 points for winning 3-0 or 3-1
    • 2 points for winning 3-2
    • 1 point for losing 2-3
  • If a match is not played before the Pool Play timer ends, it will be ruled a forfeit for the player who made the least attempt to ensure the match was played.
    • That is a 3-0 win for the demonstrably more active player
  • If both players can provide sufficient evidence that they tried to make a match happen, but were unable to complete it, the TrOs reserve the right to award up to 1 point to each player
    • That is a 3-2 loss for both players
  • These points will be used for seeding the tournament, and also are part of the Master's score for Phase 2
  • If a "bye" is necessary due to the number of participants, the "bye" will be given to the highest seeded Master who has not yet received a bye
    • This is regardless of if that Master was General in war
    • Because a bye gets you deeper into the tournament, it cannot negatively affect your score
  • Additional points will be rewarded for tournament results based on participation
    • If 6 competitors, there will be 2 pools of 3
      • There are 6 points possible in pool play.
      • The Tournament will award 10 points for first, 8 points for second, 6 for 3rd/4th, 4 for 5th/6th
      • Spoiler for Hidden:
  • The winner for each match should post in the TRIAL BATTLE RESULTS SECTION
    • The post should be titled :[Trials 8 - Masters] [winner'sElement] Winner'sName # - # Loser'sName [loser'sElement]
    • The loser should post in the thread the winner created
      • NO DECKS SHOULD BE POSTED UNTIL AFTER ROUND 2 HAS ENDED
      • Check the bottom of this post for timers and warning
      • Please save your decks for easy posting after the round ends
Match Rules:
  • In the event of a desync, the players should play it out vs the AI on both sides
    • If the same player wins in both "games", they are considered the winner of that game
    • If the two "games" result in wins for different players, the game is voided, and players may not switch decks before the next game.
  • If it is obvious that a game will never end (e.g. if both players have zero net damage output -- where they can both heal off the damage done each turn easily -- and will never deck out, and both players have no means of breaking the stalemate), that game voided, and players may switch decks prior to the next game.
  • Voided games do not count towards Elements used in the match.
  • In the event an illegal deck is used in any game (whether that game was voided at the time of the match or not) the user of the illegal deck will be given a loss for that game (and their opponent a win).  It is possible this will invalidate subsequent games and/or alter the outcome of that match.
  • Losing access to the game during a match (refreshing the tab, clicking on ad that isn't a popup type, closing the tab/window/browser/computer, power outage, pet elephant stepping on your computer ect) counts as a loss (a win for your opponent). You only lose 1 game through this, not the match (unless your opponent already had 2 wins prior to that game)
  • You may use each off-element in Phase 2 once per match
  • "Other" is considered an off element
  • You may only use one all in-element deck per match. This deck may NOT use off-element cards
  • You may use no more than 3 shards per deck
  • Shards may only be used in games 2 and 4
  • After every game, you must tell your opponent what elements you used in the previous game, but you should not share decklists or specific cards.
  • If you run out of elements to use at a point during the match, the rest of your games count as a loss. If both players run out of elements at the same time, the rest of the matches are voided.

Deckbuilding Rules:
  • Deck may be of any size
  • You may use any mark
  • Deck must be at least 40% in element rounded up (including pillars/pends)
  • Your deck may NOT contain more cards of any off-element than it does of your in-element
  • Your deck must contain at least 25% off element cards (rounded down) unless it is your once per match all in-element deck
  • "Other" Cards are considered off-Element for all elements
  • Mark cards are treated as pillars of the element whose quanta they produce for all deckbuilding rules
  • Using a Pillar/Pendulum/Mark card counts as using the Element that Pillar/Pendulum/Mark card belongs to
    • This means Quantum Pillars are "Other" cards, and are Off-Element for all elements
    • Using a Quantum Pillar counts as using the "Other" Element
  • You may as many upgraded cards per deck as there are in-Element cards in that deck
  • You may use the upgrades on any cards in the deck
    • So your mono deck can be fully upgraded, all other decks will be between 40% and 75% upgraded depending on how in-Element the deck is
    • If you have 15 in element cards, you can have 15 upgraded cards.  The in-element cards do not need to be upgraded.

I think we made it pretty straight forward.  I almost made it more complicated, but it seems a little weird to award bonus points for winning games with all-pillar decks.

legal.  the mark of the deck does not count as the use of an off-element card.  Mark cards would however.

also ya couple other reminders while I am here.
1) Yes all in element decks can be all upgraded.
2) You can only use 1 all in element deck per match

I missed the phase 1 is that mean I am not allowed to join this competition?

Even if you had been eligible for Phase 1, and you did participate in it, this tournament is only for Masters (players who won their element in the previous trials). Challengers (players trying to defeat a Master, and take their place) have a different Phase 2, in which they battle each other.

I really like the rules and the wording.
Well done, TrO's!

Only the time is a bit too short IMO. Can work, though.
