Join as an apprentice

Are you new? Do you have questions about the game or the forum? Do you have a hard time getting help from anyone?

If you found who you need help from, you can either send him a Private Message (PM) or post in this thread. If you don't know how to send a PM, click the name of your chosen Mentor and click "Send a personal message" on the upcoming page.

One Apprentice can ask the help of multiple Mentors on different topics, just like one Mentor can have multiple Apprentices - though Mentors can redirect excess Apprentices. Please refrain from asking the same thing from multiple Mentors.

Ok, let's make order: dark PMed me about "forum secrets", as I wrote in my applilcation. Actually it was humor, there are no secrets here. But I'd be happy to help you.

Some functionalities of the forum are borderline secret because of how badly advertised they are. (I know lots of vets that never heard of "Who's Online" or knew how to ignore a thread for example).

Yes, now you can have him.

I'm quite new. I've been playing for about 4-5 days. I've mostly been relying on Devonian Dragon rushes to farm Elder and recently adopted the Firecell OTK. I could use some guidance as I feel like I'm spinning my wheels and I'm not sure what direction to start building into.

From what I saw of the "mentors" I think RootRanger is my best bet. If they are still active.

Oh, thanks! I currently have one apprentice. I can take you if necessary, but you might be able to get more help from someone else. Are Blacksmith and Odii available?

Okay. Odii was kinda tied with Root during my judgement. >_>

What, really? When I had around 200 posts, I ignored a whole board, let alone individual threads. The language thing really isn't for me XD

First of all congratulations on the initiative!

Now, i would love some guidance on deck building (i'm really bad), farming, beating the arena and later be competitive in PvP...

At the moment i can beat some FG and win in silver. I went top 10 in silver arena but i admite it was only luck... I have some rare cards and awful english skills  :'(

So, who's still available to help this noob?

edit: my first goal is to fully understand the game and all the cards. My second goal is to be a mentor like you guys because that's just awesome :D

Almost everyone is available, because one Mentor can have multiple Apprentices. ^^ However, Mentors can redirect extra apprentices to another mentor.
Just look at the list in the first post and choose a Mentor who has "competitive pvp" and "forum" in their introduction. :) For example, ji412jo looks like a good Mentor for you.

Sure, mentors are still available. :) Nuk_Em_Down, you got SpikeSpiegel as a Mentor.

Tasteoflife1, try browsing our Mentor's introductions. We all say what we specialize in and you can probably find the best Mentor for you. :) In case you couldn't decide or your chosen Mentor is not available at the moment, we choose a Mentor for you.

I'm glad you wanna the assistance of me. You can just pm me or meet me in chat.
I will try to answer all your questions.

Btw. Spike is also a great PvP player and you wouldn't make something wrong with his assistance. Smart guy and excellent deckbuilder for PvP matches / tounreys / events.

I have questions for blacksmith

You can just pm your questions to Blacksmith or meet him in chat. It's the best way to contact somebody. I'm sure he is more often checking his pm's than this thread.

It's a good question, since most of us wrote this in our introductions, but we didn't say what it is.

The Forum BBCode is the formatting language we use. For example, you already used the BBCode when you gave a 11pt size to your text when posting.

  • This text is heavily formatted by the BBCode.

About sending PMs, you can send a Personal Message (PM) to anyone on the forum by hovering your mouse on the Inbox button on the top row and selecting Send a Message. You can choose who you want to send your message to by typing his name in the first box (note, that if you write the first 3 letters of his name, the box will give you options automatically to choose from). After you typed in the name, the box will give you a popup option which you have to click first.
Then the rest works the same as commenting on the forum, so that should be easy. :)

I would very much enjoy becoming an apprentice under ji412jo, if he would have me.

Help me become a master of deception.
A lord of the underworld.
A vampire of the night.
A lurker in the shadows, ready to pounce on the unwary.
A practitioner in the dark arts of voodoo.
Teach me to siphon the essence of life into the void of the netherworld.

I already have some tools; vampire dagger, several stilettos, stone statues of hideous creatures, coffins in the dungeon, pickpocket guide to the unwary dimensional shielded, wardrobe of capes and black cloaks, and a large bag of little dolls that I can make look like whoever I want.

I be  studious and dedicated.   ;D
I make you proud - else you can take my soul.

