Clash of the Shard Summoners - RulesOriginal idea by: [CENSORED] | Developed by: [CENSORED] | Art by: [CENSORED] | Organized by: [CENSORED]
Collect enough Shards to summon your Shard Golem, then crush the opposition!
1. SIGNING UPAnyone with a forum and a chat account can sign up for this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully. Then sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. If you cannot find a sign up topic, or if it is locked, this event is not currently active, and you will have to wait for it to restart.
The maximum number of participants for this event is
32. If the event is full, you can still sign up as a reserve player. Reserve players will get a chance to join the event if any of the 32 players doesn't show up during round 1, or leaves the event for any reason.
2. BRACKETSThis event uses a 5 round
Swiss tournament bracket, followed by a
single-elimination tournament bracket of the Top 8 players from the Swiss portion.
In the Swiss portion, players will be paired up against players with similar numbers of collected Shards. After 5 rounds, the Top 8 players from the Swiss portion will move on to the single-elimination portion. In the single-elimination tournament, players will be seeded according to their performance (number of Shards collected) in the Swiss portion -- #1 vs. #8, #2 vs. #7, etc.
Each round, the Organizer will create a new topic in the Battle Results section for each battle taking place. Each player's Shards, attuned elements, the spell-focus Shard, and the prize Shards will be shown.
3. PREPARATIONSBefore the event begins, each player will send in a list of three elements to use as their attuned Shard elements. Not all of the elements chosen have to be different. Examples of valid submissions:
1.
2.
3.
1.
2.
3.
1.
2.
3.
Before the start of each round, match-ups will be posted. Each match-up will have one randomly generated spell-focus Shard, and four randomly generated prize Shards.
4. DECKBUILDINGDecks may only cards of the elements of the player's attuned Shards or of the spell-focus Shard.
For each complete set of "rainbow Shards" (1 of each element) collected, a player may choose to PERMANENTLY attune one additional element. The attuned element may not change throughout the event.
Cards from "Other" are not allowed.
Standalone Mark cards count as a card of the element they feature (e.g. Mark of Aether is an Aether card.)
Maximum number of upgrades allowed = 3 × [greatest number of collected Shards of one element - 1] + 2 × [number of collected Shards in each non-greatest element - 1] + 12 × [sets of rainbow Shards collected]
Note that the spell-focus Shard is not factored into the upgrade number calculation.
Examples:
= 3 × (12 - 1) <-- 12 Aether shards
= 33 upgrades
= 3 × (5 - 1) + 2 × (3 - 1) + 2 × (2 - 1) + 2 × (1 - 1) + 2 × (1 - 1) <-- 5 Aether shards (most), 3 Death shards, 2 Darkness shards, 1 Fire shard, 1 Water shard
= 12 + 4 + 2 + 0 + 0
= 18 upgrades
= 3 × (6 - 1) + 2 × (6 - 1) <-- 6 Aether shards (most), 6 Death shards ("second-most")
= 15 + 10
= 25 upgrades
= 3 × (1 - 1) + 2 × (1 - 1) + ... + 2 × (1 - 1) + 12 <-- 1 set of rainbow Shards
= 0 + 0 + ... + 0 + 12
= 12 upgrades
5. DUELSEach round, players have 4 days to make the fight happen. They must contact their opponent using a PM, and try to find a time that suits both. If the fight doesn't happen, both players lose by default, unless one player is clearly more active in trying to find a suitable time. Event Organizer will determine who the most active player was, and his or her word is final. It is strongly encouraged to keep a copy of the scheduling PMs sent and received for evidence if needed.
Any player who fails to complete two matches over the course of the event will be removed and subject to the
PvP Parasite Warning System.
All matches are five games long. The player who won the greater number of games wins the match.
Desynchs will be replayed using the same decks and marks. If one player agrees that they would have lost that game, their opponent is awarded the win and the two players may move on to the next game, if needed. If there is any dispute over a result, simply replay the game and PM the Event Organizer with the match in question. The Organizer will then determine whether the original match should have been awarded or if the replay should count.
It's a good idea to either record the matches or take screenshots as proof, in case something weird, like a desync error, happens. Players who are caught cheating will be permanently banned from all Elements Community PvP events, so please play fair.
6. AFTER DUELSWhen you complete a match, both players will immediately post the battle results along with the decks they used in the appropriate Battle Results thread (it would be useful to keep track of how many Custom Points you used to build the modified deck). A summary of what occurred is also encouraged.
Make sure your deck is EXACTLY what you played -- you MUST keep codes. Any player who delays posting their decks after the match risks forfeiture or even removal from the event. Editing your post containing the decks you used is discouraged but not prohibited.
After each match and BEFORE the countdown for the current round ends, the winner of the match chooses a number of Shards from their match's prize pool (spell-focus Shard + 4 prize Shards) equal to the number of games they won. For example, winning 5-0 means that the winner takes all 5 Shards from the prize pool, and winning 3-2 means that the winner picks 3 Shards for themselves and leaves the loser with 2 Shards to add to their collection.
Shard choices must be sent via PM to the Organizer. If the winner of a match does not send in their choice by the deadline of the round, they will chose random Shards from their prize pool. Shard choices made will be publicly revealed when pairings for the next round are posted.
7. SUBSTITUTIONSIf a player drops out or is removed from the event for any reason, the Event Organizer will replace them with a player off the Substitution List. The new player will gain control of all collected Shards and attuned elements the replaced player had before their removal.
8. PVP PARASITE WARNING SYSTEMIn addition to all the rules stated already, this event operates under the
PvP Parasite Warning System rules as well. Please make sure you read and fully understand them before joining this event.
9. REWARDSThe winner of the event will receive the following forum award icon:
