The parasite system was crippled during Elements Chess and killed by War #4.  Until the system is re-evaluated and something can be created that will not include exceptions for certain members or situations it will not be enforced.

No reason to put this system on hold.

The thing is that there has to be at least two "tiers" or whatever to these Parasites so that being inactive in a small event with 16-32 players, will not ban you from the ultimate PvP event, War. Anything can happen, so even though a player is usually very active, he or she might have to skip one small event. Is that enough to be banned from War that happens only a couple of times a year? No. If we did it like that, it would be an unfair and vindictive system that is not really the goal here.

Now if that person quits War (or disrupts it), then it makes sense to ban that person from the next War. That way the punishment fits the crime.

Easy way to do this would be to keep a separate (private) list of people who are banned from War and Trials and just ignore Parasites when people are joining Trials or War.

I personally find leaving Trials pretty disruptive for the Trials event though. (and also think Trials are very important aswell)

People who left Trials once shouldn't be allowed in the next trials if there's more then sufficient participants, they shouldn't take someone elses place.

Yes it is enough.  Be responsible for yourself and if you say you're gonna compete in an event then do it.  Encouraging players to be allowed to quit "lesser" events just dooms the "lesser" events to failure, and really screws the other players and organizers who put time and effort into those events.  Having two tiers of penalties is just making things more complicated, you'd be saying you're allowed to quit on on all the small events but you can still join war.  If anything needs to be changed (I don't think it does but) you could drop the penalty for quitting an event to 1 parasite instead of 2.

And so what if some people miss a War?  It's not like there is any shortage of applicants to get on a War team.

Totally agree with Jappert, quitting Trials is a major disruption too.

RL happens, so it might be a good idea to institute a warning system, but I totally agree with Plastique here.

Maybe turn the Parasite system into a Devourer/Parasite system: you issue Devourers for minor disruptions and Parasites for major disruptions. Parasites exclude you from everything - from tournaments to War - while Devourers don't exclude you from anything. However, when you have (say) 3 Devourers, you are issued Parasites every time you would be issued a Devourer, and while Parasites last one month, Devourers last 3.

Unless American dates confuse me even more than I think they do, then these need updating.
