OK, I've decided not to participate in another trial(I think). Is there such a thing as a fifth reserve spot, this time around? Just on case the unlikely chance of one of the other contestants has to drop out before the event truly begins?

Sure, you could do that, but I don't recommend it. Anyways, it's your choice.
