What a tournament! Really exciting games! However, I think a huge chunk of cheddar was left unbanned: Trident.

2-1 against Submachine

0-1 Air rush
Spoiler for Hidden:
What I like about double elimination that I have more possibilities, I can choose my decks easier. Still not easy, but easier. So for first I choose a rush deck. Suffered, because of Trident. He got it in the 2nd turn!

1-1 SoSeBow
Spoiler for Hidden:
Gotta love SoSe. 1st SoSe gave me a Discord - which just wasn't enough, so I swapped it for a Trident. Meanwhile Submachine draw his 'usual' Trident, but my creatures kept him occupied - they got BBd. Another SoSe gave me 3 shields, and an extra life as well. First, a Gravity Shield denied the efforts of his dragons (leaving only the toadies to dmg me), and after that a Dissipation Shield totally locked all of them up. The next SoSe gave me 3 creatures (bone dragon, mmm!), at that was the end.

2-1 Pesky Little Dolls
Spoiler for Hidden:
Such a thriller! Submachine quickly figured out that I'm holding back the doll combo, so he kept his dmg low. After deploying the doll+pull+bb and aflatoxining his creature he just ate that with an otyugh, plus killed off his overdriven otyugh. I was 1 turn late with BBing the angel, but that didn't really matter. I drew my catapult, so after a bit calculation (and waiting) PUd the doll twice, and hurled one of them. What an awesome game!

2-0 against kaempfer13

1-0 Shard Golems
Spoiler for Hidden:
I think I surprised him with this choice. He played some sort of CC-heavy entropy deck, but luckily the pandas didn't reverse my golem, just hurt him to 1 hp.

2-0 Cheese on a Trident
Spoiler for Hidden:
He played adrenastaves (with green nymphs), but Ice Shield cooled the staves, and Trident denied the precious quanta.

1-2 against Vindilos

0-1 Full CC Entropy
Spoiler for Hidden:
Half of the CC cards left in the other half of the deck, of course... :-( When he saw my Dis. Shield, knew what to play. However the first deflag wasn't enough, I had another DS, but he waited until had enough quanta/creatures, another deflag, 2 dragons+nymph and bye-bye.

1-1 Cheese on a Trident. Same deck again. It wasn't easy since Vindi played Maxwell's/Dragons, so I thanked to my Ice Shield, for freezing them randomly. Now, I played the "deploy a lot of creatures at once"-trick. :)
Spoiler for Hidden:

1-2 Pesky Little Dolls vol 2.
Spoiler for Hidden:
1 damned earth quanta! 1 damned earth quanta! That's what I got from 4 q pillars in 7-8 turns! So I could play only a BB-less doll (only with GP), so I lost against the crimson dragons. So annoying. Only slight  changes in the deck, which didn't matter.

0-2 against Submachine

0-1 Shard Golems
Spoiler for Hidden:
Worked only once today. He played again cheesy tridents, plus my only golem got BBed after 3 turns. I was able to play out a SoSe but got only crappy cards.

0-2 Unstable Gas - stupid edition
Spoiler for Hidden:
I was really not sure what to play. Will he play cheese AGAIN? Should I play entropy, psions or flying morning stars? So I chose Unstable Gas. Stupid me didn't include deflags, so the game was over after 2 turns. Yes, he draw a Trident in the 2nd turn, again! Bye-bye exciting tourney.

On a bottom line I must mention again that Mark cards should be banned for most of the tourneys. Especially tourneys like this, when the usage of Trident is so important.
Players with mark cards always have a great advantage. You may argue that they have worked hard for their precious marks, and that is true. But why punishing those who arrived
later to this great game? Mark cards are freely usable in league, 12 lives and so on. I think tourneys should play the role of proving grounds. And I know, you may again say that
playing a game for such an extended period should have it perks, but believe me, you still get it in other PVP events. You must have Vindi-like talents to get marks so quickly to
compete with the veterans... And now even Vindi counts as such a veteran he just landslided this years tourneys.

