What is Forum Brawl?
Forum Brawl is a forum event where up to 12 teams show their awesomeness against each other in different tasks that happen all around the forums.

Teams will have 7 members, each with their own special role. Players go head-to-head against players from other teams by doing tasks based on what their role is. The community decides which players perform the best, and points are awarded accordingly. After 6 rounds of brawling, the team with the highest score will be the winner.

What makes Forum Brawl different from most other events is the fact that there is no PvP in Forum Brawl. The event is all about creativity, artistic skills, and most importantly, forum awesomeness.

Brawlmaster
We will have two Brawlmasters who are responsible for Forum Brawl event. They will have an active role in designing the tasks for each round, and will handle all the day-to-day actions like posting new topics or replying to questions about the event. Brawlmasters will be appointed by the Elements Council. This time around they are Naesala and Chapuz.

How to Join Forum Brawl
Forum Brawl will usually happen right after War event ends. Once the sign-up topic is posted and the Bosses are made public, any community members may join the event.

Each player will create a short application in their own thread for the generals to later vote on. An example is given below. Players should list their top 3 favorite teams, top three favored roles, time zone, and availability. Additionally, members should, if able, create a short portfolio of their works via links to show their ability and should write a small paragraph on why they would be good members for Brawl. Important things to consider are dependability, availability, and skill.

Building the Team
Generals will have 50 initial points to be spent on their team members. They will bet with these points and will start Brawl with the remaining ones. They can not go into negative points.
If 2 Bosses bet equally for a player, the player decides the team they will be in.
If a role does not receive enough people wishing to fill it, it may be dropped from the event.

Spoiler for application example:
Brawl Application

Name: Naesala
Favored Teams:  :gravity:death:aether
Favored Roles: Card Designer, Offtopicker, Forum Expert
Timezone (GMT): GMT -5
Usually Online: 3-6 and midnight to 4
Portfolio: Card Creator: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,33772.12.html
Offtopicker: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,44430.0.html
Why I would make a good Brawl member: I would make a good Brawl member because I am the Brawlmaster, and therefore can alter all the results in my favor. Also I'm cool, and people like me.

Roles
1. Boss
Each team will have a Boss whose main responsibility is to build the team. Boss will also participate in the event by dueling other Bosses in random tasks. Boss is different from other roles because you cannot sign-up as a boss. Masters of each element will first be given the opportunity to become a Boss. If a Master is unable or unwilling to join the event, he or she can name a replacement. The event is not compulsory, so Masters should not be afraid to use a replacement if they feel they do not have enough time or interest.

2. Card Designer
Card Designers duel other Card Designers by producing a new card idea based on theme and restrictions posted each round.

3. Deckbuilder
Deckbuilders duel other Deckbuilders by building unique decks based on theme and restrictions posted each round.

4. Artist
Artists produce unique Elements related art. This category includes any visual medium, so photography, film and drawings are permissible or can be required besides digital art.

5. Writer
Writers produce unique Elements related stories and poems.

6. Off-Topicker
Off-Topickers get tasks that are related to one of the section in Off-Topic Discussions. This role requires well-rounded skills in many different areas (or amazing Google/Wikipedia skills).

7. Forum Expert
Forum Experts work with many of the things that make the forums great that don't fit into above categories (Wiki, Tools, etc.).

Rounds
Forum Brawl has a total of 6 rounds, each lasting 7 days. A new round will start as soon as the last one ends. Tasks will be relatively simple so 7 days should be more than enough time to perform them. Overall workload of Forum Brawl will be much less than in events like War and Trials. The event lasts 7-8 weeks in total.

Scoring
Scoring will be based on community vote and bonus points given by the Expert Panel.

1. Community Vote
Each round, there will be a public poll on all submissions. Each forum member receives two votes and polls will run for 6 days.In the event of a tie, tied submissions will add their points together and divide evenly. Any extra points will be dropped.

