Dang, one from a perfect round. Makes sense though; faster Gravy is faster offence. Plus the Zap and even potential clutch win with Chimera.

Imagine a first game where Gravy Fractals Chargers due to Dim fear and runs into tons of Lightnings from Aether though. One lost game from surprise factor could be aaaall the difference, and often is. *looks at Devtal in Team PvP*

Actually, I'd say our deck was favored here. Early offense mattered very little, the first person to fractal would win. Gravity's deck relied on pends which often turned up short of the mark. If I'd drawn a fractal in top 12/14 cards in games 1 and 3, this would be ours. Or if I'd drawn a fifth pend in game 5 vs gravy's perfect start.

If they had less than 8 pends I might agree, but only 3 Fractals is a big gamble and the 5-pend draw is the dream with full pend Fractal decks but oh so rare. Their average draw is just more consistent, and your examples only prove it.

Well, if you crunch the numbers the perfectly average draw nets 10.133 aether for us on turn 4 (which is more than enough with upped fractals) and 10.2 aether for them on turn 4 (which is a bit low to avoid standard deviation). You'd be surprised how often 16 pends get the job done. But even though our average draw beat theirs, our deck was a bit more likely to suffer from bad draws. That ended up leading to this.

Let's put it this way. In 4/5 games, I had a Fractal in my opening hand. Game 5 was the only game where I didn't get an opening Fractal, but instead topdecked it a turn before I could actually use it. I think there was two where I didn't see a Fractal from you?

TL;DR: Deck with less chance of a bad draw generally wins the matchup, if the matchup is mirror.
