NOTES:
Misdirection and secrets rule the day today.
Be wary of any words you may peruse anywhere.  Even in the stall.

Thanks to vrt for suggesting and providing the art.  I can use it, right?  That was permission, right?

I have known Rutarete for a long enough time.  Long enough that I know that he likes reading.  Hence the ability peruse.

I may be overselling him, but he has also been known in some occasions to be able to absorb and adapt information.  If he does so efficiently?  I shall turn to my fifth amendment rights for that and refrain from further comments...

Regarding the ability mechanically, it does work.  When working another card idea, it was observed that the viewing of the opponent's hand did not count as targeting and thus allowing the ability to work without breaking the code's issues with multiple targets.

When a card is absorbed by the ability Peruse, the effect depends on the nature of the card being targeted.

If a creature is targeted, Rutarete |Rutarete only takes the creature's stats and adds them to his own stats until the end of the next turn.

If a spell or permanent is targeted, Rutarete | Rutarete only gains the ability until the end of the next turn.  It also gains the costs of the ability accordingly.  If it is a spell, the cost of the spell is halved and rounded up to the nearest whole number.

Regardless of the card type being targeted, the targeted card cannot be used during the turn it is targeted.

Due to the nature of the ability, it can only be used after letting Peruse recharge, as it is reset at the end of every turn.

NOTES:
When created means when a new one appears, whether it's via TU, Fractal, Mitosis, or played from the hand.

Description

Thematics:
I've always felt attached to the element of :air because that is the element that I chose first when playing the game. It's also one of the key elements in the SoFrepi combo, a strategy that has almost become my "signature". The occasional usefulness ability is a joke that because of my massive spamminess on the forums, every now and then I get a post that is "good", and the mitosis ability is a jab at how I seem to be everywhere at the same time. The randomness and fragility of it also represent the SoFrepi combo, dependent of good card draws and being susceptible to control, but when it does work, it produces beautiful results.

Mechanics:
The 3atk of the upgraded version and the gain of +5 will push it to 8. 3 and 8 are perfect for the SoFrepi combo, and that allows for a very useful hitter. The averages of furball will end up being 3|1 and 4|1 for 3 :air, with the ability to create new ones for 3 :life. Compared to FFQ, it gets out much faster, but the only things it has over FFQ are speed and pure offense. It lacks the defense that FFQ has as well as the useful quanta generation the fireflies have. This also matches a lot of the decks I've created and nearly all my SoFrepi decks, focusing on a pure straight up fast rush while sacrificing stability, being very vulnerable to control.

ART:

NOTES:
- A Fire counter will give a creature +1|-1.
- It is transferable, so when the ability is used, one is removed from the Ascabi and one is placed on target creature. (so the Ascabi gets -1|+1 and the target gets +1|-1)
- The ability can be used once per turn. Note that the Ascabi will eventually die (the counters modify the maxHP, not just the currentHP, so it cannot be healed back).

Description: Flavour-wise: I always viewed my avatar as a burning, undead mage. That is what I aimed to capture with the card. The creature is undead, so it belongs primarily into the element  :death. He is burning with magical fire -  fire which gives him power, but slowly eats him away. He is, however, able to use his magics to transfer this fire to others. His magic is powered by the magical fires burning within him. That explains the active skill and the cost. Note that while the Ascabi simply harvests the magical fire's powers to fuel his own (thus, getting more stronger), setting other creatures on fire burns them (that's why the HP reduction) while getting  them into a blind, excruciating rage (that' why they hit harder). The Ascabi, being undead, has no problems with the pain while burning, but the magical fire slowly burns away his bones, so eventually he will die too.
Ohh, and on the name: Ascabi is the in-world name for undead mages. (kind of lich, I guess)

Gameplay-wise: My two favorite elements are fire and death. I am also a big fan of rushes. That's why I decided to give fire and death a good creature that helps them rush. First things first, it is agressively costed, so it should have no problems finding a home in a rushdeck. Its ability is versatile- That is a very, very important factor when one designs good agressive cards. If not used at all, it simply makes the Ascabi a stronger attacker, at the cost of eventually killing it (this rhymes well with  :death's theme as well as  :fire 's "strong hitters with small HPs" tendency). However, if the ability is used wisely, it can either kill the opponent's dangerous creatures (thus, advancing the rush) or it can be used to boost the attack of our own creatures. (at the cost of HP, which is again very resonant with  the element :fire.)

NOTES:
My entry for ETG User Cards 2 competition. It is a permanent with two activated abilities, each of one available in different circumstances:
* Generating a Thorn/Spine Carapace means creating a Thorn/Spine Carapace shield on your shield slot, removing any previous shields which were there.
* The "6 :death:Thorns" and "5 :death:Spines" abilities are available and the "6  :darkness: Grasping Thorns" and "5  :darkness: Grasping Spines" are non-available as long as there is NOT a Thorn Carapace or a Spine Carapace on your shield slot. As soon as a Thorn/Spine is created on your shield slot, then the "6 :death:Thorns" and "5 :death:Spines" abilities become non-available and the "6  :darkness: Grasping Thorns" and "5  :darkness: Grasping Spines" become available. If your Thorn/Spine is removed from your shield slot, then "6 :death:Thorns" and "5 :death:Spines" become available again, while "6  :darkness: Grasping Thorns" and "5  :darkness: Grasping Spines" become non-available.