Place ~>

Round 2013456
Round 3023568
Round 41346810
Round 513571012
Round 624691215

2. Expert Panel
Both Brawlmasters and one other elected member pick their favorites in all 6 categories. Each submission that is picked by one of the members of the Expert Panel, scores an additional 2 points. One submission can receive bonus points from more than one Expert Panel member.
Scoring will happen during rounds so that the scoring of round 1 will happens during round 2, scoring of round 2 happens during round 3, etc.

Challenges
Each player may once, at any time, challenge another in the same role to a contest they choose in their field. They both have one week to complete the assignment. The community votes on the challenges the next voting phase. The winner gains 8 points and the loser loses 8 points. The challengee may decline the challenge, in which case they forfeit 5 points.

Challenges are declared by PMing the Brawlmasters but not the challengee. Challengers will title the PM [Challenge] [Challenging team] within the first four days of a round. If the Brawlmasters approve the challenge, they will send the approval to the challenger and challengee. Both players must submit their finished work by the end of the next round. Submissions will be voted on in the next voting round. If the challengee does not make a submission, they will have been considered as declining.

Spoiler for example:
Artist A PMs the Brawlmasters he wants to challenge Artist B: They must make a drawing representing each others' Deckbuilders ideas from last round.
Before the next round starts, the Brawlmasters send a PM to both players that they accepted it and how it must be submitted. During that round, both players (or any team member) submit by PM the challenge submission with the title [Challenge] [Team A] [Team B]. The challenge submissions is revealed in the next voting phase. The one that takes more votes steals 8 points from the other team.

Wagers
Each player can, up to 2 times, bet against another in the same role for any amount of points between 6 and 15. If the wager is accepted, the players bid the amount points decided by the wagerer. If it is declined, that player loses 5 points.
The wager consists of getting more votes than the other player in the next round.

Wagers are declared by PMing the Brawlmasters and the target of the wager with the title [Wager] [Wagering Team] within the first three days of a new round. The wagered player must answer to the wagerer and the Brawlmasters if he accepts or not, BEFORE the next round's tasks are revealed. If there is no response by that time, it is considered as a declined wager.

Winner
The team that has the most points after all 6 rounds, wins the event. All members of the team will receive a cool forum award icon and tons of respect.

This event is no longer under construction, but we still appreciate feedback. If you have any ideas on how to improve the rules, please post it in the Suggestions and Feedback topic. Thank you.

What's the ruling on team names? Team Nyan Sharks and Flying Air Pigs kind of became names in the middle. Will bosses be picking a name for the team? (before people are on the team). When creating our sign-up topic, would we put a team name, or just stick with the element?

We came up with our name fairly quickly. It doesn't make sense for the bosses to pick the name, only approve it. Should be a group decision in the name should be changed.

So in any auction events, are you supposed to form your team in advance, and then sandbag on your applications so your master/boss can take you for cheap?

like in war should you say I'll never be online and taking a permanent vacation in 2 weeks and have no upgraded cards?

I'm realizing that if people bid a lot on me, then they won't have as many points to spend on my teammates, and since my quality will be the same, you want to have the best teammates. On the other hand having a boss that appreciates you more is good I guess. And of course bragging rights if the bidding is public.

On the other hand having a boss that appreciates you more is good I guess. And of course bragging rights if the bidding is public.

Before, in war, you could ban elements and get targeted by the specific one you want.

Unfortunately, in Brawl, you don't have that option.

As much as it seems like a good idea to sandbag a team, the fun wouldn't be to lie (I will be inactive blah blah) (not only because that is wrong in ethics and morale but because it is downright silly), but to see how much the bosses would think you are worth (self - evaluation, such as the 14-card team or the old 24card-team bid in war.)

Further on, much of the strategy during auction is the bosses trying to get this or that player that they would think is worth more (As in - a player that is worth the points invested.) The act of fake-bidding on one so that the other team would be forced to raise their bid if they want to get said player is also an option. The whole act of bidding on people and the auctioning part is pretty strategic, and doing what you say would only take away the fun, competitive sense, strategy, and honesty from all auctions.

TL;DR - You're not supposed to, but you can if you want to. Except it's probably gonna be looked down upon and easily spotted.

wow i didnt even think of that... think of it this way though, if you do that, you dont find out how much you are actually worth, and cant lord it over everyone who is worth less.
