[9th Trial of Aether] deuce22 5 - 2 Zawadx https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=58806.msg1195570#msg1195570
« on: July 05, 2015, 01:34:34 pm »
Most games one of us hard-countered the other, but Zawadx had bad RNG in the 2 games that were competitive.

Game 1 - WIN
I had good quanta, early dragon and PU, couple of AMs in hand. Zawadx never played anything until we desync'd, said his quanta distribution was off.

Game 2 - WIN
Decided to play a high risk catatitan because it can win in 5 turns, but RNG easily trolls. Saw entropy mark, smiled, then no pends and assumed CP psions/spiders, which can be very fast. Suddenly supernova and EQ, then discord next turn. Thankfully, I drew LOTS of quanta, but was waiting for AW. He played a couple spiders. Once i drew AW and could OTK he started silence chaining. He knocked me down to 2 HP before silence ran out.

Game 3 - LOSS
Zawadx mindgated well. He had perfect draw and my quanta was terrible, I had no chance.

Decided to play a risky stall I made. Tested well against almost all rushes in this meta, except catatitan and blitzing PUgon...

Game 7 - WIN
RNG trolled zawadx here. His deck is quicker than mine, but RNG likes to troll catatitan. Zawadx drew LOTS of quanta, while I drew very little early on. Fortunately for me, he never drew a titan. 8ttw with my PUgon.

GGs zawa, could easily be 3-4 right now and still playing. You've improved much compared to last trials.

My nice little pet. Sky dragons have that 13 attack sweet spot, which makes this the best aggressive PUgons. But my inner Timmy got to me in this one; Damsels can be fast, but it doesn't provide any support and is bad vs AM, the very deck I expected G1. Wind towers would've given me the win pretty easily, as this deck stomp PUGons easily.

This deck was for my inner Johnny. It's a great concept and if it works it works very nicely. But it needs a near perfect draw to win, which I really should've considered. It did surprise deuce well, but lost by 3 HP in the end. Drew 2 silences and all non-damage cards just as needed, so it's not as unlucky as deuce thought.

Spoiler for Bonebolt vs Wormhole of Horror=WIN:

Yes I'm being a bit desperate with names~

Bonebolt is risky but I expected him to not play a stall. I actually thought he'd bring a rush to beat my domin designed to beat his stall, so I busted out my best domin. It worked, somewhat. One of the best Domins in the game > any other domin.

Wings were pretty strong for him, though sadly I wouldn't realize this till game 6. Went down as normal, I had ok draw and was hardcountered as expected.

Yay, changes! Smooth sailing for the most part, as this deck is geared vs this archetype very well. Fog was scary and it haxxed a bit early, but the turn I blitzed it let 3/4 in for win (I had second blitz in hand too, so decided to risk it)

Spoiler for MA vs Wormhole of Horror=LOSS:

IMO the one big mistake I made was playing MA here, despite wings showing obvious prevalence. Thought this would take down a break, but imo that was a bit misguided. Had I chosen to go to sleep at this point, there would've been a much fairer shot.

He had bad quanta, but in the end me not drawing Titan (6.64% chance, grr) was worse.

Congrats on 5th mastership in a row deuce, well deserved to say the least. May your scumbaggy sack of luck never run out :P

If there's interest in videos, I'll post them. Missed games 3-5 tho, sadly.

Unused decks (most of them have minimal testing, I focused on the decks I felt had best chances and consequently used above):