LORE:

Arthanasios the Scum is a very infamous warlord who has a dozen of secret bases in the Elements world, which are connected through a series of underground caves and magical portals. It is believed he owns at least one secter fortress in each of the twelve major realms; the Earthen and Magma Mountains, Graviton Basin, Desert of Time, Kingdom of Light, Forest of Life, Dead Marshes, Kingdom of Darkness, Etheria, Windswept Shores, Frozen North and Chaos Triad.
He was born as a simple commoner in a village deep within the Forest of Life and his ability to manipulate quanta was minimal. However, since he got great ambitions for himself, he studied hard in order to improve in life quanta mastering. However, as Arthanasios grew up and he had learnt everything he could for utilizing :life in the surronding forest area, he decided to ascend the Great Rivers  and to travel towards the Kingdom of Light and the Frozen North, since :light and :water were eternal allies with his homeland. Unfortunately, Arthanasios eagerness for power prevent him from mastering :light and his lack of patience made :water unwilling to obey him, so he returned back in the Forest of Life and that time he followed River Styx instead. That foul river sent him to the Death Marshes first and to the Kingdom of Darkness later, where Arthanasios became corrupted from the tainted powers. The Dark Gods promised high power for low cost, giving him the ability to express his envy by poisoning others and his greed by stealing whatever he wanted. His corrupted and dishonored deeds made him imfamous via the title 'Arthanasios the Scum', a title which he proudly holds even nowdays.
Scum's secret fortresses are protected by magical poisonous thorns, created by Arthanasios himself, which act as a venomous shield against any nearby intruders. Furthermore, many citizents and elementals have claimed they saw Scum's thorny spines travelling miles away into the surrounding inhabited areas, grabbing any valuable object they could find and bringing it back to their master. After all, the Scum believes he has to take back whatever rightfully belongs to him, which is nearly everything...

*How is this card representing ARTHANASIOS ?:
First of all, I  would like to say I do not believe that only a creature card can represnet someone; a spell or permanent can also do that. I am a Life player, that's why Scum's Thorns|Scum's Spines is a Life card. Thorn Carapace is my favourite shield and I believe it is also the most powerful if Enchanted/Protected, however it is not used as commonly as it should. So, I have created a double activated ability, one which can create a Thorn/Spine (Death quanta matches poisoning) and the other one adds a PC into Life, which is something Life needs (and I like Steal's idea, despite the fact I dislike darkness in general). ;)

Chapter1:
Spoiler for Hidden:
The experiment was about to begin. King Drake and Sir McSod have travelled from the distant Desert of Time to the Kingdom of Darkness just to witness an amazing new experiment developed by Purple Mortimer, a well-known scientist and :entropy quanta user who came directly from Chaos Triad.
Purple Mortimer had various laboratories in all elemental realms and he had license to travel freely along the land without paying any tolls, except from Graviton Basin, where his stuides have been considered 'heretical, misanthropic and dangerous for the whole nation', a consideration made by Graviton High Council itself. Furthermore, the astrologists have found that an eclipse was going to take place into the Kingdom of Darkness, something both Drake, McSod and Mortimer were interested in watching. The truth is that eclipses were quite often in the Dark Kingdom for a supernatural reason.
Finally, a :time wizard dressed in golden robes and a king dressed in yellow Samurai armor knock the iron door of the Purple Laboratory...
- "Ahh, you finally arrived!", Mortimer said. "King Drake the XIV and Sir McSod the Timebringer, it is a pleasure to meet you both!"
- "The pleasure is all ours!", McSod responded.
- "Indeed!", Drake added. "But before we start, let me give you a present in order to thank you for your hospitality. A fine-crafted Eternity."
- "I would also like to offer a gift", McSod said as soon as he started wispering magic words. "Voila, a Time Factory is now yours!", Mcsod said and a clockwork device as big as a wardrobe jumped out of thin air.
- "Ah, an Eternity and a Time Factory, I am so thankful for such great presents, but I am afraid I won't be able to repay your kindness...", Mortimer replied. "Anyway, let's move to the inner laboratory now. If we don't start and finish our experiment soon enough, then we won't make it in time to watch the eclipse.", Mortimer said and rushed trough the corridor, pulling his Eternity and Time Factory presents along him via a purple magical cloud he just summoned. "Have you decided which of you will be my volunteer?", Mortimer asked.
- "I will be!", McSod replied quicky. "I always wanted to participate into an experiment of yours, I am actually a big fan of you, Mr.Purple."
-"Good... Then just go and sit onto the chair right there!", Mortimer responded and pointed to an open, big, central pipe with a chair on it. There were other four pipes almost as big as the central one; the two to the left were empty while the two to the right were occupied with a Darkness and an Amethyst pillar respectively.
-"I think I will make the experiment a little more spicy", Mortimer announced and he putted the Time Factory and Eternity into the two empty pipes to the left respectively. "Ready to begin?"
-"I am in position and ready as always!", McSod said in a happy mood, unaware of what was going to happen next...
-"But please tell us, what kind of experiment will it be?", Drake said out of curiosity, though he was going just to watch the experiment and not participating in it, like McSod did.
-"You will see, you will see...", Mortimer replied and he closed the doors of all the five pipes via a switch and started the experiment.
Everything went well into the experiment, in the beginning at least. After a while, the pressure in the pipes reached great heights, black smoke started to fill the entire chamber and the red siren to the ceiling started screaming, giving a warning for upcoming disaster...
-"What is going on, Mr.Purple?", Drake asked afraid of what may happen.
-"It's ok, I have it under control, I will fix it.", Mortimer said with a way which made Drake even more afraid.
Suddenly, a big explosion occured, surrounding everything into a purple mist. Drake fell unconsious...

