Heard of it, but never got around to actually getting it. What's the code in?
Code is in C++ and Lua IIRC, but there's also a user friendly language for free user-made DLC called WML (
Wesnoth
Markup
Language).
I play this game every now and then though RL makes it hard for me to stick with the campaigns (and by extent, the game). The
UMC here is actually pretty good, as well as the art (both fanmade and devmade). The 1.10 version's WML was recently updated to handle coding RPG features, so if you're a programmer with some spare time or just someone wanting to dabble with code and/or UMC of your own I suggest taking a look at this game. For those who are just interested in TBS, I'd say it's a pretty good take on the genre with each faction having it's own defining pros and cons, with the RPG classes thrown in as a nice twist. (It's really satisfying to beat some of the longer campaigns with the elites that were originally your level 1 soldiers, IMHO.)
