Title: Pokemon Sun and Moon
Post by: CactusKing on December 24, 2016, 08:36:07 am
If any of you bought the new pokemon game here is a place to discuss theories, strategy, which starter is the best or just whatever about sun and moon.
Personally i chose litten but it was hard because they all suck so much :P

Really? I thought this was the best set of starters since at least Sinnoh, personally

Primarina
Raichu-A
Lurantis
Salazzle
Muk-A
Exeggutor-A

Not the most well-rounded team I've ever built, but after lots of late-game battling in Platinum and a more in-depth playthrough of Emerald in progress, I wanted to play Moon a little looser anyways, so I'm not concerned about that.

At the Totem Lurantis fight currently, going to attempt to get Muk-A with its Hidden and level my team a bit before attempting it again

I honestly felt sun and moon was one of the best games for a long time. I went through a phase were i seriously considered the competitive grind.

I finished the game with decidueye, mudsdale, oricorio-bale, alolan raticate, wishiwashi and snorlax

I managed to do enough comp grinding to get a perfect iv pikipek, a nearly perfect iv ghastly and misdreavus and had a 5 iv mimikyu.

My team when i finished the game was incinerator, gastrodon, oricorio-electric, alolan executor, charjabug (eviolite) and snorlax. I finished the game exactly one week after buying it and have now caught all the UBs and Legendaries and have seen everything in the alola pokedex.
Currently working on my comp team:
Magnezone, Aegislash, Toxapex, Xurkitree, Salamence-M, and Araquanid.
If anyone want's a beast ball beldum PM me i have a some spare :D

Update: Apparently Aegislash and Mega Salamence got banned (so i cant use them in competitive) to so i'm gonna go with whimsicott (prankster) and either cloyster, walrein or rhyperior as replacements.

oricorio-bale

oricorio-electric

What movesets did you finish the game with? I'll probably use one in Sun, but it was on both my friend's shortlist and mine and since it didn't fit what either of us wanted to do for our initial teams we both dropped it

I finished with hurricane, teeter dance, revelation dance and air cutter.
hurricane is high power when you need it, air cutter for the critical hits and quickly beating the fighting-type elite four member. Revelation dance (electric) is actually quite powerful and sweeps the flying type elite four.

I haven't played the game, though I plan on getting sun. The music is amazing and it seems like a big step up from x/y.

Although I almost always pick a water type, (exception of Torchic, Bulbasaur and >) I plan on getting Rowlet, because:

Rowlet is friggin' adorable, and I love owls.
His middle evolution looks like egoraptor for some reason
Decidueye, as an "archer bird" is so cool, and I consider myself better with a bow than I am most weapons.

I also like Charjabug's cry. (HUUduHUUdu, woik-woik).

Quality game. Good storyline/villain, great end-of-game/competitive options, and they've made it much easier to train and breed competitively.

Is anyone playing this game competitively at the moment?

Finally picked up Moon again this week - almost done with the main story.

It's a very close third to Emerald and Platinum as my favorite (ignoring Shadows of Almia) Pokemon game. Very casual, easy feel with Refresh, but that could be ignored almost completely for a more difficult run. Great plot with multiple twists and callbacks, solid character development, and engaging locations despite being on the shorter end of the series.

Also you basically get to wear swim trunks if you want.

EDIT: Tapu Koko is the worst Pokemon to ever exist

Had no idea this existed. My team was Decidueye, Arcanine, Lycanroc (Dusk), Alolan Muk, Slowbro and Magneton.

The new games have been out internationally for a week now (I got Ultra Sun), has anyone else got it?
I haven't quite finished the story yet, but I have to say that this is much more challenging than Sun/Moon (they gave the totem and legendary pokemon decent AIs for once, as well as the opponents generally being a better match to you in terms of level). The cutscenes and music are also a lot better imo. They've added a few new mons (mostly mythical/UBs), added move tutors which SUMO was lacking, and added Mantine Surfing! I highly recommend this even if you have sun or moon already.
My team right now is Toucannon, Malamar, Decidueye, Lopunny, Lycanroc-Dusk and Houndoom/Pelipper

Does anyone have experience with a working Sun-Moon or UltraSun-UltraMoon ROM and Emulator for Windows?
