Hm, what if I buff the boost it gets [~ +3 | 0] but only of creatures of the same element as your Mark?
Would that be an improved design or a lesser design? I think it would result in a creature with fewer deck options. This does not sound like an improvement.
It would limit its use a good deal... but that may be a bonus if it is to be kept as a
cost card.
Typically,
cost cards have a tendency to overly favor rainbow deck strategies.
If this card only gains bonus from mark type creatures, then it limits the extent to which rainbow decks are favored.
I.e. it would only be truly useful in decks that are mainly mono-like (read - mark centric) but use rainbow as a splash for powering abilities, support spells, etc. Most creatures, however, would need to be of the decks mark type though, to help maximize this card's effectiveness
It would also favor decks that are good at producing large numbers of creatures of the same element, For example - pharaoh bow, kitty-skelly spam, firefly, RoL - Hope, FFQ, etc.
Pure rainbow decks (those that draw roughly equally from all elements) would see much less benefit, particularly if they draw creatures from a wide range of elements.
This provides a rather unique method of overcoming some of the issues associated with rainbow cost. (though probably not all of them, but its a start)
So this card would be an "improvement" over ghorapines in the sense that it can be used without forcing inclusion of a specific element, but would do so without giving too much power to rainbow deck archetypes.
