This sparked from a discussion in chat, involving 7 European Masters, 4 American Masters and 1 pending that will be either European or Asian.

Can we restore the old USA vs The World event? There are many ways to do so.

- Team Europe, Team Americas, Team Australasiafrica
- Country v Country, Team based.
- Country v Country, a champion for each country
- Country v Country, everybody who wants to participate participates for their country

And so on.

Anyone got any ideas?

I think country v. country might leave a lot of people who want to participate out (or at least with very small teams).
My vote goes to Continent v. Continent (i.e. North America vs. South America vs. Europe vs. Asia vs. Africa vs. Australia vs. Antarctica)
But I think Antarctica might be a little OP with all the godly players from there, so we should just ban them.

EDIT: Eh, starting to think that "Team Europe, Team Americas, Team Australasiafrica" might be better.

I had this idea some time ago, some people liked it but we didn't move forward with it:

http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,44412.0.html

- Country v Country, Team based. would be very good, however we some countries with few players (1 or 2 players), so it is not feasible.
It is feasible if you make qualifiers for countries with lots of players. You'll get teams of 3 per country. Then matches against smaller teams are totally doable (see link).

I'm a big fan of the World Cup concept, i.e. country v. country, with a champion for each country.  Countries with one player are obvious.  Countries with many players would hold tournaments to decide their champions.

- Country v Country, Team based.
would be sweet!
3 players per team with qualifiers for countries with bigger attendance seems just right.
maybe countries with less than 3 players can agree to team up?
(i.e.: if i were from greece, and had to team up with 2 finnish guys, we could form "Team Greenland"  :o ;D)

I think you guys are forgetting how many people from the USA and many European countries play this game. To narrow that down to THREE people would be a huge competition in itself.

Therefore, to save time and hassle, I think America, Europe, and Australiasiafrica works better.

I repeat what I've said on my World Cup idea thread about USA qualifiers:

Spoiler for estimation:
There are about 3000 forum members. Let's say that 1/3 are from the USA (1024 to make the math simple). Let's assume that all of them are currently active, that they all have more than 30 posts, and that they all want to participate (which would be awesome, by the way). You arrange them in groups of 4, and you have 256 groups. After the 3 weeks of round robin you get your 256 group winners, and you arrange them in a (very large) single bracket. After 8 stages (weeks) you get your National Team. That's 11 weeks, almost 3 months. It's long, but not eternal. It would require some heavy organization, though.

Now, that's the absolute worst case scenario. We could make an estimation of how many reasonably active people from USA are around. I'm sure it would be a big crowd, but nowhere near 1024.
