Weekly Tournament - February 7th - Speedbuilding: I AM POTATO - UnupgradedTournament Organizers: Zawadx or Dm1321

Where? Please enter the Tournament room at least 15 minutes before the tournament starts. Click "Rooms" in the top left to find it.

Rules Please read the PvP Tournament rules carefully before joining the tournament. Remember to also read the Special Rules listed below!

Prizes 1st place 5,000 electrum + Nymph/Mark + Trophy (Forum Icon) 2nd place 3,000 electrum 3rd place 2,000 electrum In case of 32 or more players, tournament prizes will be increased.

Points for the World Championship 1st place 4 points 2nd place 2 points 3rd place 1 point

NOTE: You need just one presentable forum post to be allowed to join tournaments; you can post it here. If this will be your first tournament, a Tournament Organizer will test your knowledge about the rules. So please be present in tournament room 30 minutes before the tournament starts.




Special Rules

• Always read the second post! It contains equally important information most of the time.
• Upgraded cards and shards are not allowed.
• Before every round, the Tournament Organizer will use the Poke AveragePotato feature of chat. He will then post AveragePotato's comment (e.g. "Be careful." "Yes! Finally!" "Dm1321 read it already." "Higurashi didn't approve it, though.") publicly, and the cards allowed for that round must have their first letter be one of the letters in the comment.
• Pillars, pendulums and mark cards can be used regardless of the comment used.
• For this tournament, all matches for a round will start at the same time. Rounds will last for a maximum of 1 hour, and this rule will be enforced.

If you think there is an overpowered card that should be banned, or you have some concerns about the tournament metagame, mechanics or other stuff, do NOT post it publicly in the comments or anywhere else on the Forums. Q: Can you explain better how the tourney works?
A: Sure. Let's say I click Poke AveragePotato and get the comment 'I AM POTATO'. Then cards starting with the letters A, I, M, O, P and T will be allowed for that round. Pretty list:

Hi,
I was looking forward to my first pvp tournament but those special rules each week, particularly this one, makes it quite hard for the newbie. I don't know every card name! Will you be giving the list of allowed card each turn? Also, many cards have 2 or 3 words name, so for example,  would "forest spirit" be allowed only on a "f" or also on a "s"? If there is no "p" in the quote, we cannot have any pillars or pendulums?
I can see the fun of those special challenges for veteran players but something simpler would be appreciated for the newbies.

Hey there! We will provide a list of the cards each round to prevent confusion. The first letter of the name counts, so forest spirit would be F, not for S. And pillars and pends can be used regardless of the comment used.

Do try to make it to the tournament. Speedbuilding requires little work and is a lot of fun!

Indeed it does. It's actually a significant part of the TO procedure, and the one which imo requires most work while hosting.

I think speedbuilding on every single round is going to take a lot of extra time. If the card list is released only after a round is over (which is the most fair imo), that will be even more delays.

This has the potential for taking ~4 hours depending on the number of participants.

I'ma try to attend, although speed building sounds a little daunting for a first tournament, especially since I forgot half the cards names, and half the ones I only remember the upgraded names.
