PvP Parasite Warning System https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=25593.msg326333#msg326333

PvP Parasites
PvP Parasites is a new warning system that we will now start to use.  The goal is to help all community PvP functions run more smoothly by limiting disruptive factors such as players quitting on a whim, or refusing to follow the instructions of the organizers.

If you have a PvP Parasite, you cannot join any Elements community PvP function until they are gone.  If you are already participating in a function you will be allowed to complete it, but you may not join any future functions until the Parasites are removed.

Getting Parasites
PvP Parasites are basically warnings that are given when you disrupt a PvP function in some way.  These disruptions can range from starting a huge argument over some ruling, to having to quit a function because of real life issues.  Please note that PvP Parasites are given even if you have a "good reason".  This is because we cannot confirm that your reason is true, and even if we could, why you disrupted the function does not change the fact that you did disrupt it.

Players will be given 1 to 3 Parasites depending on the severity of the infraction.

Minor Infraction:
A minor infraction will be given to a player who exhibits actions which are disruptive but not to a large extent.  Some actions that can result in a 1 Parasite penalty are continuous complaining or arguing about the rules or a ruling, refusal to take instructions from the organizer, or general bad behavior that lessen the enjoyment of the function for others.

Moderate Infraction:
A moderate infraction will be given to a player who exhibits actions that cause a significant disruption.  Some actions that can result in a 2 Parasite penalty are quitting for any reason without drama, becoming inactive for an extended period of time, or general bad behavior that has a disruptive effect towards other players.

Major Infraction:
A major infraction will be given to a player who exhibits actions that cause a severe disruption.  Some actions that can result in a 3 Parasite penalty are "rage quitting", quitting while causing drama, or general bad behavior that has a severe disruptive effect towards other players.

You may receive PvP Parasites from multiple sources simultaneously, such as quitting several functions at once.  These penalties will stack but a player may never accumulate more than 3 PvP Parasites at any time.  This means the longest ban a player can receive is 3 months, or 90 days.

Tournament Organizers will now also be able to issue a 1 week ban that will apply to Tournaments only at their discretion.

Removing Parasites
PvP Parasites disappear over time. Each PvP Parasite lasts for 1 month.  This means that if you get one Parasite today, in 30 days that Parasite will be gone.  If you get two Parasites, you must wait for 2 months until you can join a PvP event.  You cannot have more than 1 PvP Parasite removed every 30 days.

PvP Functions
The following is a list of community PvP functions.  A PvP Parasite will ban a player from participating in any of these functions until it is removed.  Players may also be given PvP Parasites during any of these functions.  PvP Parasites may also apply to any function not listed here, at the discretion of the organizer(s).
  • PvP Events
  • PvP Leagues (Beginner's League and Champion's League)
  • Weekly Tournaments
  • War
  • Trials

PvP Parasite List
A public PvP Parasite list will be posted using the following format:
USERPARASITES
Player A
Player B
Player C
This list will be public to allow users who have been given a PvP Parasite to see when it will be removed.  Making the list public will also hopefully help deter disruptive player from players.

Please understand that getting a PvP Parasite is not a big deal. The Parasites will disappear after time, and nobody will even remember that they existed after that. The purpose is not to brand players as troublemakers, the idea is to help make all our community PvP functions run more smoothly for everyone.
Carpe Diem!!

um... hopefully this won't get me a parasite
but PvP nazi?
idk about you, but I think this will lessen the enjoyment of plenty...
a month?
say for example your computer crashes during a tournament, your internet failed, or whatever
and you get a parasite for that, a month?
I suggest a week per parasite...

It seems...slightly harsh I guess, but chances are is that it'll eventually fade into PvP and no one will worry about it anymore. I guess this means I really have to be careful with how my connection is though.  :-X

What happens if you get a parasite during an event? Do you have to quit it, or are you allowed to keep going till it ends?
You're just as selfish as I am. You're just not as good at it yet.

Forgot to add the Tournament part.  It's included now.

Parasites will be almost exclusively given out only for Events, War, and Trials.  Tournaments will now be giving out 1 week bans instead of Parasites, and Leagues already have a ban system in place.  To earn a Parasite for Tournament or League activities would require an extreme circumstance.
Carpe Diem!!

Couple questions:
-What is the punishment for repeated infractions? (i.e. get a 1 parasite infraction. Wait a month. Rinse and repeat.)
-Is there any way to "peacefully" retire from an event if you cannot avoid doing so? Say, by contacting the organizer and having a replacement set up?
-Will this be applied to infractions made before this system was set in place, or only for infractions made this point forward?

I assume this was invented primarily bc of the huge amount of quits in the current War

On another note: I am using a mobile internet connection, which is stable at most times, but can be very slow and unstable occasionally. So my question? What if my net becomes crappish, and I have to quit a tourney, but I can alert the TO and the event can run along smoothly (as in no distruption or unnecessary waiting)? Do I still get a parasite or 1 week ban?

* For now there is no "repeat offender" status set up and no plans to create one.  It can be addressed better if it becomes a problem at that time.
* Yes, but that is at the discretion of the organizer.  Players who can arrange for their own replacements ahead of time and in a way that does not delay or disrupt things are not really the group this system is meant to target.  Keep in mind only official staff will be able to give out a Parasite so if a volunteer organizer wants to issue one to a player, it will not be official unless a PvPO confirms it and we are not trying to be draconian about this.
* Currently there is no plans to "grandfather" previous infractions into the system.

I assume this was invented primarily bc of the huge amount of quits in the current War

On another note: I am using a mobile internet connection, which is stable at most times, but can be very slow and unstable occasionally. So my question? * Actually War wasn't really the impetus.  Most players who quit War generally also quit the community as well so penalizing them really won't have much of an effect.  This was necessary because of the alarming amount of players who have been joining events and either going inactive or quitting, but remaining active in other PvP functions like Tournaments and Leagues.  It was determined that a system that encompasses all the PvP functions of the community was necessary to discourage players from simply quitting.
* That is up to discretion of the TO present whether you would be given a 1 week ban, although I can assure you that a Parasite would not be given out for that.
Carpe Diem!!
