Title: Almost unupped 4 turn kill on AI 3!
Post by: LongDono on January 06, 2011, 01:06:50 am
Well I did not think that a grabbix deck with 5 upped cards could pull this off but I stand corrected. ( here is the grabbix deck http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,16828.0.html )
Note: This is prolly not possible with a fully unupped deck.

(http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae299/JakeLongTAD/4turnkillpart2.jpg)Now if anyone doubts what I say I am sure you can figure things out if you look close enough.
Odds are I am prolly playing a 30 card deck and I am.
Go look the the elders deck that I am playing and count the cards played, ect.... and you will know what turn it is.  ;)

Anyways I almost hit space bar and then figured out that it was only turn 4 and I was like, WOW! Took a screen shot and decided to share.
Will post deck soon. I have to log back on to elements and get the deck code.
Ok here is the deck.

With this exact deck unupped, I suspect that it is not possible.  However, by changing that Longsword to a Hammer, going second and assuming your opponent does not hinder you in the slightest, it is possible to inflict exactly 100 damage with this set up:

Hand:  1 Graboid, 1 Hammer, 1 Photon, 1 Phoenix, 1 Immolation, 1 Lycanthrope, 2 Nova.

Turn 1:  Play Photon, Immolate it.  Play 2 Nova.  Play Phoenix, Graboid, Hammer, and Lycan (Hammer absorbs 2 :air).  12 damage inflicted, 88HP Remaining.

Turn 2:  Draw Forest Spirit.  Play Forest Spirit.  Evolve Graboid, activate Lycan's ability.  26 Damage inflicted, 62HP remaining.

Turn 3:  Draw Photon.  Play Photon.  Grow Forest Spirit.  29 Damage inflicted, 33 HP remaining.

Turn 4:  Draw Graboid (:earth Mark comes in handy here).  Play Graboid.  Grow Forest Spirit.  33 Damage inflicted, 0HP remaining.
Despite that setup, I have yet to encounter an unupped deck during testing that can pull off a 4 turn win, so your deck may as well be the closest way to do it with realistic consistency :)

Ok so it is possible for an unupped deck but it would be so insanely rare it's not even funny, but even with the deck I posted a 4 turn kill is still insanely rare. I should prolly make the Long Sword into a gavel but I don't feel like upping it, though that should make it more possible to pull it off.
After upping the Graboids and the weapon I think there is nothing left that can add speed to the deck if you upgrade it. So with 4-5 upgrades you can have one of the best AI 3 grinders around. ( Note: It is worth upping the immolations because you wont need a nova or another immolation to revive a Pheonix, and you can tech 1 deflag if they are all upped. )
Honestly I take almost no credit for this deck, I could not have made it without seeing the Grabbix deck unupped. Only thing I can take credit for is finding that it is possible to do a 4 turn kill with it. :)) Though I am sure if anyone wanted to they could have tried this and figured it out. If I can repeat this within the next 100 games I will post it, though I will upgrade the last graboid just to raise the chances of me pulling it off again and I think I will add a gavel and take out a long sword. it will cost one more quanta but if you play it last in the turn and don't mindlessly play novas and immolations then it should not be a big issue.

Well time to eat my words, it is not insanely rare. I played I think less than 50 games and 1 game I played I should have gotten the 4 turn kill but they played a heal, but fear not, 2 games later I pulled it off with only 1 more upped card ( elite graboid ) and changed the long sword into a gavel.
Screen shots..... Ps I think I went second.

(http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae299/JakeLongTAD/4turnkilagain2.jpg)The deck is the same as in the first post but only 2 changes.
1. Graboid is not elite graboid
2. Long sword is now Gavel.

had 3 immo lates in hand or it would have been faster =/ at end of game

just now a turn 5  - 53 sec game dont think i can get much faster unless i draw one extra imo
