I would simply love full access. However I would also like the team dynamic of it. What happens if there is an argument? We should use 3 sided dice since the only way the chosen player is a draw is if its a 3 way tie?

Doubt this would happen, but whoever played their match first would end up being the one to use shards. The other players, obviously would be forced not to.

First of all, no.

Also, wouldn't that mean those players would have to be pre-determined every round, the choice would then have to be sent to the organiser and that would result in a draw that's not random any more as one match would already be taken and only the other two matches would be determined through random draw?

Or would this player be determined at the beginning and the one using Shards would be Player 1 from Team X throughout the event, that way creating a special position? The result would be the same.

No matter how, I'd prefer all team members to be on the same level, with the possibility to vs any member of the opposite team throughout the event.

The problem with shards is that they dominate and overshadow all remaining cards. The process of deckbuilding becomes deciding which shard set to use against which shard set, narrowing deck options and making deckbuilding too boring. Also, they are extremely hard counters. For instance, most if not all rushes will almost 100% lose against a set of sosacs, no matter what other cards the deck has. You may be terrible deckbuilder and a bad player but your sosacs will win the game for you. The air one will counter all shield decks etc etc. Shards are too broad spectrum counters, steamrolling tons of decks without much need of deckbuilding&smart playing and taking away the fun of actually having some chances.
