True, it would depend on the deck. Parasites or bloodsuckers are cheaper. Normally toadfish and squid cost too much water. In a water deck with mark of air, I would agree. I can't see how you'd get the  :darkness and  :death in it. Also the toadfish could serve as a main attacker, so you would be right to just spam toads and squids. In a rainbow deck with 3 squids and 3 parasites, adding damage dealers can be quite arduous, which is why the squid is not the preferred way to go. An oty with some HP lowering spells or plate armour is more efficient, card wise.

I'd be tempted to check if a fractaled squid + permafrost shield could maybe lock the whole deck without making a single kill.  :water  :aether duo deck?
Shards aren't overpowered, as long as you have them yourself.

Well since i use aether and can barely be touched this card has no affect on me and while playing with other decks this card can be slightly annoying but either way its just an OK card.

i think the squid/octopus has no reason to be nerfed. at all. if you have a problem with it freezing you then why not add some anti creature spells to your deck? actually, as already stated, it may need to be buffed or altered not nerfed. it is very hard to fit into a successful deck. it's health is too low and it's abiliy costs as much as putting it into play does. to me the idea of nerfing it is the silliest (and funniest) thing I've heard since i posted a request for the gravity shield to be nerfed!

really? I thought the cost was too high and they were too fragile. No one even uses these.

on the contrast, they are quite useful. I used to use 2 and they provide excellent CC. Also, I have seen some very good decks that use SoR on arctic octopus for free congeal, and can easily stop any(not immortal) creatures. 3 :water is not that expensive for a creature that can do what arctic squid does. It is fragile, but that's what quintessence is for, and it is not too expensive to slow you down(like a certain fire card known as ruby dragon).

If you think about it, This is really a Water Nymph in a Squid Suit. It's got an ability on a stick! just like the other nymphs. Now what do you say about nerfing it?
It is the greatest mystery of all...

Meh... not sure... it is costly already, but I have to agree that when it comes to be used against low creature count decks, it can be overpowered, not to mention that you may also have a shield to face.

sigh...who thought it was a good idea to post their opinion without arguments on a 36-day-old "nerf this card thread" where it was obvious that the card would not be nerfed according to the poll in the beginning of the thread?

Topic has a point, that point is weak and really to do with the freeze mechanic and not the squid.

Opinion says don't touch it
Card usage says we don't have to touch it.
No real evidence to say we should nerf it.

Topic closed.
