I agree with furballdn on the thematics. Gravity works as evasion by pulling something from one direction to another, but that generally means that something else takes the hit instead.
Outright blocking seems to fit
better (unyielding / immovable shielding) , or maybe
(divine intervention). Or you could conceive it as erasing the event from ever happening which would fit
better.
Alternatively if the effect redirects to this spell's caster, that would fit
(redirection) or
(honorable sacrifice / intervention) pretty well, while dodging fits
the best.
Swinging the attack back upon its source would fit
pretty well too (e.g. a slingshot like effect)... but that would warrant a higher cost I think
Another idea would be to give the ally temporary invulnerability, which would fit
or
.
lastly, you could have it absorb to quanta. The element
has a precedent there, but
or
could be seen to fit as well.
... That's what I get from the elemental thematics at least.
