Well, I've finally been inspired. Here is chapter one of my novel, Shadow Tiger! This is not related to Elements at all, but hopefully you guys still like it. Enjoy, and any constructive comments you may have are welcome!

"It's beautiful!" Marco couldn't tear his eyes away from his new house. The three-story abode was furnished on the outside with sky-blue paint, and every window was held up by a gold-encrusted, marble sill. The front walkway was lined on each side with flowers of every color, and the lawn was impeccably mowed. Birch trees, all with leaves of a lively shade of green, stood side by side on the far ends of the house, next to exquisitely carved fountains which gushed crystal-clear water.

Running to the front door, Marco passed by beautiful purple geraniums, marvelous blue hydrangeas, and his mother's favorite red hibiscus. The interior of the edifice was even more elegant. Off to his right, in what appeared to be a music room, stood a meticulously polished, new grand piano. To his left, a dining room with the largest, most extravagant chandelier Marco had ever seen hanging from the ceiling and a cabinet full of glass goblets.

Directly in front of Marco stood a majestic spiral staircase leading to the second floor, where even more rooms to explore awaited him. And the carpet! Below Marco's feet was an extremely intricately woven rug that accentuated the royalty of the house.

When Marco's father, a well-known and exceptionally successful businessman, had told him they would be moving, he hadn't said they would be moving to a masterpiece like this. Marco's father was a kind man, but very intelligent. He knew exactly the way the market worked, and used his knowledge of what the public wanted to rise to the top. If Marco's father was kind, then his mother was Mother Teresa. She always knew what would make him feel better when he was down, and also made a mean apple pie.

"Marco, here's the key to your room. You get the one on the right upstairs, all the way down the hall. Have fun!"

"Thanks! I got the biggest one right?" Marco laughed. His dad gave him a look that said, you know perfectly well who gets the biggest room, but smiled.

Marco's room was awesome. The gold and red-colored four-poster bed stood at the back of the room, with a richly carved brown nightstand on either side. On one side of the room stood a full-length mirror, and next to that, a walk-in closet. Against another wall stood a large bookshelf, and the middle of the room housed a circular rug.

My favorite quote: "The depressing thing about tennis is that no matter how good I get, I'll never be as good as a wall."
~Mitch Hedburg (thanks to plastiqe for telling me who's quote it is)