Hi,

I guess I require a sage, too. My aim is to build an awesome deck(sound trivial I know) from shards(too many don't wanna sell :D), beat the false gods, and become competitive in Arena platinum. My schedule is hectic , but GMT 10-18 would be the most adequate.

Greetings,

I am Ulmo and I will need a mentor. I do not have any particular preferences, anyone who is available to help would be great, but you should know about me that I am casual player and kind of a noob, so who ever wants to help, needs a lot of patience.

At the moment I run an Aether deck and I am able to farm silver arena. In this deck my upgraded cards are the pillars. I would like to be able to farm gold and platinum. I also never been able to kill false gods.

My gold stash is only 5k at the moment.

Thank you and I am waiting for your replies!

Id like to be an apprentice. :D Mentors may be happier seeing a more 'invested' member of the forums signing up to be an apprentice. As for my mentor, trying to take an unbiased look at the mentors, I would have to say I would like to enlist the help of either Odii or Spike for being a better competitive PVP player. I know personally Spike matches the times when I'm active and Odii seems to be having a lot of apprentices already. Im leaning more towards Spike because of those reasons, but would like for you to talk it out for who would be more convenient to help me.

If you want, I could mentor you for how to build decks against the AI, know why the decks work against the ai and why some other cards in a different variation of the deck would be better for PVP, the ai mechanics and how to abuse them, as well as learn to judge how high of an opponent your deck can beat (whether it be bronze, ai3, ai4, fg, gold, or plat. Because lets face it; any decent deck can beat ai3 consistently)

If any mentor wouldn't be too inconvenienced by some PMs, chat, or any medium you like I could do with some mentoring. I've read a lot of the deck tutorials/community recommended decks and made unupped fractix, grabbow (more like bunker's version with mirror shield because aether everywhere), ~60 card bow control, and psiontal. All done pretty well farming silver, but I'm ready to hit the FG with some guidance.

Thanks guys and gals!

hello mentors!

I used to play a few years ago then stopped. Recently returned and was wondering what was going on nowadays. What is good now to farm AI or FG?

From what I see people uses shards a lot now (and there seems to be some new ones since I last played) as well as upped sundials.
Are there some players having rare farm decks in PvP?I think I remember people holding weapon only or shards only deck.

I was up to the point of playing again FG back then, have beaten 67 of them, but now my deck is out of date and I'm not sure what to shoot for. I've seen poison dial or the brave malignant ball decks which seems good but the topics are over a year old.

No idea if all mentors are still active nor which ones have more free time as of now.

I'll be done with uni on Monday though so I'll go back to studying now  ?_?

thanks :)

I need a mentor for pvp competitive deckbuilding.

I got farming mostly down, and have a decent foundation of rares if they're needed.

Unfortunately my mind is so used to building farm decks that I don't really have a mind for competitive.

I just need somebody to give me tips when I ask for them. Somebody to PM from time to time so that I can discuss how players play here. And most importantly, why I'm wrong.

To be honest, I'm argumentative. So I'd greatly appreciate help from somebody who can be patient with me arguing with them.

As mentioned in chat, we can play non-league matches from time to time and talk about them. Also feel free to ask me via PM.

Hi guys,
don't think I need a mentor per say; I like to discover things on my own and I read the tutorials you guys write.
I need guidance about pvp. With pvp1 down, the only pvp available to me that I found are the forum's weekly tournament and Battle League. Pls someone answer:
1. any other way to pvp than these 2?
2. is ther a alternate time for the tournament? I saw something about a eastern & western times but can't find it in the tournament.
3. How do I get opponents for BL? can't find a list of participants.
Thanks.

1. You are still able to use pvp2 or ask for a friendly duel in chat. Also, different pvp competitions run from time to time, so look out for them.
2. Time changes every week. Here you can find the times for upcoming tournaments http://elementscommunity.org/forum/pvp-tournaments/tournament-quick-newsmonthly-schedule/
3. Just enter chat and ask for a BL match and if anyone agrees, post the result on forums.

1. Find someone in chat for a friendly duel!
2. Nope, sorry. Tourney is once a week, at a fixed time.
3. Ask in chat, or PM someone and schedule a time. Anyone who wants to play can jump right in!

