My deck in Gold Arena is 10-2 (age 1), rank 231 w/ 4 rating.
Another deck, rank 228, has 1 win and 0 loss, while rank 248 has 22 wins and 5 losses.

Odd.

Still have no idea how rating's calculated, but I guess it has something to do with consecutive losses. Yesterday, my Saderbow dropped from 100-something to the 250s after losing 3 games in a row. Then I rechecked it a while ago and now's it's back to rank 91. lawl

Somewhere Zanz put the base points gained and lost with wins and losses, but it is dynamic based on the decks in the Arena. I think in general Gold deck gain 6 pts for a win and lose 30 for a loss. Thus, a 10-2 deck will have a rating of ~0, a 1-0 deck will have a rating of ~6, and a 22-5 deck will have a rating of ~-18.

Yeah, it's probably something like this, but I think many good decks is waay to low and vice versa.

But the amount of rating gained and lost always changes... So it cannot be said for certain.
(Also said by Zanz somewhere I think..)

10-2 is average in Gold League. It is ranked where it should be.

A 2-0 deck should be lower ranked than a 10-2 deck (that is now 11-2).

When that 2-0 deck loses a game, they will drop really far. But that is just how rating works, if you keep with the average win percentage, you will stay ~250 if you have an above average deck, then it will be higher.

No, it shouldn't. The 10-2 deck is average, and the 2-0 deck is above average.
Once the 2-0 deck gets 10 more games, on average, it will be better than 10-2.

It reminds me of the old file copying timer in windows. Will be done is 23 days .... 2 weeks.... 48 minutes... 10-2 is on pace to be average 2-0 is on pace to be undefeated and above average

203      sahtar   0   1   0   6
204      whitevo   1   11   2   6

11-2 = 1-0
clearly :)
So 10-2 is not 2-0 anymore....

The point values for winning or losing are calculated so that a rating of 0 will be right around 250th place(thus forcing newly submitted decks to enter approximately in the middle of the top 500).  Because the point values required for this are dynamic and decks are constantly winning, losing, or being submitted, it may not be exactly in the middle but it should be very close.  Therefore a deck which wins its first few games SHOULD be above 250th.  As for something like a 10-2 record, this will depend on how strong the rest of the decks in the league are.  If the average deck in the league has a 90% win rate, 10-2 would be well below that average and thus the deck SHOULD be below 250 for example.