Chapter 2:
Spoiler for Hidden:
After a while, Drake manages to wake up only to find the room and pipes in ruins and Purple Mortimer unconsious next to him. "What has happened?", Drake shouted.
-"It seems something went wrong, terribly wrong", Mortimer responded as soon as he became consious.
-"Where is McSod?", Drake asked but his answer didn't come from the lips of Mr.Purple. By the time the smoke was cleared, a big monster stood on the central half-destroyed pipe, growling towards Drake. It was like a werewolf, but a little bigger. Its fur was violet and its eyes were bright yellow. In an instant, that monster charged against Drake, throeing him down and then it jumped off a window, breaking its glass, and landed onto the laboratory's yard.
-"Is that creature McSod?", Drake asked while he was staring towards the broken experimental chair of the central pipe.
-"Yes, it is. There is no other explanation. And we have to stop it and stop it now!", Mortimer replied and he pushed an emergency button located in the room's corridor.
Suddenly, another siren was heard, doors and trapdoors were opened and Abominations rushed out, filling the entire yard and staring aggresively towards the werewolf-like monster. However, McSod's new form was savage but intelligent enough in combat. He picked a piece of the window's broken glass, shaped like a curved sword, and used it to slash his way through the Abominations via a series of claw, bite and sword attacks.
-"Impossible!", Mr.Purple shouted. "Abominations can't even tough it..."
-"Then I have to stop my former ally.", King Drake the XIV said, jumping off the broken window and drawing his katana at the same time...

Chapter3:
Spoiler for Hidden:
Drake charged against his ex-comrade. As a response, McSod's lycanthropic form blocked his attack with his glass sword. The glass sword breaks and its pieces strike both McSod and Drake. Drake's armor prevents the glass pieces from hurting him while McSod's buffed form doesn't seems to care a lot. The damage inflicted by tiny glass pieces is indifferent compared to the beast's endurance. Ready to strike back, McSod launches both a bite and a claw attack against Drake, who blocks the bite by his own sword and got saved by the claws due to his Samurai armor. Suddenly, the beast grabs Drake's katana to his teeth, disarming the king and throwing his weapon far away; now he has to face McSod with bare hands...
-"Run for your life, Drake, you're no match for this monster without your sword.", Mortimer shouted from the window, where he stood and watched the battle.
-"I may have not my katana anymore, but I still have my spells.", Drake replied.
With great speed, he shifts back a few feet way from McSod and draws a card from his beltpouch. That card was 'Reverse Time'. This could do it. Reverse Time puts a summoned creature back to its owner deck, but if used against a normal, non-summoned creature, like a normal human, then it may wash away the effects of time. It could remove the horrible mutation McSod had and turn him normal again, to move the time a few minutes back and everything would be over. Drake spelled a rhyme in order to empower his spell:
"Mutation has infected a friend of mine
I will prevent this by reversing time!"

Suddenly :time magic flowed from the card towards the beast, lifting it on the air and turning the card blank.
-"I don't think this will work.", Mortimer said with a nastly smile which, unfortunately, the king didn't notice...

Chapter4:
Spoiler for Hidden:
As McSod was lifted into the air and the Reverse Time effect took place, suddenly the spell broke and McSod remained there unchanged...
-"What?", Drake said after witnessing the complete failure of his spell.
-"I have warned you...", Mortimer whispered with an obvious satisfaction.
-"Nevermind, I have still some tricks under my sleeve." Drake said and he pulled out a chain with a Kama binded on each edge.
Drake the XIV just manage to block with his chain McSod's next double claw attack. Forced to move backwards, he perform a series of very fast attacks with his Kamas in order to keep the beast at bay. Then, he draws another card from his pouch and by looking at it, he know he has drew his triumph card; a Turtle Shield. He quickly summons it on his hand, but that distracted him, giving McSod the chance to break through his chain defence and land two serious hits against him. The first one landed on his neck, creating a great bleeding wound. Fortunately, the second strike landed on his Turtle Shield...
-"That's what I was waiting for", Drake smiled despite his serious injure.
He watched the lycan to be delayed for a while, being unable to react with any way. By using this advantage, Drake binds the creature with his chain and pin it to the ground through his Kamas. McSod's lycanthropic form was unable to escape and it trully seemed the nightmare has ended. However, something unpredictable happened. The sun's light was becoming fewer and fewer, untill it was completely covered by the moon. The awaited eclipse has started. Suddenly, McSod started growling heavily, his eyes became even more yellow and bright, his muscles became twice as large and in a tremendous rage he breaks the chains completely, leaving Drake speechless and Purple Mortimer amazed. However, the monstrous wolf didn't attacked the king, but he responded to the howls coming from the dark wastelands far away. As McSod ran and jumped off the laboratory's yard, King Drake the XIV searched for his katana, which was found next to a dead Abomination, slaughtered earlier by the werewolf, and rushed to the direction the beast was heading. However, his bleeding wound on his neck was deep, forcing him to end his chase and almost falling down uncounsious.
-"You can't chase him like this.", Mortimer replied as soon as he came outside. "You need to rest. Stay here for a day in order to heal and you continue your chase tomorrow".
Drake had no choice than to agree...

Chapter5:
Spoiler for Hidden:
After spending the night in the laboratory's living quarters, Drake was ready to travel to the end of the world if had to in order to find his friend and turn him back to normal. Purple Mortimer treated Drake's wounds by forcing him to drink an awfully-tasted pink potion with an :entropy emblem upon it and to make him punching himself again and again! Oddly, the scientist's methods were successful and his neck wound closed at no time.
-"I am sorry about what happened yesterday." Mortimer apologised. "If I was more careful with the experiment, then all this wouldn't have happened."
-"You meant no harm, so it is fine, and we willingly participated in this.", Drake replied. "Actually, I am thankful for healing me and supporting my quest. By the way, you didn't tell me what was the main aim of your experinence yet."
-"Does it really matter right now?", Mr.Purple said avoiding a straighforward answer. "The thing that really matters right now is to find McSod and turn him back to normal. He must be with his werewolves cousins in the endless wilderness right now, so make haste. Time is against us."
-"No, time is not against us.", Drake disagreed. "Time is always with us, it is our greatest ally. But yes, I must make haste. Farewell, Mortimer!"
-"Farewell, Drake.", Mortimer responded by trying to hide his evil smile while watching the samurai king flying away on his Silurian pet.
-"You though Reverse Time would save McSod, didn't you? Have you ever though using RT back there was the greatest mistake of yours?", Mr.Purple said to himself while holding an entropy creature card with McSod's monstrous form drew upon. "According to the global laws of quanta and elements, a rewind effect may returns a non-summoned being at a previous state, but a summoned creature always returns to the owner's hand as a card. You fool, did you really think my experiment went wrong? MY experiment? I merged McSod with great amounts of :entropy, :darkness and :time quanta, turning him into a summoning super-creature with me as his owner! I even used that Eternity of yours into my experiment in order to give him partial immunity to rewind. You helped me gaining this card I couldn't have otherwise. Everything went according to my plan and by using my Amethyst Pillars, McSod's Time Pillar, Drake's Eternity and this magnificent new type of card, I can slowly but steadily summon an army of super werewolves, capable of threatening the whole world! Hahahahahahahahaha!!!"
 To be continued...???

