Phase 2 - Community Vote
Phase 2 has ended

It's time to vote for your favorite Master candidate.

Every community member has one vote. You can change your vote at any time as long as there is still time on the clock.

Vote based on who you think would make the best Master of that element. Do not vote based on who is the best player or who you know personally. Try to pick someone who you think would help the community the most.

Feel free to ask the candidates difficult questions to help you make your decision.

Greetings ladies and gentlemen, mortals, daemons, elementals or whatever you are.

My name's Xinef and I'm the Master of the best element. Having control over time is quite a power... now is your time to decide if this power will remain in my hands, or should I give it to one of the great warriors competing for it. As long as it's given to a true Time Warrior and Time Lover I'm happy with it.

I'll make it clear, I'm much more attached to Time than to the Master title, so no hard feelings if you don't vote for me. I don't think of myself as a great PvPer and I'm amazed every time I manage to beat someone strong. I'll sooner attribute the victory to the awesomeness of Time or to the great people who support me, though I feel a bit better with my deckbuilding skills and if you ever need advice with a time based deck feel free to ask.

I'm not a kind of person who would sit long hours in chat (I prefer organized, archived means of communication), and I enter chat only when I have an arranged battle, but I'm usually checking the forum a few times a day... and night ;)

If you want to know anything more about me before you vote, I'll say that my main hobby is world creation and it has a few side effects. Such as my fascination with programming and computer graphics, both aimed at game development which I find a pretty damn good way of expressing the worlds I create.

I live in Poland, near Gdańsk and I'm a 21 year old good daemon, currently during the third year of Informatics studies. I'm interested in martial arts (I'm training aikido but I'd be more interested in kenjutsu :P ), fantasy and science fiction, strategy games (RTS, turn based, economical) and RPG :P . To be honest I can be interested in pretty much anything but football, celebrities and politics, although politics not necessarily.

Anything more you'd like to know, feel free to ask.

Xinef

I voted Bo, mainly for the reason that he not only is active on the forums, but also in chat, and in my mind a master should be active in both areas. That and I know from personal experience he is a great pvp player (though Xinef is pretty good with  :time ;) ). And in Xinef's post right there I dare say he sounded almost condescending of the chat.

Both are great choices, however.

Xinef, I enjoy your sense of humor and I almost instantly voted for you when I read:

My name's Xinef and I'm the Master of the best element.
But then you made me a sad panda with:

To be honest I can be interested in pretty much anything but football
I put some serious thought into question: are people that dont like football capable of being masters, especially when they come from a country notorious for their hooligans?
Then I decided I'd turn my head around and vote for you anyway, as hopefully in :time you'll change your views about the second most important thing in the world.

It's not true that I don't like football. I'm just not interested in it. I have a lot of friends interested in football though, so you can always hope they'll change my mind.

On the other hand my approach to football might be similar to my approach to chess. I know the rules, but I prefer to invent my own rules - it's more fun. You can use chess to play a siege, with one side being a fortress and the other one being an invading army. You can play football with Shaolin kicks and lightsabers.

And by the way, if you might be interested, I broke my finger once playing football. That damn goal attacked me and I had to defend myself. That's what happens when my friends ask me play football with them :P

I think Kuro should post one of his infamous questions here as well! And answer it too

Why should you vote for me to be the master of :time? I will give you my credentials and my reasons - think about it like a public resume. First and foremost, :time has been my favorite element since the day I joined elements. When I first signed up for the forums, I was excited to edit my profile and get to know the elements community, and I came upon a particularly interesting section of my profile - my favorite element. Having just a week or so of elements experience, I scrolled through the different names, thinking about which element I liked, and some kind of intangible draw kept bringing me back to :time. I chose it, and haven't thought about changing it since. Time is the element that controls all other elements. It has the power to change the entire flow of a game and a deck. What other element can control your opponents hand indefinitely and move through a 30 card deck in 10 turns? That's what i thought. Anyways, I've been looking forward to the trials since I joined the forums and elements community, and wanted to hold out until I knew I would be ready as an effective leader of :time.

After running this past PvP League, being a warrior of :time under Xinef (we exceeded expectations), and being an active member in both chat and on the forums (unfortunately all 3 of us have about the same number of posts :P), I've tried to emerge as a leader naturally, without the title of master, and I think i've been as successful as I could hope for. I've met a lot of new players through the PvP league, and I can clearly see that elements is growing and heading in the right direction, and I want to lead the :time niche that will develop.

