The point is to balance the game. If one card is used out of one element way more than the other cards of that element, zanz has to find out why. In the case of cards like Sundial in v1.14, taking six in almost any deck was pretty much a given, because it was way too powerful to pass up. Cards like Lava Golem were even easier to play previously, and by increasing their cost, zanz has made an effort to slow the hyper-aggressive decks down and allow for more deck types in PvP. There are reasons behind every nerf. Don't believe for a second that Zanz nerfs cards based on frequency of use alone.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing something that would balance mono decks and rainbow decks a little... As much as I would hate to see quantum towers get nerfed, it would make mono decks more competitive with rainbows... After the initial pain of a quantum tower nerf, I think it would actually be a good thing...
why not have the upgraded mono toweres produce 2 of that element rather than nerfing??

Cause than Monos would suddenly be way OPd...

No. This thread was released in March showing the usage stats from February.

Anyway, this is all very nice and all, but aside from some minor tweaking on the least used cards (that I'm sure will happen) what does this mean for the game?
It means they need to find a way to nerf the False God stalling farm deck.  >.>

At least, that's what I see when I read that data.

I guess how I would balance is one the following:

- For every (two or three?) mono pillars/towers you own, you get one extra quantum of that type.

OR

- If your deck contains only the pillar matching your mark, your mark is increased by one (though this might stack too much with immolation and supernova builds)

I prefer the former option. Ideally, you would want to balance in such a way that competitive duo and trio decks are possible, without resorting to the 'rainbow lite' option.

Anyway, this seems like it might provide non-rainbows with a significant boost, but still leave the standard rainbow FG-grind deck capable of its 40% or so win rate.

(btw: yes, quantum is the singular form of quanta and I'll hear no more about it =)

I read it as Rainbow is key to being able to fight more than a small portion of the False gods.

Hope was in development for two days before this thread was created. It wasn't even in the game yet (a.k.a. this thread is super old).