*How is this card representing McSod ?:
Well, as long as I know McSod, he seems to love both pure stall and pure rush, so a card which can be used both as a simple hitter in early game and as a game-ending army in later game fits that aspect of McSod. Furthermore, his avatar is a Werewolf but his favourite element is Time, so an :entropy werewolf-like card that synergies with :time and :darkness was the best option. Please McSod, correct me if I am wrong. ;)

NOTES:
Take your time today.
There is still much to learn.

Let's address my self-interpretation into this card.

Element.  As seen in my choice of avatar color and, if you've ever played me, my excessive use of Pharaohs and Dune Scoprions, I really like :time.  Plain and simple.

Card Type.  I am a living being.  I am not an inanimate object nor am I a collection of temporary energy.  Although you could argue that creatures can be one or the other, but that is not the point here..

Name.  Drake_XIV or any similar variations did not seem appropriate unless I made it some sort of /Hero/ card.  So I went with something else.

Cost.  To be honest, I do not think that highly of myself.  I am probably not something people would spend a lot [of quantum] on.  But I am not completely pointless and would like to think that I have some worth to this community, so I just have a cheap cost.

Stats.  I'm not influential [strong], but I like to believe that I can take a hit.  Or seven.  So that's how I justify my larger health, which I hope I do not have to explain why it is fourteen.  And regarding strength, time will only help build my influence here...

Ability.  As much as I may seem to know, I don't think I really know that much.  But time and experience will only help this increase.  But then again, I'm easily distracted, hence the stat reset.

Now, down to the card itself...

Learning is an active ability and can be removed by the effects of Lobotomy or by introducing a new ability via Mitosis, Butterfly Effect, Acceleration, or Liquid Shadow.

Played cards, in this case, also include creatures generated by an ability such as Mitosis, Deja Vu, Malignant or those belonging to Firefly Queen and Pharaoh.  it also includes copies copied by Parallel Universe | Twin Universe.

The Status effects Immortality, Gravity Pull, and Adrenaline are removed at the end of each turn as well.

I may increase the attack boost to two per turn as the stats reset each turn, but I am afraid of the use with Fractal.

NOTES:
Was mainly for fun, but...
The 50% protection works like SoFr protection. This protection stacks can either stack per Justaburds on your field and Justaburds themselves don't get the protection, or the protection doesn't stack, but Justaburds can protect each other.
Could apply the +1|+1 to airborne creatures instead of just birds, but I don't know... the theme was really only birds. *shrug*

To be really honest, I'm not sure what to say about how this is supposed to really relate to me. I'd have thought me being a burd and therefore spreading the good word would have been enough of an explanation.

Anyway, I do happen to like birds and the sense of freedom that they embody for me. I think that this feeling is not unique to me, and echos through the general population, to be honest, and that sort of comes into play with the flock-like style that comes into the ability of the card. The freedom portion also helps link in to the cc protection as everyone can breathe easier knowing that someone is helping to protect them in case something bad happens.

It was also clear to me I should build off having more birds on field, (however well that manages to work out) as who better to spread the good word than birds, right? Also, given that birds are particularly vulnerable grounded, they sort of work together in flocks where they all fly when something startles a few, so that would also be part of the cc protection part of the skill.

NOTES:
I've made the cost of both versions of this creature 11, one for each of the weekly tournaments that I've successfully won. I've chosen Darkness for this card, despite having been Master of Light. Whenever I fight against a Master, I always try to make it a point to use their element against them. I felt this fits the darkness element very well.

Now, on to explain the abilities and how I feel they reflect on me as player and a member of the community.

"majofa gains +1|+0 every time your opponent plays a card."
The ability of the non-upgraded version gains attack power the more your opponent plays cards. Just like I have often seen in PvP matches, the more turns the game goes on, the smaller the chance any of my opponents have at winning.

"Deal damage to your opponent equal to the amount they heal."
The ability of the upgraded version has a lot to do with how much I personally dislike decks with too much healing in them. When this card in play, any and all healing is effectively reduced to zero. Aside from Shard of Void, there is glaring lack of anti-healing cards in the game presently.

I've spent some time in the Card Ideas and Arts section, having 5 cards in the Armory. I feel I have always tried my hardest to come up with unique and creative abilities that would hopefully change the variety of Elements for the better. And I believe that the two abilities I have chosen for these card ideas captures that attempt at creativity.

Each turn, a creature may gain a random ability.

