IDEA:
Bhlewos
NOTES:
- If the target creature is in the top row, it's pulled to the central row. If in the central row, it's pulled to the bottom row. If it's on the enemy's bottom row, it can be pulled to your top row, effectively "commandeering" the creature.
- This ability can affect both sides of the field.
- The target automatically goes to the first available slot in the row it's pulled into. If the row it would be pulled into is full, it will be pulled into the next row (ie. Central row is full, target creature in top row is pulled to bottom row).

The reasoning behind this card can be summarized best by this:
Quote
[21:29:34] plastiqe: field affecting is an under explored mechanic for sure
Elements the Game has only one field affecting card, Flooding, which is currently UP. IMO if EtG had more field-affecting cards, this would increase the number of strategies available to Flooding, and make it more useful. And, failing that, EtG would have a whole new subset of cards and tactics that would hopefully make the card more interesting.

The name Bouguer's Demon (hehe, booger) derives from the Bouguer anomaly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bouguer_anomaly). What the Demon does isn't strictly the same as what the theory discusses, but then again Maxwell's Demon doesn't do the exact same thing as the real Maxwell's Demon does, so I hope I can be forgiven for the choice of name.

Partly to make it stronger due to the current lack of field-affecting cards it would combo with, I changed the ability from being able to damage airborne creatures to being able to "commandeer" an enemy creature -- similar in effect to Twin Universe, but slower and more costly (4 :gravity + 3 :gravity + 3 :gravity for a center creature versus 7 :aether, and 4 :gravity + 2 :gravity + 2 :gravity versus 6 :aether). It would not leave a copy of the creature on the other side, however.

Similarity to Iridium Warden and justification for giving it ATK:
The Warden's ability applies to the majority of creatures who are not airborne, and a method exists (Web) which can remove the airborne passive. There's no adding an airborne passive yet, and the number of creatures who are airborne are currently a minority, so Bouguer's Demon was given 3 ATK in both versions.

If added to the game as it is now, I believe Bouguer's Demon would be UP -- but I hope if more field-affecting cards are added, this could find synergies and combos with those cards.

As I said before, this card is trying to open up a part of the game where spot on the field matters, as now there is only one card. Seems like a uniquish idea, though at this point in the game, it does not have much of a use unless flooding is out, or to deal damage to Nom :)
Gone for awhile now, though I still pop by from time to time.

Can you change the wording so that the mechanic fits the game, where the opponent would view the effect that occurs differently?

I think that the theme is weak (weaker than the average card in the armory) and the stats (3 attack) make Graviton Guard/Mercenary cry. (Of course, that can easily be fixed by giving Guard/Mercenary a buff.)

How's this?

":gravity Anomaly: Displace target creature to a more central row, and deal damage if airborne."

I agree, it's "weak" right now, but I'm counting on it becoming more useful as more field-affecting card ideas are created.

You mean "less central"? (The intended interaction with occupied slots suggests that the effect would become way too specialized with "more central".) The current wording for Flooding suggests that "higher" and "lower" should work.

"Lower row" would probably work.

What I pictured was that from the user's perspective, the target creature would move to the row that's the next closer. So if you used it, the opponent's lower row would move to his/her central row, then to his/her higher row, and if you used it on your own creature it would move first from your higher row, to your central row, to your lower row. EtG doesn't seem to have a direction or terminology for that direction, though.

I saw your request in the Card Art thread, though you linked the Discussing Life (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,33547.0.html) thread by accident. ^^;

Here are two edits to Maxwell's Demon I made : One's just a recolors with an edited background and some subtle wave effects I added, and the other was me taking a bit of artistic liberty. Feel free to use either.

EDIT : So me, ddevans, and Bhlewos were playing around with combining my edits on chat, and we found out the two images merged are pretty interesting. Here's one I made:

This one's Bhlewos's fusion:

So your pulling them forward toward you? Does that mean if one moves from middle to front row then into your side (now your monster/creature?)

No, it can't pull enemy creatures onto your side of the field, though I've been considering making it so it can...if I do its stats would have to go through some changes though.

But if it doesn't then whats the point of moving a creature? unless you move it into a flooded area i don't see the point of this.

I actually like the idea of making it possible to move a creature onto your side (making this card highly useful in the current metagame)... The ability cost would need to be increased to :gravity :gravity :gravity at least though, and the creature cost might need an increase as well.
