I honestly don't get that "I Want My Hat Back" joke... 
And since I don't get the original, I don't find the reference funny either.

To me it just seems like a totally dumb story and I just can't find the humor in it.

Oh, that is not supposed to be a joke. It's just a tale, which originally was just a normal tale for children. Then people made the Thor version of that, and the only joke was that it was a parody of the original.

Yeah, but don't forget about Spike, there would be no this comic without him. He actually provided me with ready script, not only rough idea. However, I changed a visual concept a little

I also have to note that Spike actually made the title "Critters....." which looks awesome too Thanks Spike.
