This is in for a reason obvious to those of us who know lick of Japanese.  The kanji for "Yamata" are the ones meaning "eight" and "branch," referring to his eight heads.  What does this have to do with ?  Nothing much.  But considering it's size and a rather neutral nature, it fit into   as I see it, as I'd like to maintain a thematic connection with its origin. So, I've simply stripped it to having to sacrifice a creature, much like the deities' sacrifices to Yamato no Orochi, which I assumed was to maintain peace. Your shields affect Orochi if it attacks you. Now, essentially an beatstick.  With death effects.  I wonder how this will work out...  Note there is always balancing to be done. I'm considering dropping the cost and making Orochi affected by both sides. SERIES:

Interesting. I'll assume the sacrificed creature has to be your own?
Is the ability active or passive? What happens if this creature is frozen/delayed?
Antimatter could have some fun with this.

When it dies does it generate a sword for you?

Yes, I was hoping Sacrifice implied it was your own creature.

And I wasn't thinking about stretching the thematics to that extent.  Although it may be an idea for another card...

It is passive.

Frozen and Delayed means it can't attack, and, in turn, means it doesn't matter if you sacrifice a creature.

Thinking about it now, there may be issues with Antimatter.  Might make Appease mandatory.  Nah, 16 | 11 quanta for 12 healing is less than that of 4 | 3 Sancs.

Giving this liquid shadow also means that you don't have to sacrifice things anymore! (at the expense of a very powerful attacker dealing damage)

No, it'd only mean you'd lose the ability to Appease Orochi.  But it would make it a useless hitter as it is healing you for the damage it is hitting you with.

If it attacked you, wouldn't it heal the opponent?

No, because Vampire heals the damage dealt to the owner.  It's the equivalent of using a Drain Life | Siphon Life on yourself.

Sorta off topic, but I always wondered. If you cast drain life on yourself with 1hp, what happens?