Spoiler for fail backstory; I’m saving my talent for Brawl:
Once upon a time, there lived Astasia, one of the wisest Aether Elemental to ever live. One day, Astasia decided to leave the sanctuary of Etheria, and explore the world to gain knowledge of the other elements. She decided to visit the Gravity Basin first; they were fans of law and order like her. Disguised in a fat suit, Astasia travelled through the Land of Gravity, learning much. She liked the way they had rules in place, everything had to follow a certain order.
Next Astasia visited the Forest of Life. This is where she learned to create creatures, berthing the very life into them. Using this knowledge, combined with the knowledge of order she acquired from the Gravity Elementals, she created a daughter in her image, one with great practicality and the ability to benefit surrounding creatures.
Astasia took these creatures, who call themselves ‘Anneles’, to the Chaos Triad, believing it to be beneficial to travel out of one’s comfort zones sometimes. During this, some of her Anneles wandered away and mingled with a herd of abominations. They returned to Astasia far less practical, and with an imagination; still able to benefit surrounding creatures, but in a more creative way.
Deciding to stop the Anneles and Elite Anneles before they got out of control in other lands, Astasia brought her creations back to Etheria before continuing her journey. The Anneles thrived there, sharing their secret with the Elementals they met, and supporting them in battle.

Spoiler for how it relates to me (262 words):
I pride myself with my brain, especially my practicality, and my imagination. Personally, I find that my imagination is better than my practicality though, so that is why the upgraded me creates a story, rather than a parchment.
How practicality ties in: Well, I'm a card curator. I know what needs to be done, when. Well, I do some times. This is why it can benefit the opponent too. Unless you're using a gravity shield that is. ;)
And then imagination: This is a biggie. I don't know if I have expressed it much yet here, but I have a big imagination. (Sometimes it goes too far ;)) And I not only enjoy my own creativity, but the creativity of others as well. Probably also why I am a curator.
My reasoning for my choice of elements:
Aether can represent wisdom and knowledge. I am quite smart, not as smart as others on this forum, but more so than some idiots I could mention.
Gravity can represent law and order. I find that Parchment is like a legal document, creating a law that creatures fighting may gain health. Also, my current personal text is "Writer of Law", so that ties in quite nicely
Entropy represents randomness, but also creativity. Creativity in exploring new genres, new actions, and new abilities. I find this fits quite well with Story, and Story fits quite well with me.
Over all, I believe that this card is a great summary of the personal I have created here, on this forum, basically because it represents my brain and my position.

Chance for Parchment/Story to work is 75%, if it works there is a 60% chance they effect one of your creatures, 40% the opponent's.
So, a 45% chance to effect one of your creatures, 30% chance to affect the opponent's, and 25% chance to not work at all.
This may need balancing.

Story can replace the current ability (so Elite Annele could gain a random ability in place of Write if she's effected). The cost will be that of the creature in question. The abilities available are those available to mutants.

User Card Competition 2 entry for pikachufan2164.

"ninja = pikachufan2164" -- xdude

I am Pika -- walking forum archive, sillyface, and ninja-poster extraordinaire. The mechanics and feel of Pikaninja are a surprisingly accurate representation of my personality. I'm an Aether enthusiast, and the mid-attacker creature slot has been something that Aether is lacking in (Phase Recluse doesn't really count, as it's only the upped version, and it's quite fragile). At 9 :aether for 7|5, Pikaninja seems expensive at first, but it brings lots of utility to the table in return.

"pika's face is upside down more than anyone else in chat. should be some sort of award for that." -- kev

Pikaninja's activated ability, Dimension Door, represents my silly side with its :entropy quanta cost. Taking a card in play and removing both it and Pikaninja for two turns is akin to my "/nom :3" antics as I enter chat, as well as expressing my Aether characteristics (phasing in and out is an important part of Aether's mechanics, as "being out of phase" brings out the thematic flavour of Dimensional Shield, Phase Dragon, and Immortal). Drawing a card on phasing back into play fits in well with my reputation as a human forum search engine, in which I quickly gather knowledge (represented by card draw) on request.

"He be lightning fast." -- Malignant

Dimension Door can be used to counter stalls, as it can remove key permanents or creatures to allow the rest of the team to strike, and the extra card given on phasing back in helps generate threats and answers and accelerate more aggressive board positions. (Oh look, another piece of stall hate after routinely banning stalling cards in tournament metas. This one's for you, Onizuka :P)

Mechanics
  • Dimensional Door works similarly to Iridium Warden's Guard ability. Both cards are removed from play (can't attack, can't activate abilities, passive and active abilities are shut down, essentially considered to be a filled slot with nothing in it).
  • Cards only reappear after the spacebar has been pressed twice (i.e. two turns have ended) by the card's owner.
  • Example play: Player A uses Dimensional Door => Both players' cards phase out => Player A ends turn => Player B ends turn => Player A ends turn => Player A's card phases back in => Player A draws a card => Player B ends turn => Player B's card phases back in
  • While phased out, cards keep the same state they had while they were in play. Timers don't advance, infection damage is not applied, etc.
  • On phasing back in, creatures don't attack, and abilities can't be activated. Abilities that don't need to be activated will turn themselves back on.
  • The card drawing effect activates after the "discard a card if you have 8 cards in hand" step. Hence, drawing a card with 7 cards in hand will cause the player's next draw to be skipped (less card advantage for clogged hands).
  • Phasing in does not count as "playing a card" for the purposes of Neurotoxin.
  • If a stack is targeted, only one card in the stack is phased out. For example, if a stack of 6 Shards of Gratitude is targeted, only 1 Shard of Gratitude will phase out.

NOTES:
About this shield can tell who belongs to an RPG character, Arcangelo Vangélios a paladin of the Goddess of Victory, this fearless and brave honorable gentleman received his goddess, a divine shield,. a reward for their heroic deeds, this glorious artifact has power beyond the physical defense of other defenses such as mental and spiritual elemental, so it's easy to explain how this shield represents me, my nickname is Vangélios, in memory of my former RPG character,
Also has many families as a symbol of famila shields, which are passed from generation to generation, and I really like it, so a shield for me is a noble brand. In the game he would represent me as my ability to surprise or dissuade opponents. He is versatile, dynamic and flexible, just as I believe to be in this game. Versatile because it is expensive platforms in mono, but cheap in rainbow, dynamic because copy  the opponent shield if the opponent has no shield or the shield is not interesting it serves as a simple reduction by 1 damage, flexible because it can be very good against some decks, and little useful against other, as are all the shields of the game. And finally, this shield is my work as a blacksmith creates its artifact and everyone knows who was the blacksmith who built it, the mark of a player. So I believe that this card represents me well in many aspects on the game, largely by the creative way it was developed.

