I think that the reason this wasn't done was because then it would be the only Nymph with a seperate ability than it's Alchemy counterpart. Zanz was trying to be consistant.

I totally understand what Zanz was trying to do, but that simply doesn't excuse the creation of a card that has no place in the game.  It's like expecting to see anything other than a Lvl 1 or Lvl 5 AI playing with Dragonfly or Gnome Outrider.  There's just no reason any sane entity would ever do so.

That's not good for the game.

This Nymph is just part of the set and is best used as a product of Nymph's Tears instead of being played out of your hand. Luciferine is a decent ability, and a 7/7 is quite sturdy and is the best stats of any of the Nymphs. I don't think it's as bad as you guys think.

Well, jmizzle, you will admit this ability's power is nowhere good as the other nymphs' are... And about the stats, you can get an archangel if you want a nice 7/7 creature that can keep other creatures alive as well... in a blue/white deck the only creatures that could be luciferine(d) are... Crawlers? Not really popular... Light dragons? Arctic dragons? But light dragons are what you need the  light quanta for, and arctic dragons are supposed to come out before nymphs... Any other creature i've forgotten? (I don't even mention unupped ray of light).

Yes, its ability isn't even close to the other nymphs. And no, I wouldn't ever use this card by itself or in a Water/Light deck, because that combination is just plain terrible. But I probably wouldn't complain too much if I made one with Nymph's Tears in a rainbow type deck.

I had the same thoughts. If you were to get it randomly in a Rainbow deck from a NT'd Quantum Pillar/Tower, not only would it be a rather decent sized creature, being a 7/7, but you could use the effect on your Skeletons to produce Light quanta faster, in case a Miracle was needed somewhere in the game. Situational, yes, but not a complete let down if you were to be NT'd.

My point is that I wouldn't plan on getting it, but would make sure I had some way to make use of the ability should I get one. In a dedicated nymph deck it is only good because of the stats. In a hybrid rainbow deck (traditional/nymph) it could power Miracle/Sundial/Glory, whatever. The 1 in 12 chance to get one means that I will more often than not get a nymph with a decent ability, and when I get this 7/7 I'll have some damage to dish out. That's a fair tradeoff IMHO.

Zanz is trying to be consistent? Then change Luciferin to something else! Honestly, I've expected more from the Light Alchemy card.

As much as I hate to say it, I have to agree.   Make Luciferine a non-Alchemy card (change the art), and make the Alchemy card something like a one-shot (non-permanent) "All of your creatures gain +1/+1".  That would be totally up Light's alley and something that would be as badass as Antimatter or Quintessence on a stick.
