Compared to Quint it's costly overall to play. But once you get it out there, it's a better deal in the long run.

Popular in most time decks, with mark of aether. Unpopular when splashed due to it's high cost.

Suffers greatly from the fact that time and aether have no buffs, offensive creature abilities (aside from scarabs which aren't great without being able to target them for PU) or growth creatures. There's really nothing worth making immortal between these two elements until you add a third element. Not to mention that multiples of this card end up as a waste of quanta/draws once you have one in play and the chance of drawing a single one at the right moment is slim. Also kills to have it in your opening hand.

Well, Anubis can make flying Eternity and Devonian/Silurian Dragons immortal, so that's something to say about the Time element.

I suppose there are those, but the amount of time quanta used in getting those cards in play is heavy. I've never been able to afford to play them before very late in the game if I had to play an Anubis first. Makes for a deck that's so slow to start it doesn't have much of a chance.

I agree, a card for decks with 3 or more elements. Great in a rainbow deck for lategame, it can protect everything usefull your druids come up with. Remember, to use scarabs you need time and gravity (if they wanna eat something), so combining those with anubis (which needs aether) brings you up to three elements as well.

(If you wanna check out my scarab/anubis/TU deck in action, click here. (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,2105.0.html))

If you want to see this employed in a trio-deck, check SG's flames of eternity deck. Works really well for pvp too.

This is odd. :( I can't seem to see the actual picture of the Anubis guy (is the file corrupted?).

On a side note, I prefer using Quints over this guy in a rainbow deck, simply because SG's rainbow card strategy is much more thorough (having to spend  :time quanta on Sundials & Hourglasses to get cards, rather than trying to immortalize everything at once).

I'd say an Anubis would be much better if upgrading him would make him immortal the turn he is played, rather than lowering the ability cost, because without quint he is just too vulnerable. You either have to play a number of anubises (to play multiple at once if opponent can eg. lobotomize, or gravity pull), or play a quinted FFQ/pharaoh to drain creature control spells before playing an anubis... first is not an option in other decks than time/aether, second requires you to play quint anyway...

And anyway you don't really have to immortalize more than a few creatures (oty, ffq), so anubises ability is not really overpowered... so I guess making him immortal the turn he is played (and increasing the cost to 10 :time) when he is upgraded would make him approximately as good as quint is. (quint - 3 quantum to immortalize one creature, anubis - 10+2x to immortalize x creatures) it seems balanced to me. There would be some cases when Anubis would be better than quint, but quint would still be enough in most cases and would still be better in rainbows due to low cost.
May the force of the D4HK side be with U ^_^
