TRIALS Challenge a Master, Become a Master
What is a Master? Each of the 12 Elements has a Master, which is a
forum title. A Master is usually a decorated and respected veteran player who knows a lot about Elements and is skillful in PvP. Masters participate in big forum events like War, and defend their title against challengers during Trials. The
Staff page has all the current Masters listed.

What are Trials?Every so often we will hold Trials, during which community members compete for a chance to challenge one of the 12 Masters. Trials have 4 parts. The first three parts are for collecting points. The one challenger from each element with the most points gets to fight for the title against the current Master. How many points you gathered during parts 1-3 determines how many upgraded cards you can use in the epic Final Battle, where the winner gets the title of Master.
Requirements for joining Trials? Not everyone can join the Trials. There are some minimum requirements to ensure that the person is serious about becoming a Master.
- 50,000+ score in Elements
- 200+ forums posts
- Joined the forums no less than 3 months ago (at the time of signing up)
Spamming the forums to get those 200 posts is not allowed, and you have to provide a screen shot of your score.
One last thing. Some people might think they are not "worthy" of becoming a Master so they skip this event. Please don't do that. This is all just for
fun, and shouldn't be taken too seriously. If you think this kind of event would be fun, I order you to participate. Like I always say, if you manage to take a title from that Master, that alone proves you have earned it.
How do I join Trials?7th trials will be different from previous trials in that
there will be no Proving of Worthiness. Instead, there will be a
Registration phase, where for a week you sign up to participate in trials. If you do not sign up then, do not worry, you can still participate. You may sign up for an element directly then. However, you will not receive the five points for registering, which may cause you to not be able to participate in the trial that you wish for.
PATH TO BECOMING A MASTERTrials has 4 different phases. Phases 1-3 are for collecting points. Last phase is the Final Battle between the current Master and the most promising challenger or the two most promising challengers if there is no defending Master. The points you collected in Phases 1-3 determines how many upgraded cards you can use in the fight.
PHASE 1 - RegistrationFor a week after the elemental registration topics are posted, you may register to join trials. Doing so will grant you 5 points to use in the final battle. Masters who wish to defend their titles will sign up in their respective registration topics. Elemental Signups will continue for 2 days after this for anyone who did not sign up during the initial week. Anyone who signs up during this period will not be awarded any points. Priority will be given first to players with the higher Phase 1 scores and second to a combination of score/post count. This means if you have 100 million score and 100 million posts but you didn't complete the task during Phase 1, you may find yourself unable to register for your preferred element. If players are pushed out of the element for which they registered time will be given for them to register for a different element.
PHASE 2 - BattlesChallengers Challengers from every element will fight each other in a mini-tournament with round-robin rules meaning each challenger fights every other challenger once. Battles are "best-of-five" with the winner gaining 3 points.
Challengers will also be given opponents from other elements to face until they have 4 players to face in total (in element + out element). Battles are "best-of-five" with the winner gaining 3 points. These extra opponents will be, if possible, the same for every person in a single trial.
Losing 3-2 will award you 1 point.
| Masters Masters will fight each other in a mini-tournament that consists of series of "best-of-five" PvP matches. Starting opponents are determined randomly. Points will both be determined by the amount of participants and will be rewarded based on tournament standing. (Table to be updated when the number of Masters participating in this is confirmed.
1st | 16 points | 2nd | 12 points | 3rd | 10 points | 4th | 8 points | 5th | 6 points | 6th | 4 points | 7th | 3 points | 8th | 1 points |
Some Masters who are not keeping their title will participate in the tourney.
|
Any player who does not post their Phase 2 decks will both not receive Phase 2 points and be disallowed from being in the Phase 3 poll.
PHASE 3 - Community VoteThe community votes on who they think would make the best Master. Each community member has one vote per element, and can vote for either one of the Challengers, or the current Master.
Players who can't reach the final battle anymore will be not included in the polls. In addition, anyone who does not post their Phase 2 decks by the end of Phase 2 will not be included in the Phase 3 polls. This applies to Masters as well, but if there is a tournament styled phase 2 they must post their decks immediately after each battle.
The number of points you score is based on the percentage of votes you get, rounded up. If there is a situation where rounding up would mean more than 10 points given, the player with the highest "extra" percentage of votes gets the advantage (54%/46% -> 5 points and 5 points). In case of a tie, the player with more gets the advantage (54%/44% -> 6 points and 4 points)
100% of votes | 10 points |
90% of votes | 9 points |
80% of votes | 8 points |
70% of votes | 7 points |

50% of votes | 5 points |
40% of votes | 4 points |
30% of votes | 3 points |
20% of votes | 2 points |
10% of votes | 1 points |

* War Bonus *Masters who were Generals during the previous War will receive extra points based on how successful they were. Challengers who apply to the same element as they were in war will receive extra points as well. Challengers who generaled for the element they are trialing for will receive the Soldier bonus. War bonus points for Challengers will only come into effect if they make it to the final battle.
Rank in War | Master | Soldier |
1st in War | 9 | 6 |
2nd in War | 6 | 4 |
3rd in War | 3 | 1 |
4th-6th | 1 | 0 |
7th-12th | 0 | 0 |
Elemental LoyaltyIf you have participated in trials before, and you trial for an element you have trialed for before, for every trial you provide proof of participation for in your registration post, you can gain 1 point (maximum of 3). These points will only come into effect if you make it to the final battle. I will not look for proof of participation for you, and if it is not linked in your post you will not receive credit for it (yes, even if you are a master and retaining if you do not post proof you will not receive the point).
Proof of Participation may be at least one of the following for each Trial of an element you have participated in: Phase 1 submissions, Phase 2 battle reports, Phase 3 polling topics, and final battle reports.
Post this in your Registration Post.

One challenger from each element with the most points gets to fight for the title against the current Master.
PHASE 4 - Final BattleThe Final Battle is "best-of-nine" meaning that the player who gets 5 wins first, wins the battle. If a Master wins, he or she retains the title. If a challenger wins, he or she becomes the new Master. Each Trials winner of the past, present, and future will also be given a forum award icon.
During Final Battle deckbuilding the maximum amount of upgraded cards allowed is the number of points a player scored during phases 1-3.
