The Witness is a first-person puzzle game with great atmosphere and almost 700 puzzles and secrets. For those who love logic puzzles, this game is a must have. Especially now that it's free to grab until 18th April (https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/the-witness/home).

In The Witness, there are two main types of puzzles. The first are logic puzzles, where you have to work with what you have on the current puzzle board. You will see various symbols and colors that have different meanings, and you have to reach a solution by conforming to the rules of those symbols. (For example, in Minesweeper, the symbol "2" has the rule of only touching 2 mines. Though I mention Minesweeper now, this is not something you will see in The Witness.)

Sometimes you will meet a puzzle that has unknown symbols on it. In those cases, it's better to explore somewhere else, because each function has its tutorial located somewhere on the map. If you get stuck, just explore some more until you find an easier version (or even the tutorial) of the puzzle.

The second main type of puzzles are observational puzzles. For these, you will most likely see empty boards with over 500 possible solutions (with only 1 of them being correct) due to having seemingly no restrictions. But if you step away from the puzzle board and look around your environment, you can find clues that narrow the number of possible solutions to 1. When I say clues, I don't mean that the solution will be written on a nearby tree. It will be more creative than that.

In the case of observational puzzles, it is also true that you can meet a complex puzzle that you shouldn't be able to know how to solve yet. Just keep exploring until you find a simpler version of it. Most observational puzzles also have tutorials.

+1 this game is great. Relaxing but still challenging. It's on Xbox game pass right now so you can get it for "free" on Xbox and I think PC.

Only 2 more days left while The Witness is free on PC.

I found Challenge Mode on Sunday, and it was a glorious experience. Just when I thought the game ran out of things to surprise me with, I was proven wrong.

I have this game in my computer, too. However I get dizzy easily as motion blur is non-existant, so I can't play it for long.

It's a great game, though. Some puzzles really make you become stumped, but most of the time it's dizziness that makes you quit.

I got this free on PS+ this past month. Can’t wait to play it. I’ve heard so many good things about it.
