Like Boneyard | Graveyard, these stack.
The effect is triggered ONLY when a creature comes from the opponent's hand.  The FFQ ability, for example, wouldn't trigger it.

This idea has been percolating for some time, I finally figured out what I wanted exactly and got around to making it.  The image search on this project was evil... so evil...

I like the idea but its OP to me, I mean think of it without the inmaterial effect, death has graveyard, 1/1, 2/2 creatures when a creature dies, this generates stronger inmaterials without even having to kill a creature, I would lower phantom stats to something like 2/1, 3/1.. and Im still not sure, the concept its nice I always liked creature generator cards, but I think it destroys too many decks, and if you stack 3+ it becomes unstopable.
( does it trigger when lets say, FFQ generates a FF? )

It is dependent on your opponent, and usually a weaker option than PU.  If your opponent plays a dragon, you only get a weak 4|2 thing at best.  Yes, you can stack multiples, and I assume people would, but remember your opponent can see it's there, and possibly control the card before playing any further creatures.  You need at least 3-4 of these to match an enemy dragon.

Damage shields also wreck a deck built around this - which is why Elite Phantom is 4|2.  Diamond Shield comes out and you've got a self-imposed Malignant Cell-type lockout.  Permafrost would be especially painful.

This is partially designed as a fractal-counter.  Imagine playing Eternal Phoenix with this deck.  Pair with PU and you have yourself one nasty combo.

No, good catch, I'll put that in the notes in the table.  It specifically says when opponent "plays a card."

How about the quanta cost?  It might be a little low.

Done and done.  Now 5/6 quanta.

In case anyone didn't notice, three of my cards so far have been the copy-your-opponent variety!

Counters to fractal are very good, but I think this is much stronger than boneyard/graveyard (the existing card closest to it)

Graveyard costs 5 :death to bring out, and creates a 2/2 creature whenever a creature dies. The non-upgraded version of this costs 5 :aether and creates a 3/1 immaterial creature whenever your opponent plays a creature.

Looking at it that way, it really seems like the unupgraded version of this card is better than an upgraded boneyard, even if you assume that "a creature dies" is a more valuable trigger than "your opponent plays a creature"

Compared to PU this is cheaper, and can trigger multiple times. PU is only stronger if you assume your opponent is playing creatures that are stronger than the phantoms & are targetable. Plus you aren't using up a card each time this triggers, giving considerable card advantage.

Feels a bit like an "auto-win" versus any creature rush deck.

Most creatures in this game are stronger than even the elite phantoms, and PU has one very distinct advantage over this - it can copy everything, including creature buffs and abilities.

Creature rushes are in fact vulnerable to many forms of control, so that's not a fatal flaw in this card.  Permafrost Shield alone can slow rushes to a crawl or stop them if you're a little lucky.  Bond decks with thorn carapace.  Sexington's ragequit.  Rainbows with sundial/firestorm.  Even the dreaded shrieker rush is easy enough to beat with many decks.

These will not stack, and do not create phantoms retroactively for enemy creatures already on the field.  Perm control being very common in player decks, if this is played against you, you can destroy - or even better, STEAL - it before playing many more creatures.  The main balance mechanic of this card is that your opponent has total control over how many phantoms you generate.

And yes, "opponent plays a creature" is a weaker trigger.  Nothing that happens on your side of the field will trigger this, neither will FFQ creature spawning, flying weapons, and boneyard's effect.  Most decks do incorporate creatures to some extent, they are the most convenient and renewable source of damage, so it's worth packing a few to try and use your opponent's summons against him, but there are many counter-strategies to this card.

.  You need at least 3-4 of these to match an enemy dragon.
Yes, but you need the same number to match 2,3 or 4 enemy dragons. And you need only one to match smaller creeps, and 2 to match medium creeps.
And your opponent's creeps are vulnerable to cc, whereas yours aren't. Combined with CC, this makes for some mean options.
Would love to use these with a time combo, i.e. reverse time. =)

I like the idea, but I think you should choose between making them untargetable or making them quite good attackers. Both is a bit too much.

The copyright for the Broken Mirror artwork lies with Kris Northern and is a commercial piece.
The copyright for the Phantom artwork lies with Rose Moxon and is also a commercial piece.

I'd suggest changing both card's artwork.
So long and thanks for all the fish!
