A (hopefully) new twist on field movement. This card's skill has a duel function depending on what type of target is chosen. The player may either target an open slot to create a rift, or (if a rift is already in place on an open slot) they may target a creature to move it into one of the open rifts.

If there are no rifts in place over open slots, then the player will only be able to target open slots.

The rifts are field effects and will benefit even immaterial creatures. Similarly, the player may target their own immaterial creatures to move them.

The unupgraded version was made as inexpensive as possible so it can be powered off of a mark and the upgraded version was left with a rainbow type cost. This was done so that this card can be used to allow movement for a wide range of decks.

I realize this card also opens up potential for scorpion decks. Hopefully the limited duration on the rift will help balance that out and keep it from being too OP.

Honestly, I could go either way on it myself as well (I picked aether partly because I already had some nifty art for it). It really fits both pretty well...

I can always start up a poll and see which one people like best. If people like grav better I can always make / update the artwork to fit.

Making the rifts permanent would help in terms of providing a stat bonus (which is a secondary goal), but would detract from the utility for field movement (which is the primary goal).

The reason is that if rifts are permanent, then field will eventually become saturated with rifts. Since creatures get moved to the nearest rift, it would quickly become nearly impossible to move a creature to a desired slot.

I can extend the duration a bit, but they really do need to remain transient or this card will cease to be useful for field movements.

The rifts themselves would be represented by a transparent graphic of some kind over the corresponding region in the field. (it would probably show under any creature summoned or moved there just like flooding).

When a player clicks on this card:
1) If there are no rifts present, all the open field slots on their side that have no rift would light up as viable targets.
2) If there is a rift present, all open fields slots their side that have no rift and all allied creatures would show up as viable targets.

Then,

If the player chooses an open field slot, a rift gets placed there.

If the player clicks on a creature, it gets moved to the nearest unoccupied rift. It then gains a stat bonus for as long as the rift remains open.

With 2 of these in play, you can easily open a rift and move a creature to it all in the same turn.

You could also use it as a simple stat buff by targeting a rift onto the slot that your next creature would get played to and then play the creature. It will get the buff for as long as the rift remains.

Finally, a decently done location-moving card...

In the spirit of filling in missing elemental niches, Time would be another good candidate... May need to change the name to "teseract" or something like that, but I think it still works out thematically.
The cool part would be that it would provide the :time element with a way to provide stat buffs (which it currently lacks)

Nice card. It seems a bit problematic on two points for me:
- why does the effect lasts only for two turns? It is way less strong than a SoP, even if the setup is different.
- why can it target Immaterial creatures to move them? (I don't like that ^^. Immaterial = untargettable) they gain the bonus, this is enough imo.

So you can have more than 1 creature in each rift?
If this is the case, what happens if the user tries to play a creature due to seeing open creature slots when he has 23 creatures on the field already? Would you have a different 'rift' message display or display the current message for having filled all the creature slots?
