I am totally lost at some of the rules posted. This is my first masters tourney, so maybe i'm just being an idiot. (Jenkar, stop rolling your eyes at me)

  • Masters may use up to 9 cards for every element declared.
This can be interpreted so many ways. Please clarify

  • Masters will not be able to call any element twice.
Is this within the same bo5 or between matches with other masters?

  • No Rare card (Shard, Rare Weapon, Nymphs, Squid, Miracle, Pharaoh) may be used more than once.
per bo5 or for the entire tournament?

  • Standalone marks are pillars of their respective elements
this is saying off-element mark cards are considered cards of that element and may be used only if that element is called?

  • Identical deck marks may be used every game, even if the element has not been called or it has been called in a past match.
this is saying I can hypothetically use fire as my mark for every match even if I am not using fire cards, correct?

So, I think it would be easier to see the rules on a round by round basis. Here is my interpretation:

Rounds 1 and 2:
-able to call any number of elements
-must use all elements called in bo5
-cannot use the same element twice in a bo5

Rounds 3 and 4:
-able to call a maximum of 4 elements (implies at least 1 mono in a bo5)
-must use all elements called in bo5
-cannot use same element twice in a bo5

Round 5:
-able to call any number of elements
-do not need to use all elements called
-cannot use the same element twice

So first two rounds, you should just "call" all elements, on the 3rd and 4th battle, you should just call 4 elements, and on 5th battle is the only one you actually have to guarantee which elements you're using (in some order)?

I'm confused and this doesn't affect me at all :3

Simulation with master of Aether

Round 1:

Call some elements (e.g.  :air :darkness :death)
You may use :air, :darkness and :death cards. 9 of each, but they have to be less than 50% of your deck, as the other 50% has to be aether.
You run Pestal.

Round 2:

See before. You just call different elements (:fire, :entropy)
You run Fractix.

Round 3/4:

You may not call more than 4 elements.

Round 5:

You may not call elements you are not going to use.

A new Bo5 means fresh start.

a) Doesn't 66% have to be aether?
b) Why wouldn't I just call all elements in round 1/2 so that I have more options? Round 5 is the only round I wouldn't want to call the maximum number of elements allowed right?

  • Masters will not be able to call any element twice.

My understanding is that once called, the element cannot be called again, whether it was used or not. This means if you call all 12 in round 1, you're using a Mono for rounds 2-5. This is merely how I interpreted it though and when it comes to RR, I'm usually wrong.
