War #10 - Propaganda

The method for deciding the "best" propaganda is yet to be determined - it'll likely be judged by the Warmasters, rather than going to a community vote, due to the nature of the event.

i just broke the three way tie.

propaganda is something that generals should do to make forum members and especially new people to come to like their elements and want to join their team. It's something that needs to be done imo but not as a competition. On the other hand, generals who won't spend any time creating a thread about their respective elements would seem a bit unmotivated to me. Thus option #2.

I agree with dark ripper. Generals should try to get members into the event and interested in the General's team by showing some motivation. Just posting a copy/pasted picture or no propaganda at all is poor. If everyone just does a little involvement, with #2 all teams starts with the same bonus, and a few more Relics can't hurt anyway. Not making this a competition as #1 is due to the lack of given criteria of how to note certain entries, which would lead to a lot of unnicely heated up discussions.

To show that I am not just talking, this is what I thought was worthy propaganda last year. Something I was very impressed by was Physsion's Darkness propaganda. There are lots of other good examples the years before, but as it seems, the motivation declined as Wars went on... which is sad.

I personally don't really like propaganda, as someone who doesn't like talking much and has no photoshop skills. I believe if someone likes a certain element and/or a certain general, they will stick with it and won't be swayed by some pictures and some fancy words.

Ginyu makes good points, though I still voted for option 1-- option 2 incentivizes only the bare minimum. The lack of criteria shouldn't be a big issue, as voting for your favorite propaganda shouldn't be complicated-- just pick the one(s) you like best! Heck, if you like all of them, vote for all of them. I don't think voting should be restricted. The reward doesn't have to be solely determined by rank either. One way to do it would be to give X relics to each team that participated, and then maybe X+1, X+2, X+3 for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the poll. Or something along those lines.

As for propaganda not being real propaganda, that's true-- it's not really meant to persuade others to join your team or root for you. Rather, it's a place to set up bragging rights and establish a team/themed spirit. Relics have had an extremely low impact in the past anyways, and the number given out for propaganda probably won't end up being significant -- just a small nudge to encourage the activity. One of my favorite teamy-spirity things was actually what Team Entropy did in War 9, with the whole avatar-ninja squad. Imo, that fits right in with what propaganda is all about.

Poll has been running for a while, but I see no consequence of the result. Over 75% voted yes in some way so it would make sense to have some form of reward for propaganda in mind. Regardless of the details, it would help if we got an official notice that some form of propaganda will be rewarded in some way: teams will need several days to make a decent propaganda and vault building starts as soon as auction ends, by which time these points should already be available, no? I'm okay with points coming halfway of the 2 weeks of vault building, but I'd still like to get official word on this asap.
