Best Card for Arena https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=49391.msg1072705#msg1072705

We can all speculate on what is the best card for arena, but would anyone (or the entire community) be willing to do some stats? I would but I don't know how Just, next time you go to the arena, record what cards the #1 deck in each area is. Are there certain cards that are powerful in every league or do some leagues value some cards more than others?

What cards do you think are the best for arena?

Aether cards (pillar, pendulum, thunderbolt, dragon, few others), grabboid, and dark cards (dragon, pillar/pendulum, devourer) are best in the low level leagues.

Nova, GotP, devourers seem to be best for upper leagues.

Black Hole is "loved" from Arena Deck Builders. That+Dexterity is a kill for most Arena Farmers.

Frankly, I'm getting really annoyed at all of the SoFree decks.

This is certainly consistent with my current observations about the top ranks of the upper leagues.

Well, I have some screenshots lying around... I've uploaded them just for you. Took a pretty long time. http://imgur.com/a/GzJ6e

I have a lot typed up about what works best in Silver and Plat in detail, but posting that would only serve to make decks stale. I'll be vague and just list some cards that frequently get first even if the builds aren't optimal.

For Silver: Nova, Graboid, Forest Spirit, Lycan, BB, Lightning, Phase Dragon, Psion, Immortal, Dims, UG, Immo, Photon, Crimson Dragon, LG, GotP, RT, Nightmare, pends and pillars of most of the elements I've listed, QP.

For Plat: BH, SoFo, Discord, Damsel, Elite Wyrm, AW, Longbow, Sky Dragon, FFQ, Fire Lance, Explosion, Steal, GotP, RT, Nightmare, Nova, Physalia, Flesh Recluse, Elite Mummy, Snova, QT, Forest Spectre, Werewolf, Elite Charger, Lava Destroyer, Seraph, Minor Phoenix, Gnome Gemrider, Ruby Dragon, Cremation. To a lesser extent, other Gravity, Fire, Air, Death and Entropy cards (useless ones not included) and their towers/pends. Less useful cards are not as detrimental here as in Silver. Fractal has tons of potential, but few know how the AI works. Have seen some #1 decks with it though.

Well, I normally do a lot of silly decks in the arena, but cards I can remember having top ten decks with were:

Chrysaora
Purple nymph (twice I think)
Amber nymph
Discord
Black Hole
Earth Pendulum
Phase Dragon
Silence
Immolation
Lava Golem

I've probably done it with quantum tower or supernova as well, but those aren't very memorable, being so general purpose.  There were probably others as well, but those ones were the most memorable, either because of sheer power (ex: chrysaora, black hole, discord, immolation) or because of a silly creative deck I managed to come up with that did better than expected. (ex: earth pend, phase dragon, silence)

A lot of darkness cards would be very successful, as monodark with 12 pests beats a lot of common arena farmers.  Black Hole or discord does as well.  Anything you can base a sosa poison deck around does pretty darned good, too.  Fire decks used to be stronger before, but with the rise of sosa farmers they aren't as good anymore, though they're still decent.  A lot of people succeed with ghostmare, as well.  Monoair SoFr decks do well against most farmers, though poison dials destroys it every time.  (I've seen a few monoairs lately that splash a couple water pends and purifies just for that :p  They're mean, lol)
