Pac-Man: Outside the Walls

Hey everyone, I had to work on a portfolio for my college application where I would need to modify one of three games in any way. I chose Pac-Man. I decided it would be kind of awesome to see such a plain character be transformed into someone oozing with personality. This is what I came up with. I would love it if everyone would take a quick read through it to make some suggestions or just give some feedback. Remember, this is all for fun, so no haters!

This game has been altered to a role-playing-game. Pac-Man has discovered that the Ghosts have actually been coming to his world from a different dimension. On his arrival in this new world, Pac-Man is met by the terrorized people of Waka. He sets out on a journey to stop the Ghost Organization, choosing one of many different paths.

Will he help the Waka creatures or go straight for the Ghost leader, take him out, and rule Waka as his own?

Game environment/narrative:

Waka could easily be called a wasteland. The once fruitful trees have withered. Waka natives – Wakans - have become angered by the Ghost Organization’s treatment of them – they have taken all of the goods to keep themselves alive. The Wakans feed off a small amount of food given to them each year by the Ghosts. So, the environment is discolored and raw. The greys and dark colors of the area are lightened by Pac-Man’s yellow glow (symbolizing a hero - or so we may think).

The goal:

Either way, Pac-Man’s duty is to take out the leader of the Ghost Organization. The way he goes about doing this is entirely up to the player.

Obstacles:

Ghost troopers patrol the areas outside of the main villages- The Dark Depths - Pac-Man must go this territory when traveling to each village. The main obstacles will include the troopers, armed with different sets of abilities, and puzzles blocking his way.

Outside of the main quest, Pac-Man will have the opportunity to help out the villagers, may it be through negative or positive intentions. Each of these side quests will have their own obstacles, which may include creatures to battle, reserved to the certain side quest.

Organization:

Pac-Man has become like many other RPG characters. He has been given a leveling system involving abilities to wield new weapons and how he uses each one. Progress is defined through the percentage of main quests completed. Another percentage would correlate to the side quests and amount of Yellow Orbs collected.

Pac-Man: Now known to all of the Wakans and Ghosts as … The Runner.

Is the Dot-Eating concept completely gone?
