Sideboard - Rules
Original idea by: Essence   |   Developed by: Essence   |   Art by: Scaredgirl   |   Organized by: kobisjeruk

Using up to 6 upgraded cards, players build a deck of any size and a sideboard of 15 cards. Cards from the sideboard can be used between duels to alter your deck. This is a double-elimination tournament.

1. HOW TO SIGN UP?
Anyone with a forum and a chat account can sign up for this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully. Then sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. If you cannot find a sign up topic, or if it is locked, this event is not currently active, and you will have to wait for it to restart.

Maximum amount of participants for this event is 32. If the event is full, you can still sign up as a reserve player, and will get a chance to join the event if any of the 32 players doesn't show up during round 1.

2. GETTING READY
1. Build a deck of any size (from 30 to 60 cards), and build a sideboard of exactly 15 cards.
- You may use all cards in the game, except Voodoo Doll (http://elementswiki.co.cc/cards-darkness/voodoo-doll-voodoo-doll/) (which is currently bugged)
- You may use up to 6 upgraded cards. These upgraded cards can be in either your deck or your sideboard, or distributed between them both.
- The cards you choose to upgrade will stay upgraded during the whole event. You will not be able to change which cards are upgraded, nor can you downgrade them.

2. PM an image of both your deck and sideboard to Event Organizer (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=4440).
- Use built-in forum deck image builder
- If you don't know how to do this, post on this topic and ask for help
- It's a good idea to check the "Save a copy in my outbox" box when posting the PM so that you don't forget what deck you are supposed to use
- if you do not PM your deck and sideboard in time, you will be removed from the event

3. BRACKETS
This event is a double-elimination tournament and uses two kinds of brackets: winners brackets and losers brackets. Everyone starts out in the winners brackets. When you lose the first time, you will drop down to the losers bracket. When you lose the second time, you will be eliminated from the event. The final match will be between the winner of winners brackets, and the winner of losers brackets.

In short, if you lose two times, you are out. If you don't lose two times, you win.

4. DUELS
Players have 4 days to make the fight happen. They must contact their opponent using a PM, and try to find a time that suits both. If the fight doesn't happen, both players lose by default, unless one player is clearly more active in trying to find a suitable time. Event organizer will determine who the most active player was, and his or her word is final.

Matches are best-of-five. The first player who wins 3 individual duels, wins the match.

You are allowed to change your deck (and mark) by swapping cards between your deck and sideboard on a 1-for-1 basis at any time but you only have 3 minutes to do so. If it takes you longer than 3 minutes, it is considered a forfeit and the other player goes to next round.

It's a good idea to either record the matches, or take screenshots as proof, in case something weird, like a desync error, happens. Remember, a player who gets caught cheating, will be permanently banned from all Elements community PvP events, so please play fair.

5. AFTER DUELS
Winner should post a new topic in the "Battle Results" section, along with short description of how the match went. Both the winner and the loser are required to post pictures of both their decks and their sideboards. After round 1, all decks and sideboards from all players are 100% visible to everyone. This means that starting from round 2, you will know what cards your opponent has available, and you should plan your strategy accordingly.

Remember, decks and sideboards may be arranged however you please at any time, as long as your sideboard always contains the required 15 cards. If you start the event with 34 cards and a sideboard of 15 cards, your deck must always have that same 34 cards.

6. WINNER
Winner of the double-elimination tournament is the winner of the event.

7. REWARDS
The winner of the event will receive the following forum award icon:

The first version of this event was developed and run by Essence. He is temporarily unavailable which is why someone else will soon start this event.

I made some small changes to original rules, like merging unupped and upped brackets into one "max 6 upped cards" brackets. I also did some other small changes.

If you have suggestion and feedback on these rules, please post them here: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,16212.0.html

If you have questions about the rules, please post them on this topic.

Thank you.

Quick Questions:
Are there any bannings? Shard of Gratitude? Voodoo Doll?
Is it allowed to change upgrades between sideboarding? (For example to use 6 Damselflies in the first game, then bring in 6 Gnome Gemfinders and use unupped Dragonflies)

No banned cards in this event but intentionally abusing a glitch is a whole other issue.

Well... since Dolls obviously are buggy, you might as well ban them. I dont know what "intentionally abusing a glitch" would mean here... If player knows Dolls are buggy and use them to his advantage, its abusing a glitch, and if the player doesnt know Dolls are buggy and use them to his advantage its okay?

i feel the card pool is diverse enough (due to no restriction apart from 6 upgraded clause) that doll.dec will not be a cause for concern
i mean sure you can go a hundred different ways with voodoo dolls but the major one is the reactionary type which depends on your opponent and since this is a sideboard event after all, if you knew your opponent is playing with creatures that needs buffing or depended on your own damage output, surely you can figure out a way to negate/counter which in turn will detract people from playing with dolls

I agree with Malduk.

The reason why there are currently no banned cards in the rules is not that I specifically wanted not to ban any cards. The reason is simply that I didn't even think about it at the time.

Voodoo Doll's are clearly bugged, and I see no reason not to ban them. Even if the probability of problems is small, it does exists and should be dealt now when there is a good chance for it. Event hasn't even started yet, and the rule applies to everyone, so there is no harm done by removing the card.

I will edit the rules now.

I know me asking might be an offense of some sort... but I am curious.  How are they bugged?  I like to know these things so in case I am unknowingly cheating I can stop doing it.  But silence works too, just a question to stave my curiousness.