NOTES:
In most of the things that have to do with the forums (PvP Events, tournaments, the Cards and Ideas Section, etc.) I've never been a heavy hitter or, for lack of a better word, amazing. Despite this fact, I feel as if I've always been able to offer a little something into everything. (e.g. Card Art, PvPE, Elements Tools)

With all this in mind, I decided my card's ability portrayed me perfectly.

Reasons for ability:

-I'm never the strongest in any situation, but I will certainly give my best and as much support as possible.

-In the forums, just as this card's ability works, I believe I've become a better player over the time I've been around.

Reason for Attack difference in Unupped and Upped:

-I took a short break awhile ago and when I came back I felt a lot better about myself and the place I was in. Even though I had this better feeling, I was having trouble starting up back into the forums with posts and Art. So, I cost less (ready to help out in any situation) and I heal (help out) more often even if my help isn't the best.

Reasons for :life as Element:

-I've always been fond of Life as that Element that can really surprise and outnumber you. I can't multiply in real life, but I can sure as hell surprise people with how versatile a player/person I am.

-And in chat, I'm always the -life- of the party. /terrible joke

EtG User Cards 2 entry for OldTrees.

OldTrees is well-known for being the go-to person for card idea theorycrafting and balancing. This dedication to creating fairly-costed and well-balanced cards is reflected in the name of Treefolk Elder's ability: Natural Order. The ability cost is paid with :gravity quanta because Gravity is the element of order; it also opens up new synergies between Life and Gravity.

Treefolk Elder is a mid-game utility creature. It is costed at 5 :life because its strong reusable creature control ability would otherwise dominate most other early-game creatures (either small creatures, or aggressively-costed rush creatures with low HP values).

As for the ability itself, it is a modified form of creature control for Life that goes well with what it does best. Since Life specializes in summoning creatures of high quality in high quantities, Natural Order is a perfect fit. Astute players will recognize that Natural Order is essentially the "fight" mechanic from Magic: the Gathering, and the mechanic is used here because of how it plays to Life's strengths. (In Magic: the Gathering, each colour has its own way of dealing with creatures. Red has damage-based creature control, black has conditional non-damage-based instakill, white "locks down" creatures to prevent them from being useful, blue bounces them back or counters them outright as they're being summoned, and green answers creature threats with bigger creatures of its own.)

The damage-trading part of Natural Order also creates another use for high HP counts beyond the usual suspects of Catapult and Gravity Pull. It also discourages the opponent from using Reverse Time on the player's creatures in a :life :gravity duo, as it will reset the creature's HP and allow it to use Natural Order another few times.

Mechanics
  • Natural Order is a mixture of Guard and Gravity Pull.
  • Damage done via Natural Order is simultaneous -- both creatures attack at the same time.
  • Creatures that are delayed or frozen will not attack, and their timers will not decrease by 1 turn as a result.
  • Creatures only attack ONCE with Natural Order (Adrenaline is not applied).
  • On-hit damage effects (Vampire, Venom, etc.) are treated in the same way as Gravity Pull, except that creatures with Momentum and spell damage will still deal damage to the other creature.
  • Negative attack values will heal the attacked creature, similar to how it is handled with the Guard ability.

User Card Competition 2 entry for willng3.

Also known as "How Will Embraced the Aether."

During earlier eras of the forum, Will was already well-known for his fast decks and fondness for Frogs. Higs picked Will to be a part of Team Aether in War III -- a willing recruit, if you will. After experiencing the ups and downs of War with Team Aether, Will set on his journey to become the Master of Life. Now, one of his signature decks is Silence Frogtal, which addresses some of the problems that a normal Frogtal would have trouble with (Silence breaks Dimensional Shield, Wings, and Shard of Sacrifice chains, prevents mass creature control from being played after the Fractal, and allows multiple turn kills to go past Miracle).

Willing Recruits serves as more than just another Frogtal support card. It also provides creature decks without permanent control a way to break stalemates with its spell damage, and is a card-efficient way of including a win condition in stalls.

Will loves his Frogs for their rushing power, and this card generates three of them. Also, note the bad pun in the card name. The ability to have creatures deal spell damage for a turn is a way for Life to get past full-blocking shields (something that Will has acknowledged as one of Life's greatest weaknesses). The mechanic itself is borrowed from Aether's Psion and Shard of Wisdom, and represents Will's stint as a member of Team Aether, as well as his second-favourite element. Although it does have a high casting cost, Willing Recruits has amazing card efficiency (having the effect of four cards -- three Frogs, and a spell-damage buff spell). This efficiency is a characteristic trait of Aether cards like Phase Dragon, which combines a creature with the Quintessence spell, all in one card.

Mechanics
  • The Frogs generated are treated as if they have just been cast, so no ability activations (unless enhanced by a Shard of Readiness)
  • The spell damage buff only applies to creatures that were in play before Willing Recruits was cast (similar to how Sky Blitz works)

Hand viewing effect is always active (while Spy is alive) and is passive.