1. Friendly duels, ask someone in chat for one! There is also PVP2, but it doesn't restrict upped cards, so be careful.

Hi, I'm looking for a mentor I guess, although people in the chat were already pretty helpful. As far as interests I think I'd like to get into PvP but I still need to get more cards before that. I promise I'll be semi-active and try my best to learn.

Thanks!

I can help you with the PvE part and making you get a good amount of electrum to upgrade your cards until you can go fully upgraded into PvP 2.
If you are interested send me a PM with the deck (or decks) you are using right now and what opponent you are fighting  :)
There are other people more involved in PvP, PvP tournaments and events, but you need to get some electrum and rares first even to go to unupped competitive PvP

This is still a thing, right? Gosh. I'm curious about navigating the Forum and all its nooks and crannies, progression of farming decks, especially FGs, quanta balance, monos to rainbows, synergies, and competitive deck building... Is that everything? Not sure if I should get a mentor, but it sounds cool.

Then comes competitive PvP and what you can innovate. But yeah, most of the apprentices were absolute beginners and had issues for improving in PvE.

Hey guys. I played a lot in the past. It has been well over a year now. I am getting re-acclimated to the game. I feel like I need a mentor because there are new cards, new terms, and new strategies. I am not picky and may not be as active as most of you but if you are willing to help please send me a reply. Right now I am farming silver to try and get shards to build a reputable deck. Thanks.

Hi, all.

I'd like to request a crash-course mentor about the more intangible things that can only be learned through experience - the PvP meta, card balance, etc. I want to find a way to (artificially) accelerate my growth as a player in time with the beginning of War. Things like farming and efficiency are no big deal for me, digging through the forums is not an extremely hard thing to do. But PvP compilations don't always paint the full picture for you, and innovating your own builds is something that takes time.

I know that the only way to truly progress is to play more, but I do think a mentor would greatly help.

I'd like to request a crash-course mentor about the more intangible things that can only be learned through experience - the PvP meta, card balance, etc.

Both of the examples you mentioned are things really the general community can help with, so you can usually just ask chat questions and typically somebody who is an expert in that field can help guide you.

This is less so for card things, since you can just post an idea and read over feedback to see how you can improve. But yes, I'd imagine PvP isn't terribly difficult to learn quickly through chat compared to a one on one experience (and besides, this is technically a lot better than one on one anyways :P)

Hello there Mentors,

After playing a few weekly tournaments I have realized that the decks I create are weak and easily beaten. I think that what I create are masterpieces that will sweep my way to a nymph/mark. Only to have my dreams crushed in the first round. What I'm saying is that I need help to create strong PvP decks and become a strong well respected PvPer. I am willing to learn and I'm a hard worker. I'm usually on around whenever I'm needed (except weekdays 7am-6pm EST [Schooling :/ ]).

If anyone is willing to help, I am willing to learn.

THANKS!

certainly.
but:
the mentor program is being reworked.
There are now 'types' of mentors, rather than them saying what exactly they are good at.
There is new criteria for applying mentors. There are three sections that one can apply to mentor for. The sections and their criteria are:
  • PvP: Must have been involved in multiple PvP events and have achieved a top three placement in at least 3 (tournaments are included in this) Holding a PvP related staff position can substitute for the placement in events, though involvement is still a requirement.
  • Deckbuilding: There will be two different types of mentors for this section
    • PvP: Mentors for this section must be involved in PvP Events and have placed well in them. They must have something to show for their PvP accomplishments, like forum trophies or BL logs.
    • AI/Arena: Mentors for this section must be experienced at EtG and have an arena deck level of 50 or higher
  • CIA: Mentors for this section must be active in the CIA section of the forums, both posting their own ideas as well as giving feedback on the ideas of other members.
  • Forums Expert: Anyone applying to mentor in this section must have posts in at least 3 different sections of the forums and know said sections like the back of their hand. They also must have been an active member of the community and have at least 200 posts on the forums. Should have decent knowledge of BB code.
If you are planning to apply to become a mentor, make sure to read over the criteria for the section you would like to apply for.
I'd be mostly a forum expert, but that doesn't mean I can't do other things (except for pvp, probably).
I wasn't sure if I should re-apply as a mentor after the reforming,
but with such a specific request I definitely will.