And I would keep my opinion even if I had more marks (not just one Entropy Mark).

I built 16 decks total, but I felt like only 3 of them had real chances against the control-fest I expected. Here are a few of them worth mentioning:

Torrente
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink

595 595 595 595 5i4 5i4 5i4 5i4 5i4 5i4 5i4 5i4 5i9 5ic 5ic 5ic 5id 5id 5id 5ie 5ie 5ie 5ie 5ie 5ie 5jm 5jm 5jm 5jm 5jm 8pm

Entered all games with Torrente. A second-turn Trident was common with this build. PC and CC combined in a rush is nothing to laugh at. Used this deck every time except twice, only lost to an amazing SoSe drop (Discord and Steal) and a CC-PC control deck with Mark cards instead of pillars (untouchable by Trident).

I needed an answer to frequent CC, so I wanted a deck with bulky and hard-to-kill creatures. Only used twice, didn't win any games, but could have won both with just 1 'Momentum'. The versatility of this deck is great, but the one obvious thing it lacks is PC, which was my downfall in the end. Lost to Voodoo Trap and Thorn Carapace (both that could have been avoided with Momentum).

Spoiler for Summary Of An Exciting Game!:
The biggest strategy I could deploy was in Game 3, with Lightyear Duo against Wyand. Regular 30-card deck, but with an Aether mark? I was unsure what to expect. Then Wyand played Quantum Pillars on his first turn. A rainbow with Aether mark. Can only mean 2 sensible decks, both rely heavily on PU. Because of this, I used Acceleration on an Otyugh instead of an Armagio, because if it's a Voodoo deck, it's easier to kill the damage on my side, and if he uses PU on it, it's easier to counter-swallow than an Armagio. I left an Angel to keep healing that Otyugh and I kept my damage to the minimum other than that to avoid a potential Voodoo trap. When he still didn't play anything other than Quantum Pillars on Turn 7-ish, it was clear that it's Voodoo Trap. I avoided using Blessings from the start, didn't accelerate anything else, and only kept 1 Angel on the field at the time. My total damage output was the accelerating Otyugh + 1 damage from the Angel. When he summoned his Voodoo, I quickly ate the accelerating Otyugh with another Otyugh. When he played Aflatoxin on my other Otyugh, I used Acceleration on the Malignant Cell to get rid of it. My predictions were all correct, and I kept my damage to the absolute minimum (hoping for a deckout win), but I had 2 damage on the field, and that was more than enough to slowly chip his doll until he had only 3 cards left in his deck. But still, that was a very strategic match.

The rest of the decks, I never used:

My only deck with both CC and PC, but to get the CC started, you have to use a BB on your own Otyughs, BB on opposing damage and soak hits with Armagios, and only start accelerating after you assumed total control on the field, with an Amagio defending you.

I figured that most AI3 decks were legal in this tourney, so I looked them up and played around with a few. This was probably the best of them, with a little bit of everything.

Another AI3 deck that does something that none of my other decks: Control with Healing. It's surprisingly effective against most rushes and control decks, but I do not like messing around with expensive creatures in live games.

And this gem, just for the lulz. A unique counter against specific decks, but it's heavily reliant on combos, and the finishing card (Holy Light) tends to hide in the bottom of the deck. Drawing a Hope, a Doll or Shards late usually means defeat.

Then I also had other stuff, like mono rushes (Life, Water, Time, Death), more AI3 decks (mutation, FFQ-hope), and a few duos (Dunes, Rustler Rush, Death-Dark Duo).
And we keep driving into the night
It's a late goodbye, such a late goodbye...

I built 16 decks total, but I felt like only 3 of them had real chances against the control-fest I expected. Here are a few of them worth mentioning:

I thought I was the only maniac to build more than a dozen decks. :D Around 24-25, but most of them were pretty unreliable.

It was a Deflag (in my deck) and playing a Trident (in my deck, too). But still, there were some really lucky soses, giving me important shields and creatures. :)