I have been using the username of russianspy1234 for a long time, it's my go to username for most forums.  Why the 1234?  Well the first time I tried using it, just plain old russianspy was taken, and I decided rather than trying to remember which sites had what numbers, I would just use the numbers all the time, even if the name without the numbers was available.  Because I have been using it for so long, I have had time to think up, or have people tell me, various corruptions of my name.  Russian's Pie is one of my favorites, but unfortunately would not make for a good card.  Making a 12 cost card that was a 3 | 4 would be pretty difficult, so I just stuff with the non numbered part for this submission.  The ability to see hidden information is often hard to gauge.  Some people overestimate it and many underestimate it.  I recently started playing Inistosis, and found myself often wondering whether it would be safe to play the dragon even though I only had 2 shards to get the ball rolling.  I actually replaced two of the hourglasses with precognitions to facilitate my style.  Antimatter is also a problem for a lot of decks that I play, mostly because immolation is one of the few cards that can stop you form healing your opponent more than you damage them per turn.  This card allows you to know what is coming and to play around it.  The dodging of shields by jumping behind the opponent seemed like a fun and flavorful effect to put on a ninja spy, and as my card creations show, I like putting flavorful and not necessarily mechanically useful effects as add ons onto my cards.

This card represents me first of all, because it is a bee, and my username has to do with bees. The Bumble refers the the first part of bumble bee, and the Sting refers to how bees will sting you (obviously). The mechanics of the card are based on where I am in this game right now. Currently, I am weak and mostly worthless, but I hope to (with time) become better and eventually do some good. I hope to build myself through competing in tournaments and other events such as this. I also think this card represents me through the swarm aspect of it. This represents my situation by showing there are many other 'newbies' like me here, and we can all benefit from each other. Through the shared knowledge, we can all benefit and mature into great players. Also, life and time are two of my favorite elements, and that is also reflected in this card. I like life because of its simplicity and effectiveness, and time because of the depth of the strategy available there. I think this card represents my potential growth and my goals and 'character' in elements. I think this card is fairly well balanced because in it's early stages it would be very vulnerable to CC and it would take many turns to buff it to a highly dangerous amount. This would make it very slow to start out, making any deck that relies on it very weak to rushes. Overall, I think this card represents my strengths and weaknesses and current role in this game and forum.

NOTES:
What's the first thing that comes to mind, when you hear "vrt"? - Exactly! A bunch of pictures which are easily described somewhere between awesome and OP!

Similar to that, the most awesome Creatures are without a doubt the Dragons. Not really too strong due to the high cost, not too popular either for the same reason, but awesome none the less. They might only be challenged by the Oty in terms of awesomeness, but to come on the level 'vrt', the User-Card just needed to have some punch in it.

A~nd since the rules ask for something balanced, what's more appropriate than taking the average strengh of the Dragons for 'vrt'? - Well yeah, had to round it a little, but the idea was to make it an average Dragon in strengh and health, with an appropriate cost.

Last, but not least, 'vrt' needed a fitting skill. That skill shouldn't influence the gameplay at all in a mathematically sense, since that's the way Dragons ought to work, but at the same time, it should make Cards OP. Vrt just likes to do that in his spare time.
An there we go, give vrt a little time and with his skill he makes a new picture for one of your cards. The outcome, that the card will be ever so slightly OP, needn't really be mentioned, but I thought it was a nice addition anyway. Just as it would be a nice addition to Oty's text to say: "Oty still hungers!"

Description:
This card represents the funniest and actually PVP1 effective deck I have made so far, Pure Dolls, which is also based in my favourite card.

As for my Elements history, I have never liked sticking to a single deck or strategy. I have tried to find and test several unexplored and/or funny -and some pretty crazy- synergies in the trainer and later in PVP1, where of course many of them resulted in a failure or just too slow to be viable, like a pair of inundation ones. If it doesn't work unupped, I tried upped. If it works upped, I try to downgrade it again to unupped (I like unupped and rareless metagame). If it still doesn't work even upped and I think it has potential, it goes to Deck Help section.

Pure Dolls, in particular, was quite more interesting than the rest of the decks I tested in PVP1: It hasn't been the first one who brought me a bunch of insults, crazy stuff or "aosdkfnaofnasfe good deck!" via chat, but has been the one who made me be sent the biggest amount of messeges like "Worth losing against it"

As for this card, it doesn't only represent the insane amount of buffs casted in the Voodoo Doll in the deck it represents. As a real game card, it would cause several people to discover useful status buff synergies, something I did by cassuality playing a SoSebow.

I don't actually know if there are many synergies to discover, but most of the people don't know even 1/10 of them and tools to make them discover them for themselves are always useful.

NOTES:
Those are sunglasses. Not a bra.
It is a picture that I drew in MSpaint of a ditto drinking coffee. Very simple.
Coffee had his first crush in fifth grade. Not sure if relevant.

Description

Thematics:
The energized fits with the coffee as an unstable stimulant that allows for random boosts. Coffee is paid in :air since that is one of Coffee's favorite elements. The card is :entropy since Coffee stated he disliked :gravity and entropy was the opposite of that. I also wanted to try a more random concept. The high cost is a reference to how many times Coffee has reset and how long he has played the game but he hasn't gone very far in terms of score. He is a very amicable and friendly fellow, so he has a very powerful ability to make up for that as it shows how flexible he is. While he seems like a newbie, I am sure that Coffee has a lot of potential and great ideas to contribute and offer to the forums.

Mechanics:
Energized is a passive. Coffee is the active. d3 means a random number from 1-3 inclusive. All gains include negatives. A blessing would give +4/+4 to this card, a rage potion would give +6/-5 and a plate armor would give +1/+4. This allows synergy for pandemonium and chaos power. Coffee would give an average of +3/+3 per turn, and while it is better than growth, it is random and has a very long setup in addition to pretty low base stats. Gives :entropy a high mid range attacker as well as great mono synergies while also making some other UP cards less UP. Only applies to gains, so status affects don't affect it, although that also means that all damage it receives will also be lessened by one, allowing combinations of overdrive if one doesn't want to use :air quanta (Overdrive would give +4/+0 per turn). It also makes the infection that happens from pandemonium to be irrelevant.

