TOURNAMENTS Q&A

Q: Can you give an example of a legal deck?
A: Sure.
Spoiler for Hidden:
1-2-3-4-5
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rh 5rh 5rh 5rh 5rj 5rj 5rl 5rn 5rn 5rn 5rn 5rn 5ro 5ro 5ro 8pu

It has 1 Hourglass, 2 Procrastination, 3 Eternity, 4 Deja Vu and 5 Anubis.

Q: Let's say I have 1,2,3,4,5 steps filled with non-quanta cards. This means I cannot have 6 pendulums/pillars/nova?
A: In this case, you can fill the 6th step with Nova, but not with Pillars or Pendulums. You can have any number of Pillars, Pendulums and Mark cards (=quanta cards).
Furthermore, quanta cards (=Pillars, Pendulums and Mark cards) cannot fit into pyramid steps. Nova is not a quanta card in this context.

Q: The only way to split them is 7/8? Furthermore: if I have 1,2,3,4,5,6 steps filled I cannot have 7 pillars/pends?
A: You can have any number of Pillars, Pendulums and Mark cards, even 7, as long as your deck size is 30.

Q: What about marks?
A: You can have any number of Mark cards.

Q: If you wanted to play with only three quanta cards, could you go 1,2,3,4,5,6,6 or must every deck contain at least 9 quanta cards?
A: Decks can only have six or less non-quanta cards with different names, so 1-2-3-4-5-6-6 is not a possible pyramid. Because of this, decks will naturally have 9 or more quanta cards.

Q: Is Immolation a "quanta card" now, or is it treated like Nova in this tourney?
A: Only Pillars, Pendulums and Mark cards are treated as quanta cards.

From what I read, you can have 6 nova, as that isn't considered a quanta card, quanta referring to pillars/pens/marks. Those cards are exempt from the pyramid rule. You can have any combo pillars and pens that you'd like.

What about marks? They're restricted to the 6x rule, but function similar to pillars

"Decks can have any number of pillars/pendulums/mark cards (=quanta cards)."

Marks are not subject to the 1,2,3,4,5,6 rule, so you can have 4 dragons, 4 marks if you wanted.

What asdw said is correct. Pillars, Pendulums and Mark cards (=Quanta cards) do not count towards pyramid steps. Therefore, you can have any number of them as long as your deck size is 30.
Nova and Soul Catcher are not considered Quanta cards in this context, so they must represent one step of the pyramid (if included).

@dawn: See the underlined part above.

The questions and answers are now added to the first post.

Only Pillars, Pendulums and Mark cards are treated as quanta cards.

We introduced this term, because it is shorter than typing out "Pillars, Pendulums and Mark cards" every time. A similar term we recently introduced was costly instead of nonzerocost.
