Hai. Welcome.

How the french toast do you play MtG? Not that it matters, but I don't know.
Donuts, Noodles, or Bacon?

Legit, it's basically Elements with 5 elements, and when you attack, you declare your attacking creatures and your opponent declares which creatures will "block" yours (i.e. they deal damage to eachother ATK--> HP)  There are many more rules, but that's the gist of it.

Also, in MtG, mana (pillars to us) doesn't accumulate turn after turn, you can only play a card if you have enough "pillars" to play the cards cost THAT turn.  If you understand elements though, you can probably transition to magic fairly easily with a teacher, even though the intricacies of magic's rules can be overwhelming at times.

MtG is more elaborate than elements and its a bit slower as a game

that and the fact that MtG has over 9000 cards to play with

Plus the type 2 and draft metagames change so much that it's hard to keep track sometimes.  Often, it's like "Oh I just blew several hundred dollars on a deck that will be obsolete in 3-4 months! YAY!"  Still love Magic though, haha.