If you look in the :time war archives, you'll see that I was building decks from the get-go and always cheering my team on. If you look at the PvP League threads, you'll see I kept them actively updated and was fair in mediating any problems that ever arose. If you look in the humor section, you will see a thread that says Robinson218 is better than me, well, that's true. But! If you look anywhere on the forums, I've tried to make my mark and help out the community as best as I can.

I'm not going to tell you to vote for me, just keep in mind the qualities of a strong leader: activeness in leading, confidence, honesty, ability, and maybe even friendliness, and think about any interactions you've had with me. If you think I've proven myself to be these things, only then should you cast your vote.

I think Kuro should post one of his infamous questions here as well! And answer it too.
You asked, I'll supply. ;) (this is more of a 'personal' question, rather than some super elite pvp/deckbuilding question)

Q: "Time is generally separated into 3 aspects. Past, Present, and Future. Which 'aspect' of time do you feel you connect with the best and why?"

And for me, I say I choose the past.
(I'm probably going to be shooting myself in the foot here, but oh well)

People who look into the future and idealize are important in any system. Without people planning things ahead of time, nothing would change, and nothing would become progressive and or innovative. From that, I do have a tendency to have crazy dreams and ideals, but that's not a representation of being a futuristic person. It just shows that I often idealize or day-dream to escape the time-stream in question, which isn't very productive. ^^; Likewise, people who look into the present are people who are constantly doing what needs to be done now, which is also vital for any system, because without maintenance, a system also falls apart over time.

That said, I would be a person of the past.

My name means 'Dark Sorrow (or regret, depending on your take of 'aitou')', mainly because I always felt bad for my actions as a kid; other kids called me a crybaby because of me feeling guilty for doing ANYTHING wrong. As time grew on though, I tried to hold dear of the memories I had as a kid and did my best to learn from my mistakes (both in school and at home), and despite the regret, I've built myself up from those experiences.

And because of this 'guilt', I feel that being a Master includes having the ability to not only look into one's own mistakes on how to correct them, but also the mistakes (and achievements) of others.

Being a person of the past requires looking into ideas of the past and how to apply them in current (or future) applications, and thus, as a 'Nostalgic' guy who's also just barely 21, I tend to look at older posts to get a sense of what people do and how people are like, and how they've grown from those 'newbie' posters to Full, Senior, or Staff Members in-game. :) In that sense, I want others to also grow the way I've grown on this forum (for such a short time too!) in any aspect of the forum I can help them with, especially Card ideas.

Because of this, I know that both Xinef and bojengles77 have had massive amounts of experience and knowledge under their belt, whether in PVP, card design, deckbuilding, and/or the war archive. But as a former competitor of the first Time (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,5330.msg59929#msg59929) Trials (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,5330.msg59940#msg59940), I'll say these things again:

I believe that I've learned a lot from Xinef and from my past to become an impressive master over Time. I know that I'm not perfect, but I'm still willing to prove myself of a capable warrior and provide my all to the community at large in any aspect of the game whenever possible. I'll continue to challenge my PVP skills (which I ultimately lacked during the first War - but it won't happen again in the second!), and regardless of whether or not I gain the title, I know that I'll keep on striving to be the a fighter for the Element of Time.

...oh, and remember folks - if for any reason you had clicked on my name by accident for the vote, feel free to use the 'Remove Vote' button and vote for the person who you think deserves to be the master. :)

[@bojengles77 + @Xinef: Sorry about the rant - hopefully you guys will answer my question as well. ^^;]

Ok, I'm going to give a short reply because your answer is very convincing and I hope it brings you some votes. You really deserve some and I don't want to steal too many votes with my answer :P

So, I'd consider myself a person of the future.
Mainly because I see myself as a young soul, still learning and preparing for the great tasks that await me.
I'll change the world, I'm even changing it now, but it's nothing when compared to what I plan to do :P
But first, I have to learn the world.

My sensei once told me "Xinef, you like to create worlds and you strive to make them perfect. Go and see the world I created, observe it from the inside, see it from the human perspective, and you'll understand."

That's why I'm here. Learning the world which I know is perfect even if it superficially does not seem so. Trying to manipulate it from the creations point of view, instead of creators PoV. Learning the differences between humans and daemons and why both are perfect in their own way.

And having fun :)

It seems learning and manipulating worlds seems almost as fun as creating them, so all I have to do is keep going, and interacting with people and stuff.

So yeah, see you in the future ^_^
May the force of the D4HK side be with U ^_^

I voted for Kuro because he's the underdog and I think he could do just as good a job as Xinef and Bojengles.

I agree. I think :time trials are going to be tough from beginning to end, because it's one of the only trials where everyone involved is qualified.