Hello!
as my second post on this forum i decided id post here as i would really appreciate someone helping me to learn more about the game; So far i have gotten to the false gods and crafted Firecell which has been doing pretty"bad" to be honest dropping my score from 800 to -1k.. following the guide "from rags to riches 2.0" untill now i think it'd be usefull if i could learn how to actually build decks myself and farm easier with the final goal of participating in events here.
Anyone that could help me with this? Help is highly appreciated.

Hello! I think that I am doing well so far in my endeavors, but I'd like a mentor who can help verify. I'm looking for aid with:

- Meta analyzation (recognizing what decks to use when in X event/arena level)
- Grinding/PvE tips (how to tell what kind of deck beats what kind of AI/FG/arena)
- Maybe a bit of deckbuilding (I'm not in too deep in this, but I'd love to get a platform to start)
- Rudimentary (and I mean rudimentary) PvP basics (I have zero experience. Any help at all from anybody at all would be appreciated)

Thank you to all who do anything to further my knowledge of the game :D

Hi, I'm relatively new to Elements, but I am enjoying the game very much.   :)  So far, I'm playing mono Dark and have around 2/3 of my deck upgraded so far.  I had a really lucky spin a little while ago against a half-blood player and won my first Trident! ;D  As soon as I build up a decent stash of electrum again, I'll be looking for advice on a good rainbow deck to farm half-bloods consistently.  I have zero experience with pvp and the arena.  Is my time early on better spent farming the level 3 opponents for coin and the occasional decent card I don't have (enough of) yet, or trying my hand at the arena?

Hi there, welcome to the forums! Arena is asynchronous pvp-- you face decks that other players have made that have special perks and bonuses. This means that facing the arena is pretty much like facing a regular AI, but that AI has higher rewards. In addition, arena decks lose HP over time to encourage new submissions, so you'll often find lower-than-normal HP decks in bronze and silver where there aren't as many players submitting decks. More on that here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/the-arena/the-arena-faq-(read-this-first!)/). Ah, to answer your question: Yes, try the arena! Barring lucky spins, it has generally higher rewards than AI4.

One thing to note: this particular thread isn't the best place to post questions. We have a special thread for questions here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/general-discussion/ask-a-simple-question-get-a-simple-answer/)-- Also, feel free to PM any of the mentors listed in the OP of this thread. If you want help in real-time, chat (http://elementscommunity.org/chat/blab.php) is the best place. There's also the deck help (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/deck-help/) section if you want help on a specific deck! And if you're looking for more ideas, there's this (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/farming-studies-and-statistics/decks-used-against-arena-with-stats-1-32/) wonderful compilation of decks, as well as the tutorials I linked in your introduction thread.

Hey, I would like some help on deckbuilding. I started playing 3 days ago and I'm enjoying the game so far. I'm using a  :time :rainbow deck. It's fairly balanced, I think it has a good strategy, but I found that it's not sufficient for grinding because it has a low chance of winning against Elders (25-40% win rate, according to xenocidus's simulator). I have no PVP experience, and I have brief knowledge on some strategies. I think dragtom would be the best choice for me, regarding both mentor description and time zone.

EDIT: Realizing I should go to the Deck Help section of the forum for this kind of thing.

I am willing to offer my services. Mine will be a class like setting. The agenda would be as followed;
  • Introduction to the forums
  • Show you how to get Electrum quickly and what you should spend it on
  • Teach the basics to competitions/league/tournaments
  • Pass you on to another member who is actually good at PvP for further training if required based on current skill set

PM me, find me on discord or on blab.

Teach the newbie to use 6 Dusks in every deck, then send him to shock. :D

Whooooo, that'd be fun! I still have a lot to learn from the seasoned pros, maybe I'd sign up for it.

I have been playing this game off an on for years, but have always been reluctant to be active in the community...the past few years have been off and on with activity. I am open to anyone as a guide, looking to get into pvp every so often I try pvp 2 but I never seem to find anyone.

So random PvP like PvP 1 or 2 is dead. We do have organized PvP events going all the time; League, Tournaments, Trials, War etc. Ill provide some links to those.
The real mentor program is not ongoing at the moment but just about anyone in the community is willing to help with deckbuilding and what not. You can check out the blab chat and start posting some deck in there and almost everyone would help ya out.