NOTES:
Behold my glorious art.
Was originally have an ability that cost 3-4 :aether that sacrificed the card, added its stats together into one bolt of spell damage, and silenced the opponent, but I didn't want it to be too similar to Higs.

Description:

Thematics:
Laxadarap loves the elements of :gravity and :aether, so I felt I wanted to create a :gravity creature that gained some of the benefits of SoW, one of his favorite cards. He has stated that he vehemently hates SoFo, so his ability is also a counter to that. I have known laxadarap and played with him in games, and I know that he is a very dedicated and supportive friend, going along with my half deck idea of duels as well as using creative decks in CL. His deckbuilding abilities and play are very good, landing him in the range of :gravity's high hitters, taking over for dragon. Paradoxically (His username backwards), his creativeness and dedicated effort can also end up harming him, as the creative decks he has built in CL aren't often the best, and the decks he built for my silly duel idea cost him electrum.

Mechanics:
Every time one of your permanents is destroyed or stolen, Laxadarap gains a permanent +3atk, and spell damage for one turn (represented by a light :aether icon). If an opponent destroys 5 permanents, Laxadarap gains +15atk, but still only spell damage for one turn. Like stated above, Laxadarap's ability can be used against him, as one with a reflect shield can easily deflag permanents and watch this card attack its owner. Upgraded, the card gains +1/+3, making it much more powerful, but also able to be blocked by gravity shield, a tiny little paradox.

NOTES:
A long time ago, not quite during the time of Pharaohs, I played a game called Yugioh.  When I first started playing Elements, I decided to strive towards a Pharaoh deck.  When I earned the right to make my custom forum avatar, it seemed natural to combine the two things into the art that would represent me.  The ability itself does not quite represent my play style, however I am definitely a big fan of making custom cards with abilities based on chance because I feel that it can be a very useful tool for balancing cards.  Combining my avatar with my love of randomness seems like the way to go to make a card that would represent me in the world of Elements.  In most games I play, I prefer to find combos to make use of seemingly weak cards.  While this Dark Pharaoh seems a bit weak due to being so expensive for an effect that would likely hurt you more than your opponent, it would be a fun challenge to build a deck to mitigate that problem, especially if one were to ignore the obvious synergy with reflective shields.  Whenever I start playing a new game, I am always a little disappointed at how healing effects tend to be so vastly inferior to direct damage effects.  Elements is a little better about this than most games, but still not good enough I feel.  Healing cards truly shine in Arena more than they do when used by the player.  With this card doing such a vast amount of damage, healing becomes much more useful, whether you are using it on your side to mitigate it's effect on you, or just including healing in your deck when facing off against the Pharaoh.

NOTES:
In every game, you want to make a deck that is capable of handling multiple situations.  In Elements, that is rather hard to do because your deck space is so limited.  Packing just one purify in case you encounter a poison (or worse a Shard of Sacrifice) deck is not sufficient.  Packing only one mirror shield against a psion deck might work, but it will come at the expense of more generally useful shields.  I have pretty notoriously bad luck, so I made this card to help draws along.  Is your deck a duo and you just aren't drawing your other pillars?  This will help.  Does your opponent have a huge field but only 5 HP, and you are just praying for your lightning?  This will help.  Does the effect rely on the A.I. being smart enough to give you what you need?  Yes it does, that's part of the balance of it all.

Just relying on my frequent bad luck and my avatar was not enough to make this card represent me, and since one of my other submissions for this contest focused ont he first part of my name, I made this card represent the second part.  At 12 cost 3 | 4 would need one heck of a powerful effect though, and even being that powerful, it too easy for it to die, so I went and gave it immaterial.  That helps make it stick around, and helps better represent the character it is based on, couldn't be removed from the duel until it was over, what with it not being a card ability and being magic the duelist was using.

NOTES:
Card Notes
This spell causes any damage dealt by:
Sparks / ball lightning, Shockwaves, Thunderstorms, and Lightning Bolts, and shock lances
to add 1 shock lance to your hand the next time you draw a card.
E.g. if you cast this plus 3 sparks, you will gain 3 shock lances next turn.
Spoiler for Shock Lance Spell Card:

The shock lance puts a buff on anything it targets. This buff stacks with successive applications. Each buff in the stack will increase the damage dealt by any of the electrical or sonic attacks above (shock lances included) by 1. Thus if you cast 2 shock lances on something, it will take an additional 2 damage from any of the listed electrical or sonic attacks for 2 turns.

How the card(s) exemplify my Profile "OdinVanguard":

A Vanguard, is a military formation that marches at the front of an army. This card's flurry of electrical vengeance will serve as the leading strike against your foes, and will open the way for your armies. A vanguard of lightning.

This card also exemplifies the leading front of Odin’s military might in battle.
It is a metaphor for Odin’s son Thor, god of lightning. Just as Odin gave rise to Thor, who would serve as an instrument of wrath through deadly strength and might, this spell gives rise to its own electrical furry. It will amplify your electrical attacks, multiplying singular attacks into a flurry of deadly electricity. Thus, just as Thor’s lightning was an extension of his wrath and thereby his father’s, so too will the mystical lightning generated by this spell become an extension of yours.

I think using the actual card name would be a much better idea than using numbers.

Concurred. Numbers are okay, when there's like.. 6 options. This delves into the realm of silliness.

speaking of, is there any way to have spoilers default to open?  Because it is kind of awkward in competitions like this to have to open them all manually.

Not that I know of. However anything less than 100 clicks (50 spoilers) can be handled if rare.

Hmm. I'm not sure about this, because then I'd have to break up the tables a bit and things might get a little messy when I'm done editing. (I'm also a little concerned about 42 images appearing all once not being browser friendly, though I could just double spoiler everything in that case.)

I did however replace all the numbers with the card names and added element symbols on the poll to make it easier to identify the cards, though. Sorry for the inconvenience.
