Tears rolling down my face, appropriate for Water, I think.

Synopses to come shortly.

For reference: We mutually agreed not to ban SoP, and also made it exempt from the shard rules, treating it like a normal Water card.

1) Argyroneta vs SoP Devs (W, 1-0)

Alright, go time. I started with a fast rush with potentially high control to help set pace. After a desync where I had the advantage, his Squid didn't show up at all in the face of a decent rush start, and I outsped him by a turn or two.

2) Flight 909 vs SoP Wardens/Oty (L, 1-1)

Another attempt at manipulating pace early. Welcome to Flight 909, my heaviest control stall, but I didn't have enough of it to contend with a swarm of growing CC creatures. I wavebolted a couple Pulvies, but without a Wings to protect me from serious damage, there was no realistic chance for me.

3) Misted Down vs IceSanc (L, 1-2)

Okay then, this is getting messy, let's revert to an old favorite. I saw Aether mark and was pretty hopeful, but he got a really good rush start. Luckily, I matched it with a strong stall start - despite not drawing pendulums to fuel Bone Wall I drew multiple Sundials and enough Novas to chain them, and held out long enough for Poison to kill him.

5) Camazotz vs Water DBH (W, 3-2)

With no Serpentine, I viewed this as my overall best deck, and given that I had yet to use SoP, now was the time. Discord trolled for a while, but I maintained a Squid to stop any Dragons that came out, eventually got some damage, and slowly whittled his health away.

6) Lostlorn vs Air Domin (L, 3-3)

I was expecting another stall, so I brought this as a change-of-pace stallbreak. He got an early Fog and sent out damage, while I gradually built up a collection of Crawlers and Spectres. Eventually I played a DS and got out a Dragon with it, and I could have won on the next turn with decent luck, but TStorm wiped that away and he killed me next turn.

I saw Light mark and deck size and flashed back to that horrendous Game 3. Luckily, everything went as it should have this game, and there was no way I was going to lose.

8) Gravybomb vs SoP Wardens/Oty (L, 4-4)

This was a mistake, I've never been happy with this and it definitely didn't work here. A Gravy Shield would have helped if he didn't draw Pulvies, and I didn't draw Titans, but this was still a disavantageous matchup against a powerful deck.

9) Camazotz vs Auburn/EQ Splash (W, 5-4)

At this point I was replaying Games 8 and 9 against Raving in my head, and after the previous game I was really worried I was going to lose again. That only got worse as the match went on, as I failed to play against EQ and he tore down my quanta, but a couple topdecked Pillars meant my Squid could hold down enough creatures for a large Vampire and Dagger to keep me alive, and once I realized I was a turn away from winning time stood still.

First, I want to say what a pleasure this Trials was. I thank everyone who voted for me, I'm sorry I couldn't (quite) win. I thank the community for accepting me so quickly, and the kind words and helpful deck tests. And most of all I thank my Master, ddevans96, for a thrilling Final Battle.

Note 1: We made a gentleman's agreement not to ban SoPa, and told TrOs about it. They thought this meant we wanted them unlimited, which was not our original intention, but once we were told about it with bans, we decided that we were happy with it. All other shards were 1 shard = 2 upgrades.

Note 2: you may wonder why my decks look so quanta tight, or sometimes my pillars are not split. This is because / why i banned discord, EQ and Tridant. This ban decision allowed me to build decks with a more creative / exact quanta balance.

All I needed was a squid. I wasn't expecting such a rushy deck, and the cloaks would have been great in a CC war. As it was, all I needed was a squid, but one just wouldn't come. 0-1.

Loved this deck. Dd banned steal and deflag in even games, in order, as in previous trials, to be able to run more Perm-Reliant decks in those games. This deck was a beast, and i should have used it even more than I did. The lone Oty is there to balance quanta, and in the hope that i would always have enough quanta to use at least one type of CC creature. 1-1.

This game lol. DD brought a hard counter in Steam Machines. Literally 95% Loss. Some how I had just enough for the intended deck-out. Dd had to put on calming music. I thought for the first time I might actually do this. 2-1.

I thought RNG was with me, so I went for my potentially fastest rush, and simultaneously my slowest flop. Easily capable of 5TTW, I had an average draw and could have hit him in 7, but for sundials. I went for this because it works against pretty much everything except Dims and Thunderstorm, so long as it has a good draw. Oh, and Sundials apparently. 2-2.

This was a touch RNGy too, but omg when it works it works. Don't underestimate 13 hitting dragons. Sadly, he got a squid out 1st turn, and while I managed to deny him using it most of the time, it just wasn't quite enough. 2-3. Worried again.

I just felt he was going to go more creature based, so I went for my heaviest Hard-CC deck. My slow and steady damage beat his faster one. 3-3.

I believe strongly that this BAD decision cost me the game. With SoP an option, using my deckout a second time was just insane. I don't know what I was thinking, as soon as the game started I realised how stupd the move was. I deserved to lose the whole match for this miscalculation. 3-4

Started without any earth pends, but drew one quickly. Half way through the game we both thought the game was mine, I had decimated his pillars and his squid could not freeze my nymphs with 1 Quanta. He top decked a pillar, and the rest, is history.

You Water types come up with the best deck names.

Congratulations on successfully defending the title, dd, and to you as well for putting up such a strong fight, JCJ. I would have loved to watch this final live, I can tell from the match writeups how tense this battle was. Good on you both, you've both done your Element proud!

A well-deserved congratulations for both defending, and giving a hard time doing so.

I'd love to work with Waterheads like you guys in a possible future War (if all stars align for that to happen). +1 for Shipwrecker and Camazotz, for both concept and naming. I also enjoyed seeing some classic deck-concepts with nice mix-ups here and there on both sides - the tension really must've been unbearable at times; good games.

Thanks :) I'd love that too, just have to hope dd wants me :P
